Adrian went straight to the room Estelle pointed out to find out that it had been properly cleaned and decorated with the available minimal resources which was just how he liked it.
There was also a very refreshing scent in the air, and looking at how everything was arranged, he could tell that this was the handiwork of his mother.
At the moment, he felt like crashing down on the bed and taking a nap but he knew that after all that training, he needed to take a shower first.
Luckily, this bedroom had a bathroom so that made things easier.
Adrian was just done with his bath and was drying his hair with a towel when he heard a knock.
"Um…son, your sister and I are going to greet the neighbours next door. Do you want to come with us?" Mira's voice came from outside the door.
"No, you guys go ahead." Adrian responded without hesitation."
Besides the fact that he was very tired and needed to get a bit of shut-eye at the moment, he didn't see the need to go and greet the neighbours.
However, he knew his mother very well. If there were people to get along with, then she would rather get along with them; if they couldn't get along, she wouldn't push it and just leave it at that.
According to his father, she didn't use to be like this though.
She probably didn't go over to the neighbours earlier because they were doing a bit of cleaning around the house.
"Alright then, I'll just head over with your sister."
Adrian threw everything regarding this to the back of his mind the moment his mother left.
After drying his hair, he changed into a comfortable pyjama set before toward the window.
"Ah, fresh air." He took in a deep breath just after pushing the window open.
Adrian only opened the window to get a bit of fresh air into his room, but what he saw the next moment made him almost fall out of the window.
On the house beside theirs was an open window, and standing there was Noelle, who was staring right at him.
Unlike the dumbfounded Adrian, she looked quite calm, like she expected this.
Although Adrian was quite shocked, it didn't take long before his astonishment was replaced with excitement.
He raised his hand and was about to call out to her when he saw her pull the window shut. The last thing he heard was the sound of the window being snapped shut.
Given the way she had treated him when they met earlier today, he wasn't too surprised by that reaction.
However, he was still disappointed. He really couldn't figure out what he had done to offend Noelle.
If he had known that their neighbours were Noelle's family, he wouldn't have so quickly rejected his mother's offer to go over.
He was regretting now. He could find an excuse to go over but it's not like Noelle would want to see him anyway.
They were neighbours now, so they would get a lot of chances to meet in the future.
'No wonder that woman looked familiar, that was Noelle's mother. Perhaps this is….fate.' Adrian thought as he stroked his chin.
Meanwhile, at the house next door.
Mira and her daughter Estelle were just as shocked as Adrian when they found out who their neighbours were.
Of course, Noelle's mother wasn't any less surprised.
At this moment, the mother and daughter were both sitting in the living room as Nicole's mother served them refreshments.
Mira had brought along some cupcakes, which she had baked earlier, and they were sitting in the kitchen now.
Unlike Mira's dazzling appearance that would charm many men and even women at a glance, Noelle's mother, Nicole Aren had a more homely appearance.
Her appearance wasn't the type to stun anyone at first glance, but the more one looked at her, the more they would discover that she looked more beautiful than she appeared at first glance.
In this regard, Noelle was a lot more similar to her mother.
The two women had gotten acquainted thanks to their children back then, and after Adrian's family moved, they didn't keep in touch because of how busy their respective careers were.
"Back then, we were somewhat neighbours as we were in the same neighbourhood, I didn't expect we would become actual neighbours this time," Mira spoke with a smile on her face.
"I also didn't expect the family that moved in to be yours."
While the two women were talking, Estelle had her eyes locked on the family portrait in the room.
There were four people in the photo, Noelle, her mother, her father and her brother.
While Noelle seemed to have inherited most of her mother's looks, her brother looked more like their father.
'I bet that stinky brat still isn't as tall as me.' She thought, an evil grin on her face.
"Aunty…um is big sis Noelle home?"
She wanted to ask if that brat was home but decided to use Noelle as an excuse at the last second.
"Yes, it's been only the two of us at home for a while now, her father is on a business trip and that brat of mine ran off to his grandparents' side to play without even telling anyone." Nicole couldn't help but feel a little incensed when he spoke about his son.
"Girls are still the best, my daughter wouldn't do anything to give me headaches." She sighed.
Hearing that, Mira couldn't help but chuckle before shooting Estelle a look.
Estelle felt immense danger at that moment and quickly stood up.
"Um…Aunty Nicole, I'm going to look for big sis Noelle. She's upstairs, right?" She spoke as she swiftly headed toward the stairs.
"Yes, the second room on the right."
"Got it."
Mira watched with a sly smile as Estelle disappeared upstairs before clicking her tongue in amusement.
"Look at the way she made a bolt for it. You said girls are the best, but it's quite the opposite in my home; her brother is mostly well behaved, while she's always getting into one trouble after another."
"Now that you mention it, I think while Adrian and Noelle got along well back then, she seemed to be always fighting with Seth," Nicole recalled.
There was a brief pause as the two women suddenly made eye contact before bursting into laughter.
When women, women with children especially, got together, talking about their children would always be one of the most common topics.
Meanwhile, Estelle had long reached Noelle's door and was about to knock when the door was opened.
Estelle was momentarily stunned by the image of the person in front of her.
'Bis sis Noelle…. she's become so.. stunning.'
While Noelle was able to quickly recognise the person in front of her, Noelle had a confused expression on her face.
'Who is she?' She thought as she scrutinised Estelle with her eyes.
However, it didn't take long before her brain started putting things together.
Those emerald green eyes and her subtle resemblance to Adrian.
"Estelle?"
Hearing her name, Estelle nodded enthusiastically.
"Mm big sis Noelle, it's me."
"I can see that."
Noelle was astonished by how the cute little girl from three years ago had developed so much, especially…her gaze went downward for a moment before she quickly looked away.
Sigh….her fifteen-year-old self wasn't this 'blessed'
"How have you been?"
"Great, I missed you a lot while we were in England but I think big brother missed you even more."
"He missed me? Ha…" Noelle said with a mocking tone which Estelle didn't notice.
The younger girl also didn't notice the way her expression changed for a moment.
"Obviously." Estelle nodded before leaning closer to her. "Let me tell you a secret, big brother was planning to give you a surprise which is why he didn't send the letter for this month."
At first, Noelle planned to just casually listen to what Estelle had to say, but the more she listened, the wider her eyes got.
Now she had a lot of question marks dangling on her head.
"Letter for this month? What letter?"
She was so eager to figure out what was going on that she didn't notice that her voice had gone higher than usual.
