Gideon's expression turned thunderous, his face darkening with rage that seemed to consume him entirely.
"That woman has some serious audacity," he growled, his voice dripping with venom.
Daisy trembled, ducking her head submissively. "Please don't hold it against Lady Bella, Lord Kenneth. She had no idea you'd returned to the estate."
Kenneth shot her a cynical look. "Still making excuses for her? What exactly did she offer you? If she hadn't come back, Mother would have assigned you to Ivy. So why does a servant who belonged to Ivy suddenly switch loyalties the moment she returns?"
Daisy's head dropped even lower, too terrified to utter a word.
Her cowering only fueled Gideon's suspicions. Rage boiling over, he charged toward the courtyard to face Bella directly.
The household staff saw him approaching and moved to intercept him, but Gideon barked a sharp order. "Step aside."
