Chapter 4 - 3.The Bonuses of Coming From Another World

While the hellhounds rushed towards me because of the shot that was heard I quickly took another deep breath before firing my sniper rifle at the closest of the hillhounds.

It fell to the ground with relative ease after I shot it in the center of it's forehead.

The hellhounds continued to advance.

I pulled back the lever on my rifle which loaded the next bullet into the barrel.

As soon as the gun was prepared I took a deep breath and shot at the closet hellhound, but my shot was off by just a centimeter or two. Because of that the bullet only grazed the hellhound's ear.

That meant that I only had four more shots in the clip left, and I knew that if I made another mistake I most likely would not be able to kill another of the hellhounds before they got too close for me to use my sniper rifle effectively.

Before I fired my next shot , I slowed my breathing and heart rate so that I could focus without any form of distraction.

This shot spyro out of the barrel and hit the hilhound , that I missed my last shot with directly in the center of his forehead.

As soon as I had visual confirmation of the targeted hillhound hitting the ground i made my myself ready for close ranged combat by sanding up and on and sheathing my combat knife.

I then got into a crouch ready position waiting for the first of the hellhounds to climb up to the area where I was set up.

Every second felt like an eternity as their growls became louder and louder.

My heart began to speed up the closer they got to me.

As soon as the first hellhound made it to the area where I was now standing it lunged at me without even waiting a second.

I dodged the attack by stepping to my left.

Then it attacked me again, and I dodged it with ease and grace.

By the time that the first of the hellhounds made its second strike at me. The other hellhounds had made it to the top. This meant that I was going to be fighting three against one.

All three of the remaining hellhounds lunged at me in quick succession.

As I evaded the first lunch successfully by side stepping again, the second attack bit me on the shoulder, and I started to see blood rush out of me.

Was I going to make it out of this alive, or would I possibly die in my first portal jump as a result of my urge to work alone.

I then chose to ignore the pain and continue my lunching motion towards the spine of the hellhound that I had successfully dodged.

That makes three down and two go.

This time , I noticed that the last two hellhounds were being a little more cautious since there were now only two of them.

As they both ran at me at the same time i jumped over them at the last second to dodge the attack.

Then while I was in the air , and they're backs were to me , I threw my combat knife at the spine of the one that was on the left.

I saw that it fell to the ground lifeless as I landed on my feet.

Now I was weaponless which worried me, but the final hellhound chose to run back down the hill and off into the distance since it was now alone.

I quickly made my way to where I had set up my sniper rifle since I did not have much time left to shoot tge last hellhound before he would be out of range.

I saw the hellhound through my scope and took a deep breath before shooting it in the back of the neck which killed it.

Now that I was alone I needed to check the bodies of the hounds I had killed for any possible Darvikian Crystals left inside of their bodies.

Darvikian Crystals were good for two things. You could use them to make better gear that would either enhance the damage that you do to the devils on the other side, or it could give you protection against most of them.

Darvian Crystals were very difficult to obtain because they were always located in the most vital area of the demonic creature's body. This was also what caused the creatures to evolve after the portal was active for ten days and turned white.

I was able to get two Darvian Crystals one from each of the hellhounds that were on the mountain with me since I did not hit them in the stomach.

I put both of the Darvian Crystals in my belt which meant that I only had four pouches left to store small items. Because the limited space that I had left for storage I chose to ignore the other three that were on the ground beneath the mountain.

Then I removed my knife from the back of the hellhound that I threw it at.

Next , I opened the small bag that Susan gave me an used a medical injector that stopped the bleeding from when the hellhound bit me. This stop the bleeding, but I still clearly took some damage. So I decided to check my status.

"Status Check". I said and a digital green screen show up in front of my face.

This was the main perk of being from the other side of the portals. Since I was , technically from another world , I was able to level up like in a video game. Dismant , then , after every fight , I would only get stronger.

This was not any unique trait that only I possessed. This was available to anyone who crossed over. That was part of the reason why this was such a sought after type of job.

My Status read:

Level: 2 Exp 0 of 500

Strength: 1, Agility: 1, Fortitude: 1, Intelligence: 1, Willpower: 1

68 of 100 health, 0 of 0 power.

Three Atribute points avaliable.

No passive or active skills.

How did I want to spend my three attribute points that I had available to me.

After thinking about it for a bit , I chose to put my three avaliable points into my agility stat.

Now that I was done with that , I closed my status menu and started to climb my way down the mountain after I grabbed my sniper rifle and put it on my back.

I made my way down the mountain, but I slipped when I was at the end of the trail and fell on my ass.

Can I quickly cut back on my feet and ran to a nearby cave, but the closer to the cave I got I was able to pick up some noise of someone marching around in metal armor. The second noise that I heard was a bunch of low grounds; which made me think that there were a few more hellhounds around.

I made my way into the cave and started to go deeper into it. As I did, the area became more lit up by metal torches that were about twenty feet apart along the walls of the cave.

In the bank of the cave i saw a massive circular room that had a tall undead , that was wearing black robes twoth chainmail peices underneath it. He had a mace in his left hand and an open grimair in his right hand. This meant that I was going to have to fight a Hell Preist as the boss of this portal as well as the few hellhounds that were guarding him.

Would I be able to make it out with the few clips of ammo that I had left for my sniper and this cheap excuse for a knife, or would I die on my first attempt at taking down a boss in a portal?
