The waiter was shivering.

He was shivering violently, while his eyes looked around, looking for a shimmer of hope: a fellow waiter, the manager, some elite kid with a sympathetic gaze, anything.

Alas, he found none.

The fellow waiters? They were long gone.

The other heirs? They drank their drinks, enjoying the show.

The rules were well known. You do not mess with the Heirs. Why? Because the normal standards do not apply here. The heroes? They can be bought. The police worked for them. The laws? Only important if they are of any use to the "Golden Generation".

And Peng was one of them. If he wanted, with a flick of his finger, he could ruin the waiter's life. All he needed was a single call, and the waiter would be blacklisted.

And the waiter knew this. He dropped to his knees and slammed his head on the marble floor.

"Forgive me!" the waiter begged, as his voice cracked. "Forgive me, Young Master Peng! I did not see you there, and touched you by mistake! I am a bug! I will clean your boots immediately!"

He quickly pulled out a napkin from his pocket and desperately bent forward to wipe the tiny drop of soda from Peng's shoe.

Peng kicked the hand away, his face frowning with disgust.

"Don't you dare touch me, you filthy bug! I don't want to ruin my shoes! "

As this was happening, Akira, who was near the Time Crisis game machine, took his pipe out of his mouth. He sighed, looking at the drama.

The hell is wrong with these kids? Akira thought. Is this a brain disorder? Does all that money and privilege suck the empathy out? Is this what they learn in those fancy private schools?

As Akira was questioning this, another fact slapped him on the face.

And no way his name is Young Master Peng. That has to be a nickname. Or he's trolling. He sounds like a villain from a B-list manhwa.

Akira watched the waiter struggle.

His heart and brain were yelling at him to step in, grab Peng by his hair, and introduce him to the very known concept of gravity via the closest window.

But then he remembered the promise he made to his mother.

He remembered her exact words: "Please don't do anything stupid."

If he does what he was planning to do, he would ruin everything. He would embarrass his mother and might even start a corporate war.

Akira took a long puff from his pipe and turned back to the waiter.

I ain't doing shit. I promised Mom to be a good boy. That's the least I can do. The waiter will live. Yeah, he will lose his respect, but he will live.

He turned back towards the arcade station and grabbed his half-finished Coke.

The vibe was ruined. If he stayed here any longer, he knew damn well he would break a bone or two.

"Let's go," He muttered to Nia.

He ended the game, heading for the exit.

A few minutes later....

As Akira weaved through the racing simulators, he felt.... lighter?

Not mentally, but physically.

He paused, frowning.

Did I drop something?

He checked his pockets. Phone. Wallet. Pipe. Everything was there.

He checked his drink. Still cold.

He quickly checked his pockets.

Phone? Check.

Wallet? Check.

Pipe? In the mouth.

Coke? In hand.

Everything was there. Yet something was not there.

What am I missing?

He started to scratch his head, trying to remember dropping something.

And just then, he froze.

I should not be able to do this.....

He should not be able to scratch the top of his head.

"WHERE IS NIA?!" He roared.

Akira spun around, looking frantically for the small furball.

He started to check every simulator near him, he checked behind the curtains, and he checked everywhere.

"Nia!" he yelled again. "Nia! This isn't funny! Come out!"

Nothing.

SLAP!!!

The sound caused the surrounding heirs to look at Akira, who just slapped himself in his face.

What was I thinking? he berated himself. What was I thinking when I taught that cat how to move silently??

He looked around the room again. Trying to find her in some dark corner, hiding.

Meanwhile, back at the scene.

The waiter was still on his knees, crying his eyes out.

Watching that Peng and his friends were laughing out loud, making a joke out of the sorry sight of the poor waiter.

Just then, the waiter felt something on his arm.

Poke... Poke...

The waiter looked up through his tears.

Standing beside him were a pair of large yellow eyes, full of concern, which belonged to a small black kitty with a pink bowtie.

"Nay, nay, Mister," the cat said with her soft and childish voice. "Are you alright? Why are you crying? Did you get hurt? If yeah, my daddy can heal you for free!!!"

The waiter froze. His brain couldn't process what he was seeing right now. Why is a cat talking to me? Or have I already gone nuts?

Peng and his gang stopped laughing.

"What the..." Peng gasped. "A talking cat?"

His entourage stared.

"Is that a quirk?" the tall boy with white skin asked. "Or a chimera?"

Peng's eyes lit up with greed.

"It's wearing a bowtie," Peng noted. "It must be a pet. A rare one. Talking animals are worth millions on the black market."

He smiled, his mind made up.

"I want it," Peng decided. "Grab it for me. I'll give it to my sister as a souvenir."

