"Ka..."
The voice felt distant. Muffled. Like it was reaching him from deep underwater.
"Kai, wake up!"
Nyra? Kai's thoughts were sluggish. Heavy.
Wait—
His eyes snapped open. "Nyra! Where is she?!"
A small body slammed into his chest before he could even sit up. Arms wrapped tightly around his neck, squeezing with a desperate, trembling strength.
Kai stiffened.
Then, slowly... a faint, relieved smile touched his bruised lips.
"Welcome back, Nyra," he whispered.
"You idiot!" she choked into his shoulder, her voice muffled by his coat. "You left me in that tomb!"
Kai awkwardly lifted a trembling hand and patted her back.
Once. Twice.
"I'm here now."
A low, amused chuckle echoed through the heavy air of the chamber.
Kai blinked, his vision finally clearing to take in his surroundings. Cold stone walls. A cracked obsidian floor.
And standing just a few feet away—Master K, the Masked Man, and a black cat sitting elegantly between them with its tail swaying.
Master K smiled politely, gesturing with an open hand. "Please. Continue. Don't mind us."
Kai's face ignited. Panic overriding his physical pain, he shoved Nyra away on pure instinct.
Nyra stumbled backward, her teary eyes flashing with sudden fury. "Why are you pushing me?! That hurts!"
Kai frantically jerked his chin toward the audience behind her. Nyra turned and froze mid-sentence.
"Hello, little girl," Master K greeted with a friendly wave.
"Hello, Nyra," the Masked Man added calmly.
Nyra's face turned the color of a tomato. She frantically straightened her clothes and bowed stiffly.
"H-Hello."
Silence stretched for three excruciating seconds.
Then—Kai trembled.
The color drained from his face in an instant. His breathing violently hitched.
A sudden, massive shudder tore through his body, and he collapsed sideways, a ragged scream of pure agony ripping from his throat.
Frost exploded across his right arm.

The veins along his neck crystallized visibly beneath his skin.
It felt like a warhammer was repeatedly smashing into his chest from the inside.
His lungs burned. Each frantic breath he took formed sharp, white vapor in the air. The frost didn't stop at his shoulder—it crawled, spreading rapidly toward his heart.
Master K moved instantly. The polite expression vanished from his face.
He dropped to his knees beside Kai and tore open the boy's heavy coat, exposing the terrifying, fractal patterns of ice forming directly over his heart.
"His circulation is collapsing," Master K muttered, his hands moving fast to assess the damage.
Nyra's panic surged, but she forced herself to act.
She ripped off Kai's freezing boots, grabbed his feet, and rubbed them aggressively, desperately trying to force the blood to keep flowing.
"Don't you dare die!" she shouted, fresh tears welling in her eyes.
Kai's skin was turning pale blue.
The Masked Man didn't move to help. He simply watched.
From the shadows, Nexus giggled softly.
"Will you not help your hero?"
The Masked Man ignored the taunt. Instead, his gloved hand slipped deep inside his coat.
When it emerged, he was holding an ancient glass bottle. It was intricately carved and covered in faded runic lines.
Inside, a swirling golden liquid shimmered like captured sunlight.
The air in the room changed. The temperature didn't rise, but the atmospheric pressure shifted violently.
Master K's eyes widened. "The Key... it is the final reward …" he whispered, his voice trembling.
"How did you obtain—"
The Masked Man lifted his gaze. And looked at him. Just once.
Master K's words died instantly in his throat. His pupils dilated.
His body stiffened as if struck by lightning. A blinding flash of sovereign gold violently invaded his mind—a figure draped in impossible radiance. Authority incarnate.
The sheer mental pressure forced the air from Master K's lungs.
He staggered backward without realizing it, and, acting entirely on primal instinct, he lowered his gaze in absolute submission.
[ CRITICAL ALERT: HEARTBEAT.

[ ORGAN FAILURE IMMINENT. ]
Kai's scream weakened into a wet, pathetic gasp. His body arched violently as frost spiderwebbed across his collarbone.
Nyra's hands shook harder. "Do something!"
The Masked Man knelt calmly beside the thrashing boy. He pried Kai's frozen jaw open, uncorked the bottle, and poured the golden liquid into his mouth.
A single drop.
For half a second, nothing happened.
Then—the frost halted.
The ice violently receded. Color rushed back into Kai's skin.
His trembling stopped, and his erratic breathing stabilized into a deep, steady rhythm.
The crystalline patterns across his chest melted into faint, harmless vapor. His agonizing scream dissolved into absolute silence.
[UNKNOWN SUBSTANCE DETECTED.]
[ANALYSIS FAILED.]
Kai's body went completely limp. Not dead. Sleeping. It was a deep, exhausted slumber.
Suddenly, the air in the chamber distorted.
A massive, blue System interface flickered into existence directly in front of the Masked Man. The text struggled to format properly. It glitched. Fragmented.
[ W H O A R E Y O U ? ]
[ W H A T I S Y O U R D I M E N S I O N ? ]
The digital letters warped. Recompiled. The System was demanding an answer.
The Masked Man did not react. But from behind him, a heavier, darker presence expanded.
Nexus stepped forward from the shadows. The cat's voice was no longer playful. It was absolute.
"Silent."
The command did not echo. It pressed down on reality itself.
The blue screen flickered violently. Pixels distorted. Error codes flooded the surface of the interface as it attempted to stabilize—and failed.
It shattered into a rain of digital fragments, completely deleted from the air.
Silence returned to the ruined chamber.
The Masked Man stood up, calmly dusting his coat.
"He will wake in two days," he said.
Master K nodded without meeting his eyes, still deeply shaken by the vision of authority he had just witnessed.
Nyra let out a long, trembling breath. She reached out and gently brushed the messy strands of hair from Kai's forehead.
"Idiot…" she whispered softly.
As she blinked, her eyes flashed with the terrifying, brilliant light of a crimson moon.
"Have better dreams this time, boy."
CRACK.
A deafening noise split the chamber. The sound wasn't just stone breaking. It was something much deeper.
The glowing fissure along the far wall widened violently. Brilliant, unstable light bled from the crack.
The floor lurched.
Stone fractured beneath their feet, sending chunks of obsidian collapsing into a growing, bottomless void below.
The chamber tilted sharply. Dust and fragments rained from the ceiling as more cracks spread in jagged lines.
Reality itself seemed to desync. Sections of the wall flickered—solid stone one second, fragmented green code the next.
Nexus glanced upward, her glowing eyes narrowing. "Structural integrity failing."
Another massive explosion of stone rocked the room. The chamber split straight down the center.
A horrifying roar echoed upward from the depths of the Inverse Pyramid. It sounded ancient.
Dying.
The entire dungeon trembled.
Master K moved in a blur. He hoisted Kai's limp, sleeping body over his broad shoulder and grabbed Nyra's arm with his free hand.
His voice was urgent. "We're leaving. Now."
The Masked Man cast one final, unreadable glance at the collapsing architecture. Then, he turned away.
The floor dropped another meter. The fissure widened into a yawning abyss, brilliant light pouring upward from below like the core of a dying star.
The Inverse Pyramid was collapsing.
