Keifer's POV
I parked in front of school, unbuckled my seatbelt, and took a second to breathe. Calm. Composed. No scenes. Not on Jay's first day as a girl. I walked around to her side, unbuckled her, grabbed her bag, and helped her out. Right before we stepped onto campus I stole a quick kiss.
Jay looked at me, shook her head with a smile, and muttered, "Idiot."
I grinned and laced our fingers tightly.
The second we walked in, every pair of eyes locked onto us. Whispers started immediately. The boys didn't even try to hide it.
"Isn't that Mariano from Section E? She's really a girl... damn, she looks sexy."
"Holy shit, she's hot."
"Look at that waistโfuck, I wannaโ"
My head snapped toward the last voice so fast the guy's words died in his throat. Jaw locked. Eyes cold. Jay squeezed my hand hard, a silent don't.
We walked faster toward Section E. One more second out there and someone's jaw was getting rearranged.
The moment we stepped into the classroom the boys swarmed.
Ci-n crushed Jay in a hug.
"Ci-nโairโpleaseโ"
"Jay! I missed you so much!"
Edrix whistled. "Damn, Jay. You've been hiding this the whole time?"
David smiled, a little more respectful. "Nice to see you, Jay. You look really good."
"Thanks, David."
I stood there like a bodyguard with zero chill, glaring at anyone whose eyes lingered longer than two seconds. When Edrix's gaze dropped a little too low I cleared my throat loudly enough that half the class flinched. Jay pinched the back of my hand in warning. I didn't care. she isย Mine.
Finally Sir Alvin walked in. He scanned the room, then landed on Jay.
"Good morning, everyone. And welcome again', Ms. Mariano."
Jay stood and greeted him properly. Class started. She sat right beside me. I triedโreally triedโto pay attention. Failed. Every few seconds my eyes drifted to her profile, the way the light hit her hair, the soft curve of her smile when she caught me staring.
Yeah....I was going to make this official...Soon.
Before half the school got any bright ideas.
Jay's POV
Sir Alvin's class finally ended. Free period. Bliss.
I was sitting there, completely at peace, casually scrolling through my phone when the loud scrape of a chair made me look up. Yuri dragged his seat right next to my boyfriend, who was already grinning at me like an idiot.
"Bro," Yuri said.
The second that word left his mouth, my entire head went hot. He was staring at Keifer the way a lost puppy stares at its ownerโlike Keifer was his husband and I was the homewrecking mistress currently occupying all his attention.
"Bro... why didn't you come to the party yesterday?" Yuri continued, voice full of betrayal. "I was really waiting for you. Tita Serina said you insisted on staying home."
Why, Yuri? Why must you do this?
Keifer looked at him, completely shameless, and answered, "I was busy making out."๐
I nearly choked on air.
Yuri's eyes went huge. "Why... how... when... what did you just say? Makingโ"
"He was eating out," I cut in fast, voice a little too high. "You heard wrong."
Yuri turned to me. Keifer just smirked, the absolute devil.
"I heard what I heard," Yuri insisted.
"You heard wrong," I snapped. "Maybe check your ears. And your brain while you're at it."
Yuri nodded innocently... then his eyes narrowed at me.
"But you were absent yesterday too. I saw your father at that party. Why weren't you there?"
Keifer, still grinning, replied, "Yuri, she was my snack. How could she go?"๐๐คญ
I coughed so hard my eyes watered. I glared daggers at him.
Yuri blinked. "What?? Jay is your snackโ"
I jumped out of my seat before it could get worse.
"He meant he was busy eating snacks with me! We had a small private party yesterday!"
Yuri looked at us like we had just personally betrayed him and kicked his little puppy down there.
"What?! You guys had a party without me?! You... you could've told me! I would've skipped the wedding and come!"
Keifer raised an eyebrow. "Why would you want to join my snacks? They're mine. And you'd just be a third wheel."
Yuri looked genuinely confused. "Why would I be a third wheel at a snack party?"
"Because you don't have a girlfriend."
Yuri's face scrunched up. I was dying inside.
"What does you eating snacks have to do with me having a girlfriend?"
Keifer sighed like he was dealing with a lost child. "Yuri... you're too innocent. You need serious training to grow up."
"What did you guys eat then?" Yuri asked, completely serious.