The lackey nodded. "On it, Young Master."

The green-skinned boy stepped forward, trying to grab Nia.

Nia hissed.

She stepped in front of the kneeling waiter, shielding him with her tiny body.

"BACK OFF!" Nia yelled. "If not, I will kick your butt! I know karate!"

The boy paused and started laughing.

"Kick my butt?" he mocked. "You're the size of a rat. Come here, kitty."

"Oh yeah?" Nia growled. "Then do it! Try me!"

Her eyes began to glow. A purr echoed through her throat, but with every second, the purr got heavier.

GRRRRRRR!

Just as she was about to release a sonic scream and blast the white-haired kid back to his young master, she stopped.

The car ride replayed in her mind. Right before exiting the car a few hours ago, Akira had promised to be a good boy and not cause trouble.

"I promised Mom to be a good boy. No trouble."

If she attacked, she would cause a scene and get Akira in trouble.

Nia backed down. The wave died in her throat.

She looked at the bully, then at the crying waiter.

"Can you just be nice?" she asked politely. "He didn't do anything wrong. He just spilled a drink. It will dry soon."

The group started laughing.

"A moral lecture from a cat? What happened to all that kicking butt, huh? Lost your nerve?"

"Grab her," Peng ordered. "She's annoying me now."

She huffed, frustration welling up in her chest.

I'm causing trouble, she thought, her ears drooping. I wandered off. Daddy is going to be mad at me.

Seeing the cat distracted, the lackey smirked.

His white hair began to move. The strands elongated, twisting together to form a lasso.

The hair-rope wrapped around Nia's neck.

It tightened.

"Gotcha."

Nia froze.

She felt the pressure on her throat. And memories came back rushing.

The lounge disappeared. The waiter disappeared.

Suddenly, she wasn't in a hotel. She was back in the lab. Strapped to a cold metal table. Surrounded by humans with white coats. The wire collar was digging into her skin, choking her every time she tried to speak.

"No..." Nia whimpered as she struggled to breathe. "No... on... I am sorry... please..."

She clawed at the hair-rope, but it was of no use.

Tears welled in her yellow eyes.

"Please..." she cried. "Don't... don't leash me... I'll be good..."

The lackey laughed, pulling the rope, dragging her across the carpet.

"Look at it squeal!" he jeered. "It's crying!"

Peng clapped his hands. "Excellent! Maybe we can dye its fur pink to match my sister's car."

The lackey pulled her in. Nia squeezed her eyes shut, waiting for the cage.

Thud.

A boot slammed into the floor between Nia and the lackey.

SNIP.

The hair-rope was cut off instantly.

"What do you think you are doing!" She yelled.

The lackey flinched.

Standing there was a girl.

She wore a red sleeveless, high-neck top. It was tucked into high-waisted black bottoms.

Her hair was black and styled in a high ponytail.

In her hand, she had a large pair of scissors that seemed to have appeared out of nowhere.

She glared at the trio and pointed scissors at them.

"Back off!" The girl yelled again.

She dropped to her knees and scooped Nia up, holding the trembling cat against her chest. She pulled the remaining rope off Nia's neck and threw it.

"Are you okay?" she asked, her voice softening instantly as she looked at the cat. "Shhh. It's okay. You're safe."

Nia was trembling so hard her teeth chattered. She tried to speak, but the words were stuck in her mouth.

She turned up and looked at the person who had saved her. She was a kind-looking girl who gave her a sweet smile.

But then, she looked over the girl's shoulder.

And her eyes widened.

"Daddy..." Nia whispered, her voice terrified. "Daddy... no!"

The girl turned around, following Nia's gaze.

Peng and his lackeys did the same.

"Daddy?" Peng sneered. "Is the owner here? Good. I'll buy the cat from him."

"What are y-- "

Peng didn't finish his sentence.

Because Akira was already there.

One second, he was in the crowd. Next, he was in front of Peng.

Akira grabbed Peng by his hair and slammed his face into the floor.

CRUNCH.

"GAAAAH!"

Akira wasn't done yet though. He held peng's face against the floor, crouching over him. His red eyes swirling with red fire.

"Don't worry, I'll heal you once I'm done with you and you goons," Akira whispered into Peng's ear.

He twisted his hair, forcing Peng to look at him.

"Make sure you don't faint."

Akira said tightening his grip on Peng's hair. Sorry mother, but this fucker just crossed the line.

She is here!! The one and only Momo. I know people will be mad about her, as she is too commanly used, but trust me. There is reason I picked her. She is the only one who shares a business point of view, along with she is much more rational, balacing out Akira's anger.
