Android 18 woke up with a headache, already making her furious.
Then she saw a screen in front of her face with an annoyingly smug Bulma smiling at her.
"Morning, sleepy head."
She wanted to smash the screen and free herself, but she knew there would be important information if the blue-haired woman left a message, besides although she was conscious, her body was still immobilized.
"Wow, you didn't immediately destroy the monitor. I'll give you credit for that."
Then again, listening to this may be worse than going out blindly.
"Anyways, I know you are wondering what happened, well, it's simple, I sent you to another dimension."
18 was stunned; now she regretted more than ever having let her guard down.
"It should be a desolate wasteland with no living beings in sight, perfect for you to spend the rest of your miserable life."
Now, 18 was beyond furious; if Bulma was in front of her, 18 would rip her limbs one by one before killing her.
"If this world is inhabited, I can only apologize to the people there, but I had no choice, you took so much from us and would have continued to take until there was nothing left."
With those words, the hatch opened and 18 was free once again. Her body was sore and she felt stiff, but still she knew she would be back to normal in a few minutes and she got the perfect targets to loosen her muscles.
"Stay away, that is an order from the ruler of these lands."
Judging by the attire and actitud she guessed he was some king of royal, yet the ones surrounding him looked like regular thugs.
She smirked, causing the men to aim their guns at her.
"Stay where you are, doll, my hand might slip if you provoked me."
The man said with a lustful smile, he wasn't able to feel the terror that his boss was experiencing.
King Tuc was hearing the voices of the kings of old, the scepter was channeling their fear as hundreds of voices screamed for him to run.
Then the blonde woman just vanished and so did the head of the man who had spoken before.
By the time they turned to see what happened, she was already in front of another.
"So even in another world, you flesh and blood types are just as fragile."
Her hand went inside the chest of the mercenary and she missed the heart, but then she shot a ki blast from inside his body, killing the person behind him.
"Open fire"
The lab was filled with the sound of gunfire, as the bullets bounced off her, she thought about her situation.
It sucked that she was tricked by that woman, but she actually had no attachment to that world; all she cared about was not getting bored and being free to do as she pleased, so a new world was actually a good thing.
New cities, new fights and new experiences, maybe some nice clothes and entertainment, she could explore this place for a while and then capture some smart meatbag and force it to make her a machine to find her original world and blow it up.
"Whatever, I'm already here, so may as well have some fun."
She finally noticed the stunned mercenaries who used all their ammo and were reloading desperately.
She couldn't help but laugh at their actions; they were actually thinking that it would work the second time they tried, after firing all their bullets.
Did these idiots thought the next bullets would work better than the previous ones?
Well, people in her world still used guns against her even when they knew cannons and missiles were useless, so maybe humans are dumb in every world.
Then, like a flare, an energy attack flew towards her, heat irradiated from the beam as she raised her hand and absorbed the destructive power of the scepter of Ra.
The energy felt weird, like nothing she had seen before; it wasn't ki or electricity, more like a fundamental force of the universe, even if it was just a very small fraction.
King Tuc was still shooting while being surrounded by an energy field.
"Die, in the name of my ancestors, the great kings of old, you must die by my hand."
He was sweating and panting, his body too weak to handle the power of his weapon, yet he pushed himself out of pure survival instinct, like a dying animal biting for the last time.
Some of the smartest mercenaries attempted to run towards the exit while she was distracted, others fired the recently reloaded guns out of sheer stupidity and panic.
It was a scene of chaos everywhere except at one point.
Android 18 was standing still, she was absorbing the attack from King Tuc while ignoring the rest of the men around her.
When the laser finally stopped, she aimed her hand at the tired Professor Mcelroy and she fired a ki blast.
The force field was activated, delaying the attack for a moment, then the beam pierced through. King Tuc lost his legs and the scepter broke.
He was crawling on the floor trying to get away, while screams, begging and crying were going on behind him.
In that moment, he got his sanity back, he felt guilty for his actions and regret for being here. If only he hadn't hit his head, or if he hadn't come to Egypt.
But it was too late, the room was now silent and he could hear slow steps coming behind him.
