Amara's POV
BT: [It's fine.] Dark Cobra: [Okay, I'll have someone bring it to you.] After I logged out of the Steel Trine intranet, a message popped up on my screen.
Vault Vault: [Took a couple small jobs. Arriving in Merida Metro tomorrow.] BT: [?] Vault Vault: [You're not suspecting I'd turn you in for the bounty, are you?] Vault Vault: [No way? We're all family. No trust at all?] I drew in a sharp breath.
BT: [Don't go crazy. If you cause trouble, I won't deal with it for you.] Vault Vault: [If you won't, there's always Falcon. He loves cleaning up messes.] BT: [...] Vault Vault: [And I heard from Falcon and Ram that you've recently been pestered by a lunatic.] Vault Vault: [When I'm free, I'll go help you deal with that menace!] BT: [...] When I noticed Rupert's eyes on me, I didn't bother checking Cygnus's other messages and shoved my phone into the desk drawer.
Everyone in class seemed lost in their own worlds.
Penelope reached for my report sheet.