Keifer's eyes slid to me, wicked. "First' I started with Sweet lips"๐
Yuri: "Lips??"
"He meant Sweet Lotte lip candies!" I laughed, way too loudly. "Fancy ones! Ha ha!"
Keifer continued, "Then love bitesโ"
"LOVE BITES?!"
"Love-bite cakes!" I corrected frantically. "Super tasty!"
I shot Keifer a look that screamed shut up right now, but this man had no filter. Zero. None.
"And then juicyโ"
"CHICKEN!" I almost shouted. "Chicken! It even looked exactly like you!"
Keifer hummed. "Even Jay had some chicken... with extra white hot sauce."๐๐
Yuri tilted his head. "White sauce? What kind of sauce is that?"
Keifer winked at me. "Well... only I have it. It's Jay's favorite."
Yuri's eyes lit up like a Christmas tree. "Can I taste it too?!"
"NO!!! ABSOLUTELY NOT!!! NEVER IN THIS LIFE OR THE NEXT SEVEN LIVES!!! GO FIND ANOTHER BOYโANYONE BUT HIM!!!"
Yuri looked at me, offended. "Jay, why are you so worked up? I just wanted to taste it! You guys are so stingy!"
Then he turned back to Keifer, almost begging.
"Keifer... it's your hot sauce. I've never even heard of something like that, let alone tasted it. Please... just let me see it so I can buy it online. For the sake of our years of friendshipโ"
Keifer opened his mouth.
I pointed one deadly finger at him.
"Go on, Watson. Go on. I dare you. If you tell him anything about that 'sauce,' I can assure you... you won't have the resources to produce any more of it."๐
Keifer immediately sat up straight like a good boy and mouthed a silent sorry to Yuri.
Yuri looked at me, rolled his eyes, and muttered, "Selfish..."
I almost exploded.
What is wrong with this boy?! Why is he so obsessed with hot sauce?! Can't he just go find his own vanilla already?!
Jay's POV
Finally, lunch.
I had been counting the minutes like a prisoner waiting for parole. My stomach was growling loud enough to be classified as a natural disaster. Section E was already at full volumeโhalf of them arguing about whose turn it was to steal the good chairs, the other half just existing at maximum volume. The only reason we were even allowed back in the cafeteria was because of horoscope!ย
Keifer looked at me, eyes soft and dangerous at the same time.
"Babe, let's go to the cafeteria. My treat. Eat your heart out."
I smiled so hard my cheeks hurt. Free food ? Today was looking up.
"Of course. Let's go."
I grabbed his wrist and started dragging him before he could change his mind. Behind us I heard Yuri's voice calling my name. I picked up the pace like my life depended on it.
We reached the main area and I immediately spotted Section A's table. Aries was sitting there with Ella, plates stacked like he was preparing for nuclear winter. He waved when he saw me. I dragged Keifer over.
"Aries! You look like you're having a whole feast over here."
Aries grinned, completely unbothered by the mountain of food. "Ella skipped breakfast. So I bought a lot. Come join us."
Ella rolled her eyes so hard I almost heard them. Freya looked like she was actively fighting the urge to vomit at the sight of me. Charming.
"It's okay, you guys enjoy. I'll sit with Section E. Keifer's treating me."
Keifer chose that exact moment to open his mouth.
"Hi, brother-in-law."
The table went dead silent.
Aries's smile vanished. His jaw flexed like he was chewing glass. "Watson. I am telling you right nowโdo not call me that. I am not your brother-in-law."
Keifer's grin only got wider, all teeth and zero survival instinct. "Not yet. But the future's looking bright. I already picked out the matching suits."
Aries's chair scraped back an inch. "Keiferโ"
I slammed both hands on the table. "Okay! Okay! No fighting. We just got cafeteria privileges back. I am not getting suspended again because of you two "
Aries's eye twitched. Keifer looked delighted.
I yanked Keifer toward the food line by the collar of his blazer.
"Bye, brother-in-law!" Keifer called cheerfully over his shoulder.
I didn't even look back. I could feel Aries's murderous aura like a physical heatwave.
We ordered way too much. Keifer paid for everythingโme, himself, and somehow the entire Section E table. Yuri included.ย
We finally sat down. Keifer slid into the seat on my right, pressed his knee against mine under the table, and draped his left arm around my waist. Then he started trying to feed me with his free hand even though I was already feeding myself.