"Stop, please."
He turned and saw the blonde woman looking coldly at him. He knew he was already dead, but even a walking corpse will try to cheat the reaper.
"I wasn't in my right mind. I am a professor at Gotham University; I can be useful to you, so please."
She stopped and he felt relieved that maybe he could reason with her.
"How boring."
She raised one hand above her head and then a light covered the room, which was the last thing William Mcelroy ever saw.
When she finished, the lab was destroyed. She did it for two reasons: one, she detested laboratories and seeing the containment chamber made her sick; and second, she wanted to destroy any information about her that the place could have.
Looking around, she saw desert in every direction as far as the eye could see. Hoping this wasn't some post-apocalyptic world, she flew around until she saw a city in the distance.
She landed on the top of a building and looked at the city below. It didn't seem to be a major capital or a tourist destination, just a regular place for offices and stores.
"Well, this is better than nothing."
She took the time to use the elevator to go down to the street. It had been a while since she was able to walk around without causing a panic.
Some guys were staring at her. She was beautiful, and she looked like a young tourist.
Of course, some were having dumb ideas, but the majority just watched her from afar. It reminded her of the times when 17 and 16 were with her, and they stole cars and did all kinds of stupid things just to have fun.
Then she stopped walking.
"Wait, who is 16?"
Logically, she knew there was an android 16, but she never met him, or did she?
Her confusion lasted only a moment, then she just started walking again.
She found a clothing store and entered without thinking. She saw the outfits and found them cute and stylish. She had to admit the fashion was better in this world, remembering some of the options in her previous world was a little depressing.
The store clerk was helpful and recommended several dresses and also cool jackets that fit her style pretty well. Once she finished, she had a lot of new outfits to wear and she was satisfied.
That's when she walked out of the store and the problems began.
"Sorry, miss, but you forgot to pay for that."
When was the last time she paid for anything? She didn't even have money from her previous world, much less this one.
So she just kept walking until she felt a hand grab her wrist. It was a disgusting feeling; the disadvantage of no one knowing who she was is that the people were bolder and did things that nobody who knew her would do.
In a single movement, she slapped the arm of the man and threw him back into the store. The only reason he was still alive by the end was that he wasn't worth the effort of finishing him up.
Like a bear seeing a mouse, as long as it didn't get in her way, she could ignore it.
Still, she decided money was needed to stop this from happening again, so she asked around and found a bank, then she ripped an ATM from the wall and took all the money inside.
A security guard screamed at her, but when he saw her kick the machine, sending it flying, he ran away.
She left and went around the city buying jewelry and accessories, also ate in restaurants, and got some ice cream.
She didn't need to eat, but it was nice to taste delicious food.
She found a hotel and paid to stay the night, but she didn't sleep and was using a device she bought.
A cellphone with internet connection, she had seen similar devices, and after getting the explanation from the employee who sold it to her, she knew how to look stuff up and so she learned the basic info about this world.
She saw the so-called superheroes and she wasn't impressed. They were public figures who had a club and stopped robberies and other petty bullshit.
It was like a kid's idea of what being a warrior was. She wasn't going to go look for them, but if they got in her way, she would deal with them.
She explored the city, going to bars and parties, watching movies and having normal fun.
It got old by the second day, that's when she started hearing the hotel being evacuated, then she saw the police cars outside and smiled.
She almost laughed when she heard the guy ordering to put her hands up. She could have shot him in the head, but his expression when the car behind him blew up was hilarious.
They fired and she confirmed that the armament was less advanced here, at least what these guys were using.
She remembered fighting the resistance of her world. By the time she was sent here, they were using lasers and rail guns, full-body mechanical suits and very powerful bombs.
It was just as ineffective, but if these guys were throwing napkins at her, the ones on her own dimension were throwing pillows in comparison.
She waited to see if they had something else, after all, even the random thugs had a guy that could shoot lasers around, but after waiting enough to make sure they weren't preparing something else, she decided to start cleaning the area.
She aimed at the nearest guy and shot, just to miss due to someone moving him out of the way.
That is where she met the superheroes, 6 in total, looking very young and too relax for the situation, it was as if they were sure they could beat her.
