Amara's POV
The other kids buzzed around me, chattering and laughing about whatever drama was consuming their teenage minds.
I sat there, completely disconnected, my thoughts drifting somewhere far from this place.
Jasper, slumped in the seat beside me, noticed something was off.
He threw on his signature intimidating expression and snapped, "Don't you people have anything better to do? Stop gawking and get lost!"
The group caught sight of his threatening stare and dispersed quickly.
He seemed ready to pull me aside for some private conversation, but before he could speak, I was already absorbed in my phone again.
He started to say something, then hesitated, clearly struggling to find the right words.
When I finally looked up from my screen, I asked, "Did you need something?"
My voice came out completely monotone.
Jasper stumbled through his response. "Oh, yeah, we've got this class group chat going. Maybe I could add you on Facebook and get you connected?"
