Chapter 4 - Four

My father's will was going to be read in the next couple of days and that meant that i would need to return to Port North and I was not looking forward to the trip.

A week. It had been an entire week since I had overheard that conversation in the club, I had finally learnt exactly how they felt about me.

It felt like another death, another tragedy I had to face all by myself. I had cried my eyes out and as much as I did not want to feel horrible, I could not help the ache that engulfed me in my every waking moment.

It all made perfect sense, their behavior towards me in recent times. I had noticed it but I made excuses, refused to believe what had been staring me in the face. Rhy, Alaric and Castiel had stopped loving me.

And according to their words they were in love with someone else, I was just the obstruction stopping them from enjoying their lives.

I felt broken. The one thing I had counted on was their love for me and even that was null, I had nothing.

The only person who knew where I had hidden was the family lawyer.

My thoughts were interrupted by a knock on the door and I sighed in annoyance. It was probably the housekeeper, I had sent her away but she had probably come back for whatever reason.

I dragged myself off the window seat and walked down the stairs and opened the door and immediately tried to shut the door but Alaric put his foot in, effectively blocking me.

Knowing that i could not win against him I turned away and when I heard the door shut I turned around to see him looking at me with those unreadable eyes I had once thought were adorable but now I wanted to scratch out of his face.

When he continued staring at me without saying a word I snapped.

"Well, did you come all this way just to stare at me?"

I didn't even bother asking him how he knew where I was, Alaric's family owned Voss Holdings, a company that dealt with private intelligence, crisis containment and security services.

They had a lot of sources, if there was anyone I had been worried could find me it was Alaric. But I had assumed since none of them wanted me they would not bother searching in the first place.

"You have a lot of people worried, come back home and stop being a brat." Alaric said plainly, making my eyes narrow.

I was being a brat??? How dare he!

"Worried?" I echoed his word. "Who is worried Alaric, definitely not you or Rhys or Castiel. I assumed that all three of you would be happy to see me go."

"It doesn't have to be like this, come back with me." Alaric said and reached a hand out to touch me.

I jumped back and glanced at his hand in disgust.

"Don't touch me!"

My voice came out in a hoarse whisper that betrayed me. I wanted to sound like I didn't care, like they had been unable to hurt me but my chest felt tight with emotions and tears threatened to fall.

"You can't continue like this, mother and father are worried." Alaric continued.

I nodded in understanding.

That is the only reason he is here, his parents must have scolded him.

The part of me that had hoped that he had come because he was actually sorry about what he had said in the club shriveled.

"As you can see, I'm doing fine Alaric." I straightened myself and glared at him. "I don't need you coming around me."

I watched as Alaric hesitated for a moment then sank to one knee and held out a jewelry box that had a diamond ring embedded in it.

I stared in disbelief as he continued. "Ivy, please marry me."

I almost started laughing. It was ironic that the thing I had wanted for so long now disgusted me.

"Get out Alaric, please." I said softly, all the fight in me gone. I just wanted to find a warm dark place to crawl into.

"I'm sorry but I can't, I have come to take you back with…"

*BANG!!*

The door slammed open with a loud noise that made both Alaric and I flinch. Hulking at the door was Castiel's massive frame blocking all the light from coming in through the door.

"Ivy, please marry me." Castiel said and dropped to his knees heavily before crawling on both knees to me while I backed away.

"Castiel!!" Alaric roared in anger. "Can't you see that you are interrupting me?"

Castiel ignored Alaric's explosion and focused on Ivy, pulling a jewelry box and opening it with a snap.

"I got you a pink diamond, I know pink is your favorite color." He said solemnly.

As he spoke, all i could hear were the words he had said in the club.

"As a matter of fact, I have someone that I actually want to marry and she is not Ivy."

"Getting married to Ivy is torture that even the worst criminal should not have to endure."

He had been so clear about how he thought about me and I was supposed to believe that he had such a swift change of heart.

Alaric on the other hand stared in disbelief at the massive pink stone Castiel held.

This sneaky bastard, how did he get a ring this size so quickly? How did he even find out where Ivy was?

"Castiel, you are going to have to wait outside. I came here first." Alaric got to his feet and blocked Castiel's view of Ivy. "This is over, you can get going. Ivy is going to be my wife. I want you gone."

Castiel got to his feet also. "I'd like to see you try." Came his soft but not any less menacing answer.

I looked between the two of them and realized that they could start fighting and I was not in the mood for any man child hysterics.

So while they stared down each other I walked out of the opened door unnoticed.

I had just gotten to the gate of the little cottage when a hand suddenly grabbed me, causing me to scream in fear.

"What are you doing Rhys?" I yelled angrily and pulled my arm out of his hold.

"I don't want to ever see you, i don't want to see none of you!"

Saying that, I ran away and thankfully i didn't hear footsteps coming after me.
