Chapter 6 - The 0.1%

Eduardo looked stunned from hearing that reply from Ethan. He had never spoken like that before about anyone, let alone his parents.

Eduardo understood people could change, but this? No, something didn't seem right.

The butler then asked, "Master Ethan, can I ask why you want this all of a sudden?"

Ethan sighed. "You would say anything but give me an answer to my question."

He shook his head in disappointment, then added, "Like I said before, a lot of changes will happen here, and moreover, can a man not want to be whole again?"

"To be whole again?" Eduardo thought to himself. "Wait… could it be? But how?"

Eduardo was just about to ask Ethan another question. "Master Ethan, have you—?"

But Ethan stopped him right at that spot. "Have you…" was a way to start another question and had nothing to do with giving him the answers he wanted.

The young Stark had lost his patience and said directly to him, "Eduardo, no more questions. Tell me now, do you know how we undo this?"

Eduardo sighed. He went silent for a moment, then began. "Your father had a very powerful caster from the Hemilton Family do the spell that suppresses your other parts. The caster used a specific kind of spell and her own blood as the binding agent to perform such a powerful seal, and so only another caster from the same family who has the knowledge of that spell will be able to undo the seal."

"Fuck," was the first thing Ethan whispered. "Are you seriously kidding me right now? Hemilton Family? The same family that House Le Gris sent into extinction five years ago?"

Eduardo said, "Yes, Master Ethan, that same family. But I wouldn't say they are extinct. They are just in hiding or don't show themselves that much."

About five years ago, the two families fell into a feud over territory or business. It was hard to say which, given that both were involved in illegal dealings.

However, that feud turned into a full-blown family war, and it got so bad that the King of Gritnia had to step in.

But some people said the King stepped in too late. The family head had been killed, and most of the bearers of the name had died along with him. Whatever was left of the family after the King stepped in simply vanished.

Even if you met a Hemilton today, they'd never agree they were one simply because they feared they might still be hunted by the Le Gris.

Ethan thought of what to do for a moment, then finally spoke. "Eduardo, you must find me a Hemilton caster from whatever is left of them. Make this person an offer so generous they cannot refuse, and if they have other family members, let them know Stark Industries will put each of them in employment."

Eduardo nodded and said, "Yes, Master Ethan, but I must warn you not to get your hopes up. Finding just any caster from their family and finding a caster with the knowledge of that particular spell are two different things."

Ethan sighed. "I know that, Eduardo. But what pisses me off the most is why exactly my father would go through such lengths to bind me? What could he possibly be protecting me from?"

Eduardo went silent for a moment. He knew he didn't need to answer that question, but he'd already started indulging Ethan, so he might as well see this to the end.

First, he quickly moved to the balcony and closed the door leading out to it, then returned to the main entrance and closed it too.

Ethan looked at him with a puzzled expression.

It might be a big mansion, but the only other person in the house right now aside from them both was the house cook, Francesca, who definitely was a few hours deep in sleep.

Eduardo returned to Ethan's side and spoke in lower tones. "Master Ethan, do you know why hybrids are hated in most parts of the world today?"

"Uh, I don't know… because they can control their forms and choose to hide what they are? I mean, most hybrids can appear as regular humans and you wouldn't even know…"

Ethan thought more. "Or is it because even though they possess half parts of two races, they are still much weaker than those who are purely from a single species?"

Eduardo replied, "Well, yes, yes, all these are not far from the truth. Even the laws of this world indirectly call them outcasts, which is why 99.9% of them are born that way. To be weaker than a single whole."

There was a pause, then Eduardo added, "But there's a 0.1%…"

"Hm…" Ethan muttered, listening intently to grasp the rest of Eduardo's point.

Eduardo continued, "Long before you were born, there was a man. The hybrid Mikael. He was part wolf and part vampire, but he didn't have the same weakness the other hybrids had. In fact, due to his ancestry, he was every bit of a full-blooded wolf and every bit of a pure-blood vampire"

"With such combined power and the blessing of two classes at high talent levels, in no time he quickly reached the peak of both classes. At some point, not even the seven vampire lords or the seven wolf alphas could defeat him in single combat."

Ethan looked astonished hearing this.

Eduardo continued, "The family leaders felt threatened, and for the first time, vampires and werewolves worked together to bring one man down."

Then he paused for a moment and looked at Ethan. At this point, he was unsure if he should continue or not, until Ethan asked him, "What is it, Eduardo?"

"You're part of that 0.1%, Master Ethan. You are half-demon and half-dragon, but you're every bit a single whole."

That part didn't exactly have Ethan shocked, because the way he understood it, or at least the way Allen did, hybrids were always meant to be the better of both species. It's just that it was different in this world.

Eduardo continued and said, "Now, the Dragon Emperor and the Demon King may not see eye to eye on most things, but they would never stand the sight of a hybrid, not to talk of one who has the potential to challenge them one day. If your existence was ever discovered, you'll be dealing with the two most powerful beings of this world."

It was then that Ethan felt himself go tense with worry.

"This was why your parents left their true families and continents and came to this one, taking the name Stark. But they knew even that wasn't enough, and your father then made that decision to have your hybrid nature sealed," Eduardo said.

Ethan couldn't deny that he wasn't a bit tense at this point. Did he really die from his world just to come here and be under threat? To think he'd selected to get put into this body.

"Fuck! I should have waited for more background information on this Ethan boy before telling Lord Reincarnation to drop my soul in it," he thought to himself.

He took a breath in and exhaled, continuing in his thoughts. "Allen, calm down. You're already fidgeting like this pussy boy Ethan would, and you're no goddamn pussy."

There was another pause, and then he suddenly thought to himself again. "But then, what's the worst that could happen? I die again at best, and it's not like I haven't experienced what death feels like. Yeah, fuck that. Allen, this is your second chance at life, and the last thing you're going to do is not live it to the fullest."

A smile broke across Ethan's lips, and he turned up to look at Eduardo, then said, "I'm glad you told me all these. Perhaps you also did because you want me to understand the risks I'm getting into and even stop at once. But my orders remain the same. You will find me that Hemilton. And if the day arrives when the Demon King or Dragon Emperor come for me, then so be it."
