Chapter 20 - A Disappointing Turn Out Of Events

[3000XP to raise the Borrow Lv.1 skill to Lv.2]

[3000XP to raise the Bond Lv.1 skill to Lv.2]

"Hm…" Ethan considered a few things while looking through the screens.

The only classes in active use were the summoner and caster class.

Since the system brought nothing about leveling the summoner talent up, it meant he had reached the peak of what was attainable as a summoner.

If that was truly attainable by any other.

He was the only person he knew with a talent level above S. Still, this body was inexperienced, so there was no way he could judge properly based only on the original Ethan's limited knowledge.

However, having the talent without the right summon to fit didn't just feel right.

Albedo did prove herself useful today, true, but in a straight battle of strength, she could possibly still lose to Wilson.

So he decided to reserve at the very least a thousand experience points to raise his summoner level, knowing that it would guarantee him another summon.

Hopefully, it'd be a much stronger one.

His Guardian, Ranger, and Warrior talents were still too weak. Although he had no one to put him through understanding those classes yet, he knew they'd still have to be high enough to learn anything worthwhile.

With that conclusion, he instructed the system through his thoughts to level those talents up.

[Guardian Talent has leveled up to D]

[Ranger Talent has leveled up to C]

[Warrior Talent has leveled up to C]

[Total Experience Points left: 12,900]

Seeing the magi-engineer class reminded him of one person the most today. Lucy. The fact that she could construct an explosive like that in mere minutes was really intriguing.

And of course, knowing and understanding the right components to construct it that fast required a high talent. On that note, he instructed the system to level the magi-engineer talent too.

[Magi-engineer Talent has leveled up to B]

[Total Experience Points left: 9,400]

A part of him also gave a brief thought to that diagram Lucy presented to him, and he thought perhaps if Stark Industries could get working on something like that, it'd be absolutely wonderful.

"I should really get back to the Hargreeves soon," he muttered to himself, before staring at the saber talent screen.

"Hm…" he muttered before making his Legendary sword, Ragnarok, appear in his grip.

It looked like a regular double-edged sword, and nothing about it gave it any sort of legendary status.

"Where did you get a weapon like that?" Albedo, who had just finished putting on one of Ethan's shirts, asked.

"You know what, I think it's time I sent you back," Ethan said, as he wasn't sure he liked her getting comfortable in his own clothes.

"Oh please, summoner," Albedo rolled her eyes as she walked to his side and sat on the bed with both her legs folded underneath. "So tell me, how did you get your hands on a sword like that?"

Ethan sighed, then turned back his attention to the blade and said, "It looks like a regular sword to me."

"It's not," Albedo said. "I can tell a powerful weapon by just looking at it."

"Didn't know you had a skill like that," Ethan said.

Albedo shook her head. "It's not a skill. I guess you can say I was born that way."

"I see. Well, it's not doing anything. Maybe there's some sort of condition to unlock its power," Ethan said while staring at it thoughtfully.

"Can I have a feel of the sword?" Albedo asked, stretching out her hand.

Ethan made a weird face that suggested he definitely wasn't going to do that, which made Albedo grin. "Oh, c'mon, I won't kill you with it. I would prefer doing that with a shorter blade."

"You're not exactly helping your argument, demon," Ethan said, moving the hand holding the sword further away.

"Okay, fine. Make it a command or something," she said, rolling her eyes.

"Damn right I will. You will harm absolutely no one with this sword," Ethan said, and at once it became a command. He wasn't taking chances with the crazy assassin.

Albedo shook her head while taking the sword Ethan had now extended to her. She stood up, swinging it around a bit as she said, "It might be faint, but I sense something from within the sword."

Then she stopped and turned towards Ethan. "This most certainly is a powerful weapon, summoner."

Ethan had a concerned look on his face as he extended his arm to take back the sword.

She handed it back to Ethan, who still looked puzzled, wondering why he couldn't feel anything from it.

He sighed. The one weapon he would not have minded raising his saber talent for, wasn't even working right, and that left a sour taste in his mouth.

Suddenly a thought crossed his mind. "Or does this have anything to do with the talent level itself?" he said to himself while Albedo stared.

It was a hypothesis that made common sense. Casters couldn't use spells they had no comprehension of, so maybe perhaps sabers were unable to use certain special swords if they didn't have the potential talent to match it either.

Well, there was only one way to find out, which is why he then decided to have the talent leveled up.

[Saber Talent has leveled up to A]

[Total Experience Points left: 4,900]

He looked at the blade again. "C'mon, do something…"

"…anything?"

But absolutely nothing happened.

"Agh, darn it!" he exclaimed, and right then he let go of the weapon to disappear back into his system's inventory.

He did seem annoyed, which was fair, to be honest. He let out another sigh as he returned focus back to the screens.

There wasn't enough experience points left to affect the caster talent, but that seemed fine to him regardless.

A talent at S was still the highest attainable for any others he'd heard of.

His attention shifted back to the summoner level, and he instructed the system to level that up. And right then it did.

[You have reached Summoner Level 2]

[Congrats! You've gained a new summon]

[Summon Name: Finn The Shot]

"Hm…" Ethan muttered. Then said, "Come, Finn."
