Miles away from where Lilithia and Villiam were plummeting into the unknown,
the Drakhaens squad was making their way through the same forest.
Their forms resembled humans, yet glowing veins pulsed beneath their skin, shifting in color according to each warrior's aura—blue, red, silver, and violet—
as if their bodies could reveal their strength before they even spoke a word.
At their forefront, one of the warriors—Kai—leapt into the air,
his strike crashing down as though it had split the wind in two,
cleaving a lower-ranked demon cleanly in half.
Skyler spoke to him while flicking the demon's blood off his sword, his tone edged with mockery:
"Don't get cocky, Kai… it's still just a puppet."
Kai smiled with confidence, the red aura around him trembling like heat.
"I haven't even used my Stone Art yet."
But the air suddenly shifted—growing heavier, deeper—
as if an invisible weight pressed against their chests.
Before they could grasp what was happening, a dark wave slammed into the soldiers, knocking them to the ground,
their blood scattering through the air as if a shadow had torn the souls from their bodies.
Kai shouted as he sprinted toward the front line:
"Fall back! This is no ordinary demon…
It could be a sorcerer, or one of the high-ranking fiends!"
He reached into his pocket and pulled out a stone as red as boiling blood,
its surface crisscrossed with white lines that glowed like moonlight.
As he raised it, a demon with distorted features emerged from the trees,
its face appearing as though fire had melted its shape, leaving behind a living mass of pure malice.
Kai pressed the stone to his right palm, muttering in a low, oath-like whisper:
"Stone Art… the Moon Wolf Stone."
The stone flared with light, and the howl of a wolf echoed through the forest.
Energy surged through his body, sharpening his senses and shaping his fingers into silver claws.
The demon lunged toward one of the soldiers—
but Kai appeared before it in a blink, severing its hands with a single strike as he murmured:
"Level One: Moon Sense."
His body vanished for a heartbeat and reappeared behind the enemy,
his claws slicing through the air like streaks of light:
"Level Two: Moon Claws."
The demon collapsed, its body cut into fine segments, fragments of Stone Energy shimmering before fading into nothing.
The stone's glow dimmed back into slumber, and the howling ceased.
Kai drew a deep breath, then spoke coldly as his gaze swept over the injured soldiers:
"Where is the Healing Squad? Why haven't they arrived yet?"
Before anyone could answer, the monitoring device on his wrist emitted a sharp metallic chime:
"Four hundred White Points have been recorded for Warrior Kai:
• 300 white points for killing a mid-rank demon.
• 100 white points for killing a lower-rank demon."
Skyler checked his own device… but this time, the notification was different—
its voice louder and rougher than anything they had heard before:
"The Black Stone's heir has been chosen."
A stunned silence fell—soldiers exchanging disbelieving looks.
Skyler's glowing veins trembled as he opened the notification again:
"Who chose them? Could it be…?"
The device answered without hesitation:
"Chosen heir: Lilithia.
Race: Demoness."
Several soldiers gasped—
and Kai shouted:
"This is impossible! The Black Stone doesn't choose demons!"
The device issued another alert:
"Heir status: In danger.
Location: Eastern bank of the forest.
Sending coordinates…"
Then it fell silent.
Skyler turned to Kai, his voice firm and unwavering:
"Stay with the soldiers. The Healing Squad won't make it through unless I secure the path…
and as for her—"
He drew his sword, his veins blazing with bright blue light.
"Then I'll go save her myself."
And he dashed forward—
his voice fading among the trees at a speed like lightning.