The only one who seemed afraid was the blonde with the bow.
18 was surprised to see a weapon like that. She started to think and she realized that nobody had ever shot at her with one of those.
The sheer absurdity was funny, so she played with them for a while. She also found out that they knew about her.
That woman must have done something to make sure her message was received.
When 18 left, she was sure all the equipment was destroyed, but Bulma was a genius and she could have set up something to appear after 18 left.
She should have destroyed the entire building and the surroundings.
Well, she had just woken up and she got immediately distracted, so nobody could blame her for being a little careless.
18 was just standing in the middle of a tornado, waiting for the teens to make a plan.
She had seen many groups do the same; they failed to do anything with the initial attack and they grouped up to improvise something.
As always, this was just entertainment for her; she wanted to kill some time and they were good enough for that.
Then he said it, the salt on the wound, the reminder that she had lost her brother and was tricked and defeated by a regular human.
She saw red and acted accordingly; it was no longer a fight for fun, it was a punishment, she would hurt them and kill them slowly and painfully.
She would take them apart and kill them one by one; it was easy; even the fastest was slower than her.
So destroying him first and then killing the others was the best way to do it.
She dismantled them and they were defenseless, yet somehow they managed to escape.
Then the others arrived and things got complicated; there were too many enemies and she was being overwhelmed.
In the end, she had to escape for the first time in a long time.
Now she was walking alone, wearing a disguise, hiding was something she never thought she had to do and she was bad at it.
Because someone found her faster than she expected.
"It was quite the show you gave us."
"Who are you?"
"Just a friend who wants to welcome you into the light"
"Are you selling lamps or something? not interested"
The man smiled; he didn't seem insulted or angry at her comment.
"I sold a few a couple of decades ago, but that is not the reason I am here."
He was a massive man with a beard and scars on his face. He walked with confidence and despite having apparently watched her in action, he wasn't nervous or afraid.
"You are quite eye-catching. I took some effort and resources to make sure they didn't find you."
"Should I thank you for the help, or should we skip to the part where you ask for something?"
She had seen them before as well, the desperate doing stuff for her, like killing their friends in her name or giving her information about the location of others to be spared.
It was pathetic and not fun, so she always kills them without listening to them, but maybe this one would show her something new.
"I'm not here to ask you for something, I'm here to make you an offer."
"What could you possibly offer me?"
"This world"
BANG💥
Her ki blast pierced his forehead and he fell like a cow that got tipped over.
"How boring, I don't care about conquering the world, let the bugs handle other bugs."
"Ha, hahaha, AHAHAHAHAA."
He got up, slightly surprising the android.
"It was a good decision to come here myself."
"Regeneration, you remind me of someone else I knew."
"I assure you, I am not like anyone you ever met."
"This just got fun, ok, I'll hear you out, mister?"
"Vandal Savage"
"You have to be kidding with that name."
"Says someone called Android 18."
She went silent. That was a good point and also showed he knew more than just what happened in the city.
"Whatever, just say what you want to say, before I pick you up and throw you into the sun."
She couldn't actually survive in space, but he didn't need to know that and by his reaction, she knew that was actually a good treat.
"As you wish, we at the light can help you to stay under the radar and do what you want; we have resources and helpers all over the world."
"I don't work for humans."
"Not for us, with us."
He saw her frowning and clarified.
"The so-called heroes are working together; you experience it firsthand."
"So what?"
"What if they were busy elsewhere, what if someone else was with you and could help you?"
"So like a club of weaklings, I don't need help."
"No needing and not having are two different things; even if you can win, it would be hard to do so alone, so let us help you make it easier."
He showed her a bag with clothes, she recognized that it was the ones she got in the city and forgot to bring when she left the hotel.
She was going to refuse when she thought for a moment and had an idea.
"Ok"
Savage was slightly taken aback by her sudden agreement. He thought she would need more convincing; he was planning to leak her location to the heroes and help her while they teamed up against her.
"Ok?"
"Yeah, ok, but let's give this partnership a test run."
He could see where this was going.
"What do you have in mind?"
"Something fun."
