Chapter 77 - Chapter 73: The Method to Break a Seal

Part I — The Weight of Truth

The balcony of Reality Academy remained silent long after Leo spoke.

The night air moved again.

Stars returned to their natural shimmer.

No unseen force reacted.

No cosmic voice interrupted.

It was just the two of them.

Liora folded her arms.

"You're serious," she said quietly.

"Yes."

"The original you is sealed."

"Yes."

"And you're… occupying your own existence."

"For now."

She studied him carefully.

There were differences.

Subtle.

Less impulsive.

More calculating.

The Leo she once knew had sharp edges.

This one had depth.

That unsettled her more.

"How long?" she asked.

"Since the end of the battle with Veyras."

So recent.

And yet—

So much had already changed.

Part II — The Seal

"What kind of seal are we talking about?" Liora asked.

"Conceptual."

"Meaning?"

"It doesn't bind my body."

"It binds narrative authority."

She narrowed her eyes.

"Translate."

Leo turned toward her.

"My existence was restrained at the level of inevitability."

"I am allowed to function."

"But not to fully unfold."

Liora went quiet.

"That explains the fragments."

"Yes."

"I cannot stabilize fully while sealed."

"And if you don't?"

"The Devourer will eventually surpass even divided existence."

The wind grew heavier.

"So how do we break it?"

He paused.

For the first time—

There was hesitation.

"I can't do it alone."

She almost smiled faintly.

"That much was obvious."

He continued calmly.

"I need two external anchors."

"Compatible with my core origin."

Her eyes sharpened.

"…Who?"

"Liz."

And then—

"Marla."

Silence.

Long.

Very long.

Part III — A Name from the Beginning

"…Marla?" Liora repeated.

"Yes."

"The girl from the first incident," he clarified.

As if she needed clarification.

Marla.

The ordinary girl who had stood beside Leo when everything first began.

Before Sovereigns.

Before Supreme rulers.

Before fractured skies.

Liora's voice remained level.

"And Liz?"

"She stabilized me when I lost control after killing Veyras."

That memory still lingered in the air.

Liz standing against him.

Fighting him.

Refusing to let him disappear into his own power.

"You're saying they both resonate with your unsealed state."

"Yes."

Liz anchors my power.

Marla anchors my origin.

"And you?"

Liora asked.

He looked at her.

"You anchor my memory."

Silence.

That answer was too precise.

Too calm.

Too measured.

And that irritated her more than it should have.

Part IV — Jealousy, Slight but Real

"So," Liora said lightly.

"You need Liz."

"And Marla."

"Yes."

"To break a seal on your existence."

"Yes."

"And I'm just… memory."

Her tone was composed.

Almost teasing.

But not entirely.

Leo studied her.

"You are the one who keeps me aligned with who I was."

"That sounds like a consolation prize."

A faint pause.

Then—

"You're jealous."

The words were flat.

Observational.

Not mocking.

Her eyebrow twitched.

"I am not jealous."

"You are."

"I am not."

"You are."

She stepped closer.

"You think this is about emotion?"

"No."

"It's about strategic assessment."

"That tone says otherwise."

Her composure cracked slightly.

"Of course I have a tone."

"You just listed two girls whose presence you require to unseal yourself."

"And I'm standing here being told I represent nostalgia."

Leo blinked once.

"…That wasn't my intention."

"That's not the point."

Silence stretched.

Then she sighed.

Not angry.

Just human.

"…You always did this."

"Did what?"

"Unintentionally step on feelings while discussing world-ending threats."

That sounded accurate.

Part V — The Plan

She regained composure quickly.

"Fine."

"You need Liz and Marla."

"What exactly do they need to do?"

Leo's expression sharpened slightly.

"The seal restricts convergence."

"If Liz channels my sovereign resonance…"

"And Marla stabilizes my origin state…"

"I can force partial reintegration."

"Partial?"

"Yes."

"Enough to access the sealed layer."

"And after that?"

"I tear it open from the inside."

Liora stared at him.

"That sounds reckless."

"It is."

"And dangerous."

"Yes."

"And you didn't tell the Crimson Class."

"No."

"Why?"

"Because if it fails…"

She understood immediately.

The backlash would not be survivable.

Not for him.

Not for the academy.

Part VI — Beneath the Calm

The fracture in the distant sky pulsed faintly.

The Sovereign Devourer continued moving between realms.

Another sovereign would fall soon.

Time was narrowing.

Liora turned away briefly, looking over the academy grounds.

"You know," she said softly,

"If you had said you needed me for the ritual…"

He looked at her.

"…Would you have agreed?"

A faint smile curved her lips.

"I would have pretended to hesitate."

Then she faced him again.

"But I would have said yes."

Silence lingered between them.

Not heavy.

Just honest.

"You'll gather them?" he asked.

"Yes."

"But Leo."

Her gaze sharpened.

"If this seal breaks…"

"And the real you returns…"

"What happens to you?"

A pause.

The wind stilled again.

"I don't know."

That was the first uncertain answer he had given all night.

Liora studied him carefully.

For all his composure—

There was something fragile beneath it.

An existence occupying a throne that might not remain his.

"…Then we'll make sure you don't disappear," she said quietly.

He did not respond.

But something in his gaze softened.

Part VII — Elsewhere

In another realm—

The Sovereign Devourer swallowed another ruler.

Two crown fragments now burned brightly along its spine.

In the Land of the Dead—

Kira felt it.

Its growth.

Its acceleration.

He opened his eyes.

"I need to move faster."

The veiled woman nodded.

"Yes."

In the Phantom sanctum—

Sage sharpened her blade in silence.

The High Veil Council had made their move.

Now she would make hers.

And back at the academy—

Three names quietly aligned.

Liz.

Marla.

Leo.

A seal.

A fracture.

And jealousy so subtle it almost went unnoticed.

Almost.
