Lucian calmly mentioned Ebony's identity as a Visitor and Daniel's new race, now being a half Undead.
Both looked at each other in silence for a moment while they sat on the floor with their plates of food in front of them, but suddenly they stood up and grabbed the weapons resting against the wall.
Ebony took her heavy shield and Daniel took his short axes, one in each hand, both staring at each other as if they had no choice but to kill or be killed.
"Hey, what the hell is wrong with you two? You're going to spill the food, stop fooling around and come eat," Lucian said, annoyed, with seriousness in his eyes, but despite his authoritative tone his face looked tired and confused from the beer he had drunk with Russel.
"Like hell we will! You filthy traitors will die here and now!" Daniel said as he began releasing magic in the form of greenish-yellow vapor that covered his body.
"Like hell you will, you're the one who's going to die here!" Ebony shouted as bright green magic started pouring out of her entire body.
Both were preparing to kill each other, but at that moment Lucian saw them with such determination that he couldn't help but laugh.
"Ha ha ha, how ironic, two outcasts trying to kill each other? You're idiots. I don't know if you realize it, but right now we're in this together, so you'd better sit down before you sink the boat," Lucian said with a slight smile.
"Of course not, I knew you were a filthy elf… That I can let slide, it's not your fault you were born that way, but a Visitor is another matter! She's here to kill our beloved Demon King, we can't let her live!" Daniel said with a furious look, gripping his axes tightly.
"So you leave big ears alone but not me? Then you should know I didn't come here for your stupid Demon King, I don't even know who he is or what he does! And just so it's clear, I didn't ask to come to this world either!" the blonde replied as she prepared her shield to activate her spell.
"That's a lie! You Visitors are invaders from another world who only come seeking glory by killing the Demon King, without considering that peace exists thanks to his rule—" At that moment Daniel was interrupted by roots that began to grow from the floor, covering his body and sealing his mouth.
"Ha, you let your guard down, idiot! Maybe it doesn't look like it, but my companion and I are united in any act against our—" Just like with the boy, roots grew and covered Ebony's body and mouth, cutting off her words.
"Alright, enough, stop being idiots and calm down already or you'll end up destroying this place, and if you do, believe me, we'll end up very dead, so let's sit down and talk," Lucian said as he moved his hand and the roots tightened, forcing his companions to end up sitting on the floor without their weapons.
"Let's be clear about something, first and most important, Ebony is a Visitor, that's true, but she's not the typical Visitor who thinks they're a Hero and that the world would be better without the Demon King, she just wants money, a bit of fame, and to lose her virginity with a cute girl," Lucian said without filtering his words.
Hearing this, Daniel looked at Ebony in shock, raising an eyebrow, while she glared at Lucian, frowning in fury for revealing secrets that until then only he and the Cat God knew for sure.
"She's many things, but she's not a Heroine who wants to save the world, so calm down, Daniel, she won't do anything against the Demon King, and speaking of that… Second and more important, you, Daniel, are a hybrid!" the elf said, pointing at the boy bound hand and foot.
"My friend Russel can't be wrong, he clearly saw your system and it said your race is half Undead, so just like me and her, you're in danger in any country or region!" Lucian said, then crossing his arms and lowering his gaze sadly.
"Listen, Ebony, I know you have knowledge from past centuries for being a Visitor, but… I don't know how things were back then…" Lucian said as he started eating a chicken leg.
"But right now on this continent, miscegenation is forbidden and punished by law, depending on the country you can be executed or imprisoned for life if you're a mixed-blood or responsible for the existence of one… That's why two beings of different races can't marry in any known country…" the elf said while adding some ketchup to his fried chicken
Daniel looked at Ebony with a pitiful, almost mocking gaze, as if pointing out the irony of her supposed marriage to the elf, while the blonde, furious, tried to shout, denying any possibility of feelings toward the elf.
"It's sad, but right now no one wants us on this continent, none of us… But that's also why we can be together without killing each other…" Lucian said, wiping ketchup from his lips and looking seriously at Ebony and Daniel.
"We can't let anyone but us know our secret, especially inside a country, because if that happens, whoever discovers our identity will be forced by the magic of the Sacred Law to kill us or capture us, and if they don't, that person will suffer instantly until they die," Lucian said as he finished his piece of chicken.
"It would be unfair for us to have to kill someone just because they discover our secret, any of our secrets, that's why I'm telling you and I'll repeat it, we're in this together… But even so, we need rules if we want this to work," he said, moving his hand as the roots obeyed, freeing his companions' mouths.
"…Alright, I'll pretend I believe you and that I'm Undead, isn't there some cure or some shit like that? I don't want to live like you… And I mean that with full intent to offend," Daniel said as he looked angrily at the elf.
Lucian thought about the question for a moment, but there was no answer, or at least none he knew, while Ebony, offended by the boy's words, began moving erratically.
"Look, I have no idea how to cure you, if a cure even exists I have no idea where it is or how it's made… But I suppose something like that might exist, Ebony might know, she knows a lot of things," Lucian said, then turning his attention to the blonde.
Both looked at Ebony expectantly, and seeing the two idiots staring at her so intently, she rolled her eyes and then nodded.
At that moment Lucian moved his fingers and the roots released Ebony's mouth, she let out a sigh and looked seriously at both of them.
"Look… I'm good with information, but not that good, there are also many things I don't know… But I do know who knows all of that," Ebony said with a confident smile.
"Listen, you annoying idiots, if we're going to do this together, I'll tell you what I know… If we want to achieve our goals, whatever they may be, we have to do one and only one thing… Find the Eyes of God!"
