Chapter 88 - Chapter 88: And the Magus Helps Again

The night scenery of Liyue is beautiful, and every night, Orion would find a hillside with the girls to enjoy the meteor shower; coincidentally, meteors have been streaking across the night sky every single night recently.

After wandering around Liyue Harbor for a few days, Orion decided to get down to some serious business.

You ask what that serious business is?

Actually, this was a sudden idea he had after helping Aiko resolve her stuttering problem.

Orion, who had traveled to this world and acquired the abilities of ORT—the Authority of countless gods and a system—had decided, as Alice's adopted son, to make the name known in Liyue.

Introducing myself as a Magus who, whenever possible, likes to help others. And what better way than to lend a hand to these unfortunate people on behalf of the ?

In the morning, after bidding a kissing farewell to Barbara and Amber in the Miliastra Wonderland after their curses were lifted, he went to accompany Jean and kissed her goodbye, then had some "intimate exchange" with Eula before kissing her goodbye, and finally provided Lisa with two servings of experimental materials before kissing her goodbye as well; Orion finally walked out of the main residence.

Lumine had already taken Paimon and Noelle, her two white-haired attendants, to go handle commissions; with Noelle around, Lumine's efficiency in handling commissions had more than doubled.

Yunli and Clara were also curled up in their little blankets, fast asleep; it seemed they were exhausted from staying up late last night.

However, for a rare change, Skirk volunteered to accompany Orion for a stroll, and Orion did not refuse; thus, the two of them spawned together in a certain alleyway.

After confirming there were no snot-nosed brats around, the two of them walked out of the city together.

"Where do you want to go?" Skirk asked.

Orion rarely opened up some of his sensory abilities, then pointed toward a mountain peak northwest of Liyue Harbor: "Over there."

A "fool" lived on that mountain, named Little Jiang; if you encountered him in the game, you would receive a quest to play hide-and-seek with him three times.

Little Jiang was the son of a Millelith soldier in Liyue, and he originally lived there with his parents, possessing a happy and joyful life.

But one day, a tragedy suddenly occurred. Countless bandits broke into his home, and to protect their young son, his father and mother lied to him, saying they wanted to play hide-and-seek.

His father stepped forward and lured the bandits to other hills, but not all the bandits were lured away. His mother likewise used the excuse of hide-and-seek to hide him, going out to face the bandits alone.

Then, his parents never returned, and Little Jiang's mental age remained forever stuck on that day.

It was only because the now-aged Millelith soldiers, who were his father's former colleagues, provided for him that he had been able to survive until now.

In the game, if you beat him at hide-and-seek all three times, the events he experienced would be revealed to you bit by bit; at the same time, you would find two Seelie courts in front of his house, and finding these two Seelie would grant you a treasure chest. These two Seelie, one beside the house and one on another hill, were precisely where his parents died.

What Orion did was very simple; this was nothing more than a mental disorder, and as long as it was an illness, it could be cured. Repairing brain nerves, readjusting hormone health levels—there were countless ways to do it.

After Orion found Little Jiang with Skirk, he didn't say a word, grabbed the other's head, and performed a procedure; in the blink of an eye, Little Jiang's eyes regained clarity, and at the same time, Orion manipulated his hormone levels to relax slowly so that he wouldn't suffer a sudden mental breakdown.

Even so, Little Jiang still had a good cry; he wept until the afternoon, nearly dehydrating himself.

After that, Orion only helped him with one thing and then entrusted him with one thing. Orion helped him find a relatively stable manual labor job in Liyue Harbor and demanded that he take good care of the uncles who had helped him for so many years, not to lose face for his deceased parents.

"My life was bought with my parents' lives, and my soul was dragged back from the underworld by you, Magus; I will no longer belittle myself." Little Jiang's eyes became exceptionally firm, and he bowed deeply; when he raised his head again, he found that there was no one in front of him.

A few days later, Orion took Skirk to Qingce Village; he remembered that during the first Lantern Rite, there was an old man in Qingce Village who had dementia and even mistook the Traveler for his wife.

He and Skirk put on a small light show {Illusions}, and with a single gesture, they cured all the ailments of the elderly men and women throughout the village of Qingce.

Otherwise, if he didn't treat them today, Baizhu would have to spend his life treating them in the future.

Looking back as they left, good grief, a few old men were swinging their hoes around like bo staffs.

.

.

Two days later, Orion and Skirk met the siblings Yixian and Yizhu in the city of Liyue.

The two children's mother had already entered the WangSheng Funeral Parlor, but they didn't know and had been waiting here for their mother to return.

Not only that, but at the Shimen tea stall, a pair of shameless lovers eloped; the woman found a corpse to disguise as herself and threw it into the lake, causing her old father's business to fail and leaving him with nothing.

At the same time, reports came from within the Millelith about water pollution in a certain area, as well as news that the WangSheng Funeral Parlor had lost a female corpse.

Although it was just a speculation, it was very likely that this eloping couple had stolen the corpse of Yixian and Yizhu's mother from the WangSheng Funeral Parlor and thrown it into the water, resulting in widespread water pollution.

And for the two unfortunate siblings, Yixian and Yizhu, Orion's method of dealing with it was even more straightforward.

Orion created a female robot from scratch and designed her appearance and personality to resemble the two children's late mother.

The caregiving robot had only one mission: to pretend to be the two children's mother, but claim to be their aunt to the outside world, and wait until the children grew up to the point of being able to support themselves before "confessing" to them that she was not actually their mother.

Orion originally thought Skirk would find this boring, but to his surprise, she really followed along with Orion in doing good deeds every day without any complaints.

About a week later, rumors began to circulate quietly throughout Liyue about two foreign magus who were traveling from place to place, performing good deeds and putting on small magic shows for the children.

Even the meteor shower that occurred every night was considered a show that the Two Magus put on for the Liyueren.

But Orion knew he couldn't give the Liyueren too much charity, because they might get used to having these people—the Magus—help them with everything; but once the Magus left, they would be unaccustomed to life without them and might end up pestering the Adeptis to help them, just as the foreign Magus had done.

Finally, after several days, Orion and Skirk stopped doing good.

It wasn't because there was nothing left to do, but because Xiao had come looking for them.

Orion and Skirk stood together, looking down at this Conqueror of Demons; with six eyes meeting, they were speechless for a moment.

Just as Orion wanted to be the first to speak, the BGM he had been playing all along stopped abruptly!

Then it abruptly changed to the BGM of "The Listener".

Orion:?

Why play "The Listener"?

Orion quickly looked around, and sure enough, in the distance, an old guy in brown clothes, carrying a birdcage, was strolling over.

He walked a bit this way, suddenly saw Xiao's figure, pondered for a moment, and then turned back, carrying his birdcage.

"The Listener" stopped abruptly, and it changed back to the original scenery BGM.

Orion:...

What did you come here for?
