Bella's POV
My brows furrowed as annoyance sparked in my eyes.
Heat built in my chest, threatening to burst free.
I stood gracefully and moved toward my quarters. "Penny, get rid of them. Tell them I'm not taking visitors."
I couldn't risk being seen here—not with Grandfather still facing criminal charges. One wrong move could drag me down with him.
I slipped through the hidden tunnel and told Penny to seal the entrance behind me.
Debris now blocked the opening, making it blend seamlessly with the wall.
Penny chewed her lip, worry evident as she spoke. "Lady Genevieve won't budge. She claims she'll only stay a moment, and she brought you something."
My expression remained stone-cold as I walked along the low wall. "Whatever she brought, she can take it back."
I wanted nothing more to do with the Fairfax family. Cutting them off completely was my only smart play.
Why won't Genevieve just leave me alone? Can't she find something better to do with her life?