Yuri sat across from us, taking slow, aggressive bites of his chicken burger while staring at Keifer's arm like it had personally offended his bloodline.
I glared back and slurped my juice as loudly as humanly possible.
Yuri's eye twitched....My phone buzzed.
Percy: Baby sistahhhhhhhhhhhh....I'm your handsome brother. I brought the warm chocolate muffins mom made. Mom said to give them to you during lunch. They're still hot. Come get them or I will eat every single one and tell her you said they were dry.
My entire soul lit up. Muffins. My favorite. Made by Tita. Sacred.
I typed back at light speed.
Me: Coming. Touch my muffins and I will end your bloodline.
I looked at Keifer.
"I'm going to the washroom. You guys eat. I'll be back."
Keifer's eyes darkened in that specific way that always made my stomach flip.
"Should I join you, baby?" he asked, voice low and filthy. "I can hold your hair. Or other things."
Yuri choked on his burger so hard he started coughing like he was dying.
I felt my face catch fire.
"Keifer," I hissed, standing up so fast my chair screeched. "don't you dare follow me."
Keifer just smiled, slow and devastating. "That's not a no."
Yuri made a strangled noise that sounded like a dying animal.
I fled before Keifer could actually stand up and make good on the threat. My ears were burning. My heart was doing something illegal. And somewhere behind me I heard Yuri whisper, completely traumatized:
"...I need bleach for my ears."
Keifer's POV
I watched Jay head toward the washroom... and my mind immediately lit up with thoughts that were anything but innocent.
They never had been when it came to her. Even as a kid I remember wanting to devour those soft, puffy cheeks of hers because she looked so freaking adorable it was almost edible. I'd bitten them more than once because I simply couldn't resist.
Now the craving had shifted.
I wanted to bite something else entirely โ something soft, warm, and juicy.
I stood up and followed her, just to tease.
Yuri and the rest of Section E were staring at me. I ignored them.
But she wasn't going to the washroom at all.
She turned and walked straight toward the school gate.
Why is she going there?
It didn't take long to get my answer.
She met a boy at the gate โ someone who looked far too familiar.
I moved closer, just in time to see him reach for her, trying to pull her into a hug.
She stopped him.
Good.
Because how dare he try to touch what's mine....Then the world tilted.
A cluster of voices rang out at the same time, mine included "Percy?"...
What the fuck was he doing with my Jay?
Jay's POV
I came out to get those muffins from Percy... but suddenly I heard a lot of familiar sounds coming from behind me.
I looked back only to find the whole of Section E standing there, and Keifer having the most dramatic face.
My eyes furrowed. What the hell were they doing here? Did they follow me???
Keifer ran towards us and stopped right beside me while glaring at my stepbrother. Section E rattled behind him.
Keifer: "Percy... why are you here? And what are you even doing with Jay?? How did you know each other? Since when have you been approaching her? Do you have some evil reason? Was four years not enough? Want me to send you back to the coffin? If you have any problem, come to us. Why are you approaching my girl? Don't make me beat the shit out of you! Iโ"
Jay: "Keifer, breathe!!!"
Man, he was speaking without pause! Is he crazy!!!
Percy: "Keifer baby!!! I'm so hurt... you didn't even greet me properly and started questioning me? Was our friendship so broken?"
Wow!! Drama!!
Keifer looked at me and immediately said to Percy, "Don't call me baby... it's not good..."
Percy: "But I've been calling you this for a long time! Keifer baby... are you angry? Iโ"
Jay: "Stop it!"
I looked at them and asked,
Jay: "Why are you guys here? Did you follow me?? I told you I was coming to the washroom!"
Section E looked around like I wasn't asking them... they looked like they were not at fault at all...
Keifer: "Jay, actually..."
Jay: "Answer it!"
I raised my eyebrow. Keifer looked at me and smiled.
Keifer: "Actually, you've been a boy for so long so I thought if you were able to find the girls' washroom... so I followed to help... no other intentions, promise... and I didn't know about the others."
As if I would believe that!
I looked at the others...
Yuri: "I was following Keifer because if he had entered the washroom while guiding you, it would have been a bad reputation for the class president and Section E... ha ha... you know, right? It's our duty to protect the class president!"
What a lame excuse!! You rooster!
