Chapter 115 - The Magic Circle Bracelet

After shopping like this for a while, Adrian picked out and bought lots of materials for making potions, planning to practice after returning home.

In the future, dark magical items might not be easy to sell. To make the family business better, maybe he could make some potions to try.

Given Dougt's status as the former Deputy Director of St. Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries, Adrian asked for advice on making and selling potions.

"Are you planning to sell potions?" Dougt stopped walking.

"Listen, making potions is never easy. If the various processes are even slightly off, the effect will be very different. Maybe you've successfully made some potions in Potions class at Hogwarts, but that's far from the level where they can be sold!"

"For a potion to be sold, it not only needs to have a significant effect but also strong stability, not leave the buyer unsure of what the potion will do before drinking it."

Dougt patiently explained to Adrian, then even suggested, "If you're interested in potions, I recommend you spend some time in the Potions Department at St. Mungo's after graduation."

Adrian listened carefully, but he still had confidence in his potion skills. Especially in experience card mode, even bloodline fusion potions that required Level 6 potion skills could be made smoothly.

"Well, you go around the area by yourself. Don't get too far away, and call me if something happens." At that moment, as if Dougt had discovered something, he grabbed some Galleons from his pocket and gave them to Adrian. After giving instructions, he squeezed toward a lively stall.

Adrian took the money without refusing. Taking advantage of this opportunity, he'd wanted to buy something anyway, so he'd just assume it was borrowed and return it when he had money.

By the way, Adrian glanced in the direction Dougt was heading and found several wizards and goblins playing cards, probably a gambling spot. He suddenly lost interest.

"Drinking... gambling... extortion. How did this character become deputy director in the first place?" Adrian shook his head, looking at Dougt's enthusiastic appearance as he sat down there.

After Dougt left, Adrian relaxed and walked around the wizarding market freely.

With the identification function of the system, Adrian felt he might be able to find some good things in the market.

Special offer: Dragon liver, seven Sickles per ounce...

Acromantula venom, only sixty Galleons.

There were all sorts of strange things at various small stalls with endless shouting, many priced far below Diagon Alley's market rates.

But relatively speaking, this place was also chaotic. Many of the goods sold were fake or defective products, difficult to distinguish with the naked eye.

Adrian saw a Nimbus 2000 selling for only sixty Galleons at one stall, but after checking it, he found this thing only had a pitiful top speed of forty miles per hour. He didn't know what method they'd used to make it look like a Nimbus 2000.

In the end, Adrian only found something worth buying at an inconspicuous small stall.

It was a silver bracelet that seemed to be made from some animal bones strung together. The clasp at the end had a circular mark on which seventeen magical texts were arranged in a certain order.

These were brand new ancient runes he didn't recognize, even the book about ancient runes that Irene had given him didn't mention them.

At the moment of contact, the system's information appeared in Adrian's mind.

[Magical Item: Magic Circle]

[Magic Power: Low (High)]

[Effect: Condenses magic power, repels objects within one meter (three meters) of the wearer's body]

[Description: It only looks intact on the surface, but due to improper use by the holder, this bracelet is close to breaking. You can only activate its power twice.]

"This magic circle costs nine hundred Galleons!" said the short wizard behind the stall. Noticing Adrian was only around eleven or twelve, he didn't seem particularly interested, but he still gave a brief introduction.

"As long as you pour magic power in, the stored magic can explode when needed, and the force can knock an adult wizard into the air."

"A thing that's about to break, and you dare sell it so expensive?" Adrian glanced at him and said without hesitation.

The short wizard was stunned first, then furious.

"Damaged? This is intact! If you can't afford it, get lost!"

"Really? Not necessarily." Adrian said as he took out ten Galleons from his pocket and placed them on the stall.

"This is ten Galleons. How about a bet? Your magic circle can only be used twice, and the effect isn't half of what you said. If I lose, the money's yours. If I win, the bracelet's mine."

The short wizard shut up. Over the past few months setting up this stall, many wizards had been able to see there was a problem with the bracelet, but this was the first one to be so precise.

Even he himself wasn't sure how many times this bracelet could be used, only that it would break soon.

"My family sells magical items," Adrian explained.

The short wizard understood and, after looking at him for a while, said with frustration, "Sixty Galleons. You can take it if you want. Maybe it can still be repaired."

"Six Galleons. I'll tell you with the most professional judgment, this has research value at most." Adrian didn't understand market prices, so he just cut the price drastically.

The short wizard looked at him for a while, then offered him one word.

"Leave!"

"If the price is too low, we can talk again." Adrian didn't leave and knew the bargaining had been too harsh, so his tone softened considerably.

In the end, Adrian finally got it at the price of thirty-five Galleons after a tough negotiation.

Did I make a profit? Or take a loss?

Adrian put the bracelet on his left hand, struggling with this question in his mind. But thinking that the really precious thing might be the magical text on it, he felt better.

Seeing the sky gradually darken, Adrian didn't go to other stalls but found Dougt, who was still playing cards at that small stall.

The stall owner seemed to be a goblin. He was casually draped in a piece of cloth and sat on a tall stool. If it weren't for the stall owner's position with some Galleons placed in front of him, Adrian would have thought he was a house-elf brought out by a wizard.

"Losing?" Adrian stepped forward, looked at the situation on the table, and asked Dougt.

He didn't know how to play wizard cards, but just looking at everyone's expressions told the story. The stall owner goblin was always smiling, and the other two card players' faces weren't very good. The worst expression belonged to Dougt, his facial features were almost squeezed together.
