Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: The Assistant Girl

Enduring the tempting allure, Guan Xing carefully examined Hua Rubing's leg once more. Seeing no serious injury, he applied the ice medication to dissipate the lingering heat and then turned to leave.

Hua Rubing was a stunningly cold and elegant beauty. Years of working as a white-collar professional had imbued her with a mature charm. Even in such a semi-exposed state, she exuded a mesmerizing allure, stirring a rare impulse in Guan Xing—the master of charm among women—to get closer.

However, despite his flirtatious nature, he was not lewd. After applying the ice, he restrained himself and left the examination room without taking advantage of her.

"Dr. Guan, is Manager Hua okay?" Du Juan waited anxiously at the door.

"She's fine. Have her come back tomorrow for another ice treatment, and she should be fully recovered." Guan Xing's usual cold tone carried little warmth. "I'm going to lunch. Help her get ready."

Hua Rubing was still half-undressed, her white underwear barely concealing her exposed beauty. Guan Xing didn't want anyone to misinterpret the situation.

Du Juan obediently nodded and entered the room, but the sight of Hua Rubing left her momentarily shocked—long, graceful legs, smooth and pale as snow, exposed on the bed, pants crumpled between her thighs. The entire room radiated an unspoken tension.

Could it be… this handsome doctor was a pervert?

The faint, sorrowful moans she had heard earlier made her worry that Manager Hua had been taken advantage of. Du Juan was kind-hearted and pure; naturally, her imagination ran wild at the scene before her.

Ignoring her own shock, she hurried to the bed and shook Hua Rubing gently, calling out, "Manager Hua, wake up! Wake up—" No matter what had happened, she needed to rouse her first.

Reluctantly, Hua Rubing stretched, her arms long and languid, enjoying a rare moment of comfort. For the past six months, she hadn't slept so peacefully. Preparing for the annual performance review had consumed her completely; she arrived first in the morning and left last at night, giving herself entirely to the work.

Guan Xing's skilled touch, pressing the acupoints, eased her soreness and tingling, letting Hua Rubing drift into a deep, restful sleep. If it weren't for Du Juan's persistent shaking, she might have stayed asleep indefinitely.

"Xiao Juan, stop massaging, I'm finally resting," she murmured groggily, still unaware of the situation.

But Du Juan was anxious, exclaiming, "Manager Hua, wake up! Your clothes were off. Look—did anyone take advantage of you?" For women, purity was paramount.

Hearing this, Hua Rubing finally sat up, remembering what had happened. Her pants lay beside her, her delicate legs fully exposed in the dim light. Fortunately, no one had touched her underwear.

"Xiao Juan… oh no, I've been taken advantage of!" she thought furiously, though in reality, the doctor hadn't moved a muscle. She wondered how any man could resist such a sight. Her figure was remarkable, with a 36C bust—most men would surely desire her—but Guan Xing had remained completely indifferent.

Du Juan, genuinely frightened, paled and asked, "Manager Hua, do… do we need to call the police?"

Hua Rubing chuckled softly, her charm returning. She stood and slid her pants back under her legs. Then she asked, "Xiao Juan, do you think I'm pretty?"

"Of course you are," Du Juan replied honestly, confused by the sudden shift.

"But Dr. Guan… he doesn't seem interested in me at all."

"Manager Hua, you—"

"I'm fine. I took my pants off myself, and it seems his medical skills are excellent. I feel no major issue with my leg," she said, swinging it slightly. Finally, she was satisfied. She turned to the still-perplexed Du Juan, "This stays between us—don't tell anyone, understand?"

"I understand! Don't worry, Manager Hua, I won't say a word."

Du Juan didn't fully understand what had happened, nor why the manager's expression was so mixed. But seeing Hua Rubing unbothered, she breathed a sigh of relief—Dr. Guan was a gentleman after all.

When Guan Xing returned with lunch for Du Juan, his quiet consideration touched her. That he hadn't left the clinic meant he was confident in his work and in her.

She ate quickly in the exam room and rested briefly. By two o'clock, work resumed. Guan Xing didn't take lunch breaks, instead reviewing patients' records, familiarizing himself with Feiyang Company's medical needs.

Du Juan knew Dr. Guan disliked small talk and noise, so she only emerged from the restroom once she felt presentable.

"Xiao Juan, Xiao Juan! Lin's report came back—she really has a serious illness!" A young girl, no more than seventeen or eighteen, dashed in, cute and lively, with bangs framing her forehead, giving Guan Xing a sense of familiarity.

Lin, along with Manager Fang, had gone to the hospital. The tests confirmed her condition—she was now hospitalized. This young girl had been observing the gossip all along and hurried to tell Du Juan the news.

With hands behind her back, adopting a boss-like demeanor, she told Guan Xing seriously, "Dr. Guan, you really are skilled. Work hard, and I'll cover for you at Feiyang."

Guan Xing nearly laughed. The girl was serious and earnest.

Du Juan, worried about Guan Xing's manners, quickly added, "That's right. Having Assistant Xi say that gives Dr. Guan peace of mind."

Waving her hand nonchalantly, Xi Lianxin replied, "No need to thank me. Feiyang values talent—that's my responsibility. I'm heading to visit Lin now. I'll see you next time."

As the girl left, Guan Xing looked at Du Juan, feeling a rare, unrestrained smile. This was his first time in years feeling such amusement. Feiyang was indeed full of talent; this small, lively girl seemed hardly even fully grown.

"Assistant Xi Lianxin, 18 years old, reportedly admitted to Tsinghua without the entrance exam, currently interning at Feiyang. She's also the cherished granddaughter of the Chairman and cousin of our beautiful general manager."

Guan Xing remained silent as Du Juan provided all the details. Truly, the young girl was a princess of Feiyang—outspoken and straightforward.

News of her arrival brought even more patients to the clinic. Whether it was headaches, colds, or twisted ankles, everyone came, curious and entertained—but none faced the same fear as Lin's serious illness: early-stage gastric cancer.

Before long, his official appointment was formalized. On his very first day, the icy and elegant Hua Rubing had secured a special exception to ensure his position. Even Du Juan felt a twinge of envy, laughing, "Dr. Guan, looks like Manager Hua has a good impression of you. I had to wait five months for my permanent appointment!"

Guan Xing glanced at the young nurse. His mind drifted to Hua Rubing—her alluring beauty, snow-white underwear concealing hidden charm—stirring almost uncontrollable desires.

Was she helping him out of genuine admiration? Guan Xing doubted it. Du Juan had explained that Hua Rubing had not had a boyfriend in her four years at Feiyang. She had allowed him, the doctor, to witness her most private self—not out of generosity, but likely out of irritation or pride. A "good impression"? That was impossible.
