Chapter 40 - Chapter 40: Camping!? (3)

Now that we're done introducing ourselves, let's start the first game," Jin Bong-seul announced.

After everyone finished their dances, the director called for a cut and had all the SEVENTEEN members change into the outfits prepared by the company. Each of them put on a white shirt with the SEVENTEEN logo printed on the front and their surname displayed across the upper back.

With the sun growing hotter by the minute, they moved toward the far end of the lawn, gathering under five tall trees planted there to get some shade. Only then did the game officially begin.

"The majors will be with me," Jin Bong-seul continued, "and the minors will team up with Baek Hyun-soo."

Baek Hyun-soo stepped forward with a grin. "The first game is a basic physical test called Duck Feet Relay."

Llana nodded along with the others. The rules were simple: wearing diving fins, they would race toward the far end, where a table had been set up, and read the task placed on top of it. After completing the task, the player would run back to their group, tagging the next member to go.

Each person would repeat the same process. The first team to finish the entire challenge would be declared the winner.

"For every game, you'll be given a random prize," Jin Bong-seul continued as the staff placed a box on the foldable table in front of them. "This is it. We'll draw one prize from here, and that will be what you're competing for. Understood? So yes, you'll be fighting for these prizes."

She glanced at the team beside her and added with a small smile, "Majors, don't let them win a single round. We have to take all the prizes."

"NE~!"

Llana and the rest of the major team laughed as they responded loudly, a hint of competitiveness sparking among them.

"For the first prize of this game…" Baek Hyun-soo stepped forward and reached into the box. He pulled out a blue ball, looked at it for a second, then read, "Self-Care Maintenance."

He nodded lightly. "We'll reveal the specific details later. For now, let's start the match."

"After I count to three, each group will send their first player," Jin Bong-seul said.

"Three… two… one!"

Chaeyoung stepped forward for the majors, while Minyoung moved out for the minors.

"SON CHAEYOUNG, FIGHTING!" The majors cheered.

"SONG MINYOUNG! SONG MINYOUNG! FIGHTING!!" The minors answered back, their voices filling the lawn.

Llana watched with amusement.

The two of them already looked funny, and she couldn't help snickering. Her attention soon stayed on Chaeyoung, who was clearly struggling with the fins as they were too big, causing her to nearly stumble every few steps.

Chaeyoung started off strong, full of competitiveness, but halfway through she gave up and began walking instead.

"Chaeyoung, ppalli!" Llana shouted, cupping her hands around her mouth like an improvised megaphone.

"Yah! You're not strolling in a park. Don't forget we're competing!" Somi yelled as Chaeyoung took her sweet time, the other team already working on their mission while Chaeyoung was still only halfway there.

"CHAEYOUNG, PPALLI!"

Jihyo's powerful voice rang out.

Llana besides her winced and covered one ear, she turned at Jihyo laughing helplessly as she made a tiny turning-down motion with her fingers. "Unnie… please lower your decibels. A little?"

Jihyo blinked before bursting into laughter " ne~ Hahaha."

The minors finished first and immediately sent Dahyun.

Dahyun waddled forward, her movements so awkward she looked like a little frog running around on its hind legs.

Llana couldn't help bursting another laugh.

Chaeyoung finally arrived and her team sent Somi who quickly caught up with her long strides making up for lost time.

Their task was simple but dizzying.

It's the Elephant nose spin game where they have to do 10 spins.

Somi finished first without much trouble.

Dahyun, on the other hand, struggled.

One of her fins slipped off, causing her to topple to the ground. She stood up again, only to lose her balance and fall a second time.

Llana laughed so hard her stomach hurt, especially at Dahyun's dramatic expression as she collapsed onto the grass.

"Llana, you'll go next, okay?" Jihyo said.

"Okay~" Llana replied, giving an okay sign as she readied herself.

She took the fins just as Somi arrived back and ran out confidently, moving faster.

'It seems its easy than it looks,' Llana thought For a moment feeling proud.

That was when her foot caught.

She hadn't lifted her stride high enough, causing the fin to collide with the grass making her stumble ungracefully.

"Woah—!"

She stumbled forward, flailing slightly before falling onto the grass in an ungraceful heap.

Laughter immediately erupted from both teams.

Llana groaned, "Ugh me and my mouth."

Llana stood up. Reaching the table, she looked down at her task.

Then visibly relaxed.

It's a math problem.

(24 × 3) − (18 / 2) + 6 = ?

'Oh, that's easy,' Llana thought. She already knew the answer just by looking at it. She turned to the PD. "Do I have to answer it verbally?" she asked, noticing there was no pen.

"Yes. You have to answer verbally," the PD replied.

"Okay. It's 69," Llana said confidently.

"Correct."

Llana turned and awkwardly made her way back.

The game continued, and the majors ultimately won the first round, earning a beauty care treatment coupon as their reward. Two more games followed.

The next was charades with a twist. Each team had to send one person to place her feet into a basin filled with ice cubes, acting as a timer. The moment they removed their feet, the time ended.

Llana volunteered without hesitation. With her perseverance, she was confident she could last longer than the others.

After the games, they enjoyed a picnic under the trees and even went on a banana boat ride, the day passing in waves of laughter and excitement.

The day ended filled with happiness...but it didn't last long.

As night fell, what Llana had been worrying about finally became a reality.