Ci-n: "We followed Yuri so he wouldn't get lost while bringing Keifer back, that's it..."

For the first time in my life, I felt like I actually had to work on something. Because today? The way everything went down... I was reckless as fuck!!!
I need to work on the way I kiss Jay. Seriously. Because now that Percy is officially her brother, I'm not sure he approved of the way I attacked her mouth like a starved man. Maybe I should've kissed her soft and deep, slow enough to make it look romantic instead of "I just claimed my territory in public." I kissed her like I was trying to suck her soul out. Do they think I'm a bad kisser now? What if Percy goes home and tells their parents, "Your daughter's boyfriend kisses like a starving dog"?
Wait. Never mind.

I came home already ready to hide myself in my room with a pile of food. I had no idea how to face Percy. It felt painfully awkward to have been kissed by my almost-boyfriend right in front of my almost-brother.
I changed into my pajamas and buried myself under the blanket, hoping it would last. It didn't. Someone knocked on my door not long after.
I opened it ready to throw my hands at Percyโhe had to be here to tease meโbut it was Dad instead. That stopped me cold.
I welcomed him in, even though my heart didn't feel the usual warmth toward him after everything Grandpa had told me.
Dad sat on the chair. I stayed on the bed. I couldn't bring myself to act completely normal.
"Jay, how was your day at school?" he asked.
I forced a smile. "It was good. Fun. Nothing special... just studying for exams."
Dad smiled back, but something felt hidden behind it.
"That's great. By the way, how are your classmates? Are they good kids?"
Why was he suddenly asking about classmates?
"Yeah, not bad. They're friendly enough."
He nodded, looking a little uncomfortable, like he was working up to something he didn't really want to ask.
"Well... do you have a classmate named Yuri?"
My whole body went still. I already knew something bad was coming. I tried to keep my voice steady.
"Yuri... yeah, I have a classmate by that name. He's a good friend of mine."
Dad raised an eyebrow. "Just a friend?"
"Dad, what do you mean 'just a friend'? He's a friend. What more do you want?"
He laughed lightly, trying to ease the awkwardness. "No, no, just asking. I saw him yesterday. He seemed polite... a good kid. Very sweet, actually. I figured you two must be pretty close. Don't you hang out with him? Or eat out together sometimes?"
Good friends? My foot. Who would be friends with that rooster? And when I already have Keifer, why would I ever eat out with Yuri?
"We all eat together sometimes," I said carefully.
Dad just nodded.
"Okay. You must be tired. Get some rest and don't stress yourself out too much. Come down for dinner in an hourโI'm cooking lechon."
I managed another smile. "Thanks, Dad."
The moment the door closed behind him, I locked it and leaned against it.
I didn't have many days left. They were already escalating things with Hanamichi. I needed to talk to Grandpa and sort everything out as soon as possible.
Keifer's POV
I came home smiling. The second I stepped inside, a sweet aroma of food hit me. I followed it straight to the kitchen. Mom was making soup and pasta.
The moment she saw me, she smiled. "Keifer, you're home! Go wash up. We're all having dinner together."
I hurried to my room, freshened up, and came back down.
We all sat together and started chatting about school stuff. Keigan has a girlfriend, Keiran almost has one... and I have an "almost" of my own. Damn, the Watson bloodline is flourishing like crazy.
Suddenly Dad turned to me.
"Keifer, by the way... do you remember Mr. Sinclair's daughter? You two met when you were little. Used to play together."
I scratched my head. Honestly, I got a complete blank. Except for Jay, I never really remembered any other girl.
Mom's smile seemed to fade for a second, but she quickly fixed it and looked normal again.
"I don't remember her," I said.
Dad nodded. "That's okay. She's coming to the Philippines from New York. She's new here, so I'd like you to help her see the place."
No way was I going out with some random girl. And why did I have to help her? I didn't want to go with anyone except Jay. I refused to let anyone sit in my passenger seat except her.
But before I could refuse, Dad continued,
"I've already confirmed that you'll help. Be friendly."
I nodded. Fine. It was okay. I'd just take Jay with me. The girl needed to see the Philippines, but nowhere did it say I had to do it alone. I'd bring Jay. Mr. Sinclair's daughter gets to explore, and I get a lovely date with my girlfriend. Damn, that was a good idea.
After dinner I went up to my room and texted Jay.
