Bella's POV
I offered Elena a warm smile, gratitude filling my voice. "Thank you for everything you've done."
"Your wellbeing is all that matters to me, Miss," Elena replied earnestly.
Penny's face twisted with indignation. "The nerve of those people! First they cast Miss Fairfax out, now they want her back? What game are they playing?"
Something felt off about the whole situation. After considering it briefly, I told Elena, "I'll pay the Sinclair family a visit. It's the ideal opportunity to bring Lady Helena her medicine."
"Of course, Miss Fairfax," Elena answered with a respectful bow.
I picked up the medicine bundle, gestured for Penny to come along, and made my way directly to the Sinclair residence.
Even before I reached the front door, violent coughing echoed from within the house.
The sound spurred me to move faster, and I hurried inside.
Oppressive heat struck me immediately, the steamy air soaking through my clothes in seconds.
