Chapter 31 - Under The Bus

...

 Next Morning.

Goddess Astraea pricked her finger and put a drop of her divine blood on the Falna on his bare back.

Goddess Hestia followed by dropping her own divine blood across his back after Goddess Astraea.

His Falna glowed with a royal blue colour in response. Godly script shifting like a glitching phone screen.

Both Goddesses looked at his now updated Falna with eagerness. Their eagerness turned to slack jaws after taking a look.

Goddess Hestia rubbed her eyes to double check. Goddess Astraea's hand shook as she touched his Falna in disbelief.

"I-Is this really true, Astraea?" Hestia spoke with an awed tremble.

"For the first time in the lower world... Even though we thought it was possible. But..." Goddess Astraea spoke. Her voice filled with astonishing surprise.

"Goddesses... Did we succeed?" Bell asked with uncertainty. His voice unsure.

"Here... have a look yourself. This might be the first and only time something like this has happened in the lower world." Goddess Astraea spoke. Her hand moved to copy and translate his Falna on a page. Then, she handed the page to Bell with a trembling hand.

"Holy..." Bell nearly cursed out loud after taking a look.

'New attribute section, and the new magic I created on my own.' Bell concluded after going through the sheet.

He couldn't wait to continue the grind and have 1998 stats across all attributes. By then he'd probably have enough strength to at least protect himself against first class adventurer Familia's.

But before that. He still had something to do.

...

Adventurers Guild.

There were more people roaming inside the guild than normal today. Some had uncertain faces. Some were discussing something grave. Some were so unsettled that they were fidgeting in their seats.

Bell walked up to his trusty guild advisor Ronald and asked him.

"Hey, Ronald. What's all this fuss about early in the morning?" He asked with curiosity. His gaze resting on the elf.

Ronald seemed to be working on willpower alone. With dark circles under his eyes and a haggard face.

"Don't get me started Bell... The northern area of Orario was illuminated for a brief moment last night. We were woken up and called to the guild late night to have adventurers and staff run an onsite investigation." Ronald seemed done with life. Sprawled across a wooden chair behind the counter.

"So... Did the Guild find anything?" Bell asked curiously. Barely imperceptible caution in his tone.

"I wish... We just found a whole street vapourised like someone had bombed that street off the map. Just like the last time with the Viola incident." Ronald spoke with barely concealed irritation and distaste.

"Actually... My home is close to that street you're talking about. I might know a thing or two about what might have happened there." Bell leaned over the counter. His whisper only reaching Ronald.

"..!!" Ronald nearly jumped up from his seat at his words. All sleepiness vanishing from his eyes.

"Let's talk somewhere private. It's not good to talk here." Ronald spoke and invited him over to private room on the second floor.

The elf slacked against the sofa after getting inside and dipped a quill in brand new ink and asked what he knew while jotting something down.

"So... I saw some people yesterday night. They were wearing cloaks while walking around the streets near my house." Bell started.

"After eavesdropping on them. I heard they called themselves a part of something called 'Evilus'. They apparently were planting Inferno stones all across the area, probably to bomb that area of Orario to spread mass panic and fulfil some other agenda." He continued.

"Continue." Ronald scribbled down whatever he told and spoke with rapt attention.

"But just as they were chatting casually with each other... A women wearing a green cape suddenly dropped in between their group. She seemed to really hate these people from 'Evilus' and said that she won't rest until every single one of them were killed." Bell spoke with a hint of mock fear on his face.

"Gale Wind!!...Continue." Ronald's pen stopped for a moment, then started to scribble even more furiously.

"Apparently that women used her magic to blow up the crates of Inferno stones and ran away like the wind. And by the time I and the Evilus people could compose ourselves. The Inferno stones combusted on the spot. If I was not a little farther away...Then I would've been vapourised like those people in the explosion."

Bell bullshitted with a straight face. Throwing Evilus under the bus once again. Painting them as lunatics wanting to destroy a part of Orario to further their plans and have fun in the suffering of Orario.

He silently mourned for Evilus inwardly.

Now... Along with the Freya and Loki Familia's... Even the Guild and Ouranos were seriously on Evilus' ass.

'Let me see where these roaches can hide when I wake the whole Orario up and set up a grand witch hunt against them.'

Today they dared to attack his home. Tomorrow they would dare to attack his Goddesses.

They had long crossed a red line in his books.

He even kept a small notebook in which names of every Evilus executive he knew were written. The day a person from the list was killed by him would be the day he'd cross their name off his hit list.

Bell could be kind. Loyal and even could make himself go through pain to protect someone else. But all that had one perquisite. And that was to never cross his red line and target those close to him.

If you did... This same kind Argonaut could become a mad dog who won't rest until every single one of them were given express tickets to another life. Stamped personally by the Wheel.

He walked out of the guild. His thoughts heavy and body rigid.

It was time to continue his dungeon adventure... Only by crushing Evilus with his own strength could he root all of them out.

People come and go. Enemies increase and decrease. Time continues it's walk.

In the end... Only the grind remains.
