The one contacting him just now was his one and only friend, Austin jade. He had an appointment to meet with Austin at 10 in the morning at the newly built Café in the city where they will both have breakfast together.
What he did not expect was that he completely forgot about this meeting and now his friend will definitely not leave the matter of him missing the meeting alone.
'I think I have to pay for Austin's Breakfast to make it up to him'
Thinking of this he immediately left the breakfast table and headed toward the garage of the vast mansion in which he was currently living. Though the family was not good to him they were wealthy and every end of month he will have some coins rolling towards him. He was allowed a car which he can use to go outside without a family member needing only a free driver.
As soon as he got to the garage he asked one of the servants hired by the family to give him a ride to the Café. The servant readily agreed and he immediately got on the passenger's seat urging the driver to be quick. The driver's face though full of confusion did not ask anything and took him straight towards their destination.
Once he arrived at the café he immediately took out his cell phone with the intent to call his friend and ask where he was. After a full Ring when he Thought his friend will not pick, the call was finally connected. The voice came straight away "Where were you so busy as to not attend my call?"
He Replied, "I was just doing some urgent work and could not reply, leave those little thing aside, tell me where are you?"
Austin Replied, "You just wait I will be there in a moment"
Then the Call was disconnected. Thinking of the situation he could do nothing about Evan got moving toward the café after asking the driver to go back alone.
He found an empty seat next to window and his thought clouded toward his future course of action. His situation though might seem good but was not that well.
'All the Resources that father has have mostly goes in supporting the eldest brother.'
'If from what I have heard correctly about the eldest brother receiving 10000 credits a month is true means I will not have much support from the family in the future.
After all, most of the resources goes toward the eldest. He receives a measly 100 credit which cannot support him at all after becoming an awakened. To support his future, he has thought of joining one of the top Academy of the Red Leaf Federation.
The Federation where he resides is Red Leaf Consisting of Many Big cities. The Federation has three top Academies Namely 'Broken Sword Academy', 'Green Flame Academy, 'Water palace academy'.
He has decided to become part of the 'Broken Sword Academy' as it places heavy importance on the acquired knowledge and intelligence of the candidates. His chances of joining an academy is higher if he depends on his brain rather than a sword which he will have to fight with those who are resource boosted individual. Thinking about the difficult assessment he has to face to become part of the academy he became nervous. As this was his only chance to towards a bright life in the Future.
Just as he was contemplating about the Future a hand landed on his Shoulder as he looked towards the owner of the hand he found his friend Austin grinning.
"why are you zoning out in broad daylight" Austin Asked
This friend of his was of the same age as him and slightly taller with a naïve face.
"Why are you not replying when I asked you something. Don't tell me you were thinking about my Handsome Face"
Swatting his friends Hand away, Evan Replied "It must be The Bad fortune of my past life to think About your face, Austin"
"You don't have to be shy Evan, oh and look what I have got here with me"
After Saying this Austin took out and Started Juggling a Blue Crystal in his hand. Evan Stared at the crystal for a while and asked "Don't tell me that's a water crystal"
"Bingo, you got it Right but There is no prize"
Evan was astonished by the Water crystal as this thing Costed more than 20000 Credits and this here was in the hands of his dumb friend juggling it like a circus clown.
"Don't play with it if the crystal falls and breaks you will have to steal from your father's secret treasure stash to compensate for this."
"There will be no need to compensate, I stole this from fathers Stash"
Evan: "...…."
Austin said jokingly: "Don't give me that look you will make me blush"
Trying to ignore what Austin just said Evan spoke about the main point. "Why did you steal something which you don't even have any use of". Austin replied nonchalantly that he was just honing his skills
Evan Asked: "So, don't tell me you called me here just to show off?"
Austin Stopped joking sat on the opposite chair and Replied: "I called you here to ask you about what you plan after the awakening"
Evan hearing this truthfully tells his friend about what he was contemplating before Austin appeared. Austin was astonished to hear his friend having such such grand aspirations to even join one of the top academies of the federation. Knowing that all those who successfully graduate from such academies are Tier 2 individuals.
An Awakened in this world is considered tier 0, meaning everyone is tier 0 at the time of awakening, they gradually progress after awakening depending on their talent and resources. And becoming a tier 2 at the time of graduation is impossible for many. As the Difficulty of progression keeps on getting higher as one goes ahead on the path of awakening.
Thinking about the ambition of his friend to join 'Broken Sword Academy' Austin asks Evan how he even thought about such a thing.
Evan shrugging answered that he was just trying his best to have a good start in life. Surprised about His friend being clear on his goals Austin asked about what he knows about the academy.
Evan Answered: "From the information I have Gathered I know that the academy conducts an examination at the end of year for Fourteen year olds those who apply. This exam consists of theoretical questions one has to answer based on their understanding of Aether and Elements. Those that Qualify will be allowed an admission and treatment in the academy based on their scores"
Hearing about the information with Evan, Austin Answered "What you know is only the prologue, to actually get admitted into the academy one needs to have a high talent apart from passing the examination with the resources to fill the hefty application fees of 10000 credits and …."
Evan cuts in between "this was not even on the books that I read and why is there a 10000 credits application fees"
"Do you think they will conduct your exam for free"
Austin Continued "and also the other requirement is to take part in another assessment after Awakening in which you fail you can pack up"
Evan Knowing that he has considered taking Admission too lightly, he re-examined his plan to get in the academy. But he could not even think of how to arrange the application fees. Asking his petty father for money was no choice. Just as he was thinking about the money. He noticed the moron in front of him. What he actually noticed was not Austin but the Crystal in his hands.
Austin Noticing His friends line of sight took a second to understand what his friend was thinking.
"don't even think about the crystal, my father will hang me upside down"
Evan said with a flattering smile, "We have been friends for so long, how can you see your friend fend for himself in this harsh world"
Austin: "I just remembered something I will be back in a minute"
Evan "No, you are not going Anywhere"
Austin Understanding How Adamant Evan can be, sighed and asked, "How much have you been preparing for the examination?"
Evan replied knowing that Austin is willing to hear him answered Smilingly, "I am confident in clearing the examination and even getting good treatment at the academy"
Austin Asked, "Tell me what level of water purity can a newly awakened control?"
Evan Answered, "A Trick Question indeed, 30 to 40 % purity if someone is awakened with water affinity otherwise none."
Austin thinking that the one in front of him is his only friend and seems to be not joking about his confidence decided to help Evan this time "I am willing to help, but don't even think about the crystal, let's go the bank and see what can be done"
After that both of them headed towards the bank by walking Having Different Thoughts swirling in their minds.
