Chapter 4 - Volume 1, chapter 4: Is goodness absolute?

In the afternoon, approaching night, the city dwellers were entering their homes. Some were seen buying things at the supermarket, while others were returning home. Kagena walked around the housing complex. His face looked tired, but he tried not to be tired. A few moments later, he arrived at his house on the right. To the left of his house was another house, and to the right of his house was a supermarket. In front of his house was a bridge on the right. Kagena's front porch had several plants in a garden that wasn't very large. Kagena went inside. He opened the door and entered.

Kagena put his shoes on the rack near the door. Then, he walked through the living room. The living room was in the middle, right after the exit, with the bathroom at the top left. There was a back door leading to the back garden, and two bedrooms were to the right of the living room. Kagena walked towards the living room, put his bag down and sat on the sofa.

"It was a really.. tiring day." Kagena rubbed his face while leaning back.

"How was your day, kagena?" an old voice came from the bathroom. Then, an old man, 64 years old, wearing a green shirt with a red flower logo and gray shorts, emerged from the bathroom with grayish-black hair.

"Grandpa!" Kagena smiled as he walked towards his grandfather and hugged him. Then Kagena stepped back with a happy expression.

"I'm fine, my day... was quite exciting." Kagena smiled and continued walking towards the sofa. "Come here, grandpa, sit down and I'll make you some tea."

"No need, I'm fine." Kagena's grandfather immediately sat on the sofa, next to Kagena.

Kagena immediately stood up and began taking off his uniform. "No, no, grandpa, I'll just make some tea." Kagena immediately went to get a towel from the bathroom and went in.

"Huh... Even though I said no, what else can I do?" Kagena's grandfather sighed while leaning back.

[This is my Grandpa, Sora Yuha. I've lived with my grandfather since I was little. I don't know why I don't have parents, but my grandfather said that he was found in the middle of the forest when he was on a mission to find someone. So he took care of me in this house and taught me some important things about life.]

A few minutes later, after taking a shower, Kagena put on a black shirt and blue pants and made tea in the kitchen. He brought two cups to his grandfather. Kagena placed the teacups on the left for his grandfather and on the right for himself and sat down.

Grandpa Yuha drank his tea

"Hmm... the tea is delicious."

"No no, I just use regular tea," Kagena said with a smile and drank his tea. He then put the tea on the table.

"So grandpa, I'll be around October there will be a festival or school event but this event will be really big." said Kagena while raising his index finger, with a relaxed expression.

Grandpa Yuha raised his eyebrows, his expression growing more curious.

"What event is that? You seem very excited about this event," said Grandpa Yuha while sipping his tea.

"It's called the sky festival!

The biggest event in school and maybe..." Kagena scratched his head in confusion.

"-Maybe the newest? But what is certain is that this is an event involving 2 big schools. Are you interested in seeing it later?" Kagena's face was filled with hope, hope that his grandfather would see him at the festival.

Grandpa Yuha smiled, he stroked Kagena's head. "Of course, I'll come."

"Okay! I'll wait for you there!" said Kagena with a happy face.

"Okay, make sure you work hard," Yuha's grandfather smiled. A few seconds later, Grandpa Yuha asked something.

"Kagena, grandpa wants to ask you something."

"Hmm? What is it?" Kagena took his tea and took a sip.

"During these 3 years, was your life at school fun? Did you have many friends? Did your teachers treat you well?" Yuha's grandfather asked in a gentle tone while sipping his tea.

Kagena smiled softly as he closed his eyes. "Sure, these 3 years of school have been really... fun. I have a lot of friends, although some of them annoy me, but that's life." Kagena opened his eyes as he put his tea on the table.

"but..." Kagena's face was annoyed, while clenching and raising his right hand parallel to his head. "The teacher I hate the most is... Mr. Zax"

Grandpa Yuha's expression became shocked and curious, "Why Mr. Zax? As far as I know, he is a good person who educated you."

Kagena grinned, his face filled with annoyance.

"BECAUSE HE IS AN ASSHO-"

"Respect your teacher!"

Grandpa yuha hit Kagena on the head hard and Kagena was immediately in pain while holding his head.

"O- ouch~"

Grandpa Yuha put his tea on the table, he crossed his arms. "Listen, Kagena, even if he has bad traits or is unpleasant for us, we must still respect teachers. Because, many teachers also dedicate their lives for the lives of others."

Kagena saw his grandfather, his head no longer hurt, but he immediately leaned back on the sofa. "Okay, Grandpa, I'd be happy to hear that."

Then, Kagena looked at his grandfather. His face was full of curiosity, his eyes filled with desire for what he had experienced today. Then he looked at the table, with his sitting position changed to leaning forward with both hands on his thighs. "Grandpa... I want to ask."

Grandpa Yuha looked at Kagena with a gentle expression and smiled. "What's wrong?"

"It's nothing, but I wanted to tell you something after school." Kagena's face became serious, the atmosphere became a little colder.

"So, I saw someone discriminating against another person. I saw someone of high status beating up people who had no money, even though they were just asking for help because their family had died in the war."

Kagena then told his story. Time went back to around 5 p.m, and while on the street, Kagena saw someone in rich clothes kicking a poor person on the street next to a supermarket.

"YOU PIECE OF SHIT! STOP BEGGING IN FRONT OF THE STREET, GET OUT OF MY SIGHT!" a rich woman, wearing an elegant red dress and a pair of black gloves and diamond shoes, was shouting at a little girl who was wearing torn clothes and only a used blanket.

"Please.. I just want a few coins.. Please ma'am, I just want you to give me some of your kindness. I saw you bought a lot of things earlier, so, can you give me just a few coins? Even one is fine... my family died in a war..." The little girl pleaded, her eyes filled with hope. She immediately tried to lift the hat she used to hold the money. But..

"NONSENSE! I DON'T CARE ABOUT YOU OR YOUR FAMILY! The rich woman kicked her hat in anger. "This is why I hate someone like you. You all deserve to be slaves."

The little girl smiled, then she stood up and immediately hugged the rich woman. "Please... please ma'am.. I- I- I just want a few coins..." the little girl looked up at the rich woman's face with tears, her face full of sadness. begging the woman to give her a few coins, even if it was only 1. but her efforts were in vain.

"How dare... HOW DARE YOU HOLD ME! YOU TRASH!"

The rich woman shouted angrily, and then she immediately slapped the little girl so hard that she fell to the ground. She immediately kicked the little girl in the stomach several times.

"Absolute trash, guard, beat this girl to death. I don't want to see trash running around anymore" With that order, the bodyguard immediately advanced and when he was close to the little girl, he aimed his fist at the girl.

"I'm.. I'm sorry... Mother... Father... I just want to continue this life well... I hope this life will get better.." the little girl closed her eyes. accepting his fate. But a few seconds later, nothing happened. She was confused, then she opened her eyes. In front of her, Kagena blocked the bodyguard's blow with his left hand. Kagena's expression was cold, filled with uncontrollable anger. His eyes stared coldly and with disgust.

"Hey.. knock it off." said Kagena in a cold tone, while pushing the bodyguard using his left hand.

The rich woman was shocked and then pointed at the kagena with her fan. "Who- WHO ARE YOU!?"

"none of your business"

Kagena turned around and knelt down, extending his right hand to the girl. "Are you okay?"

The little girl then stood up slowly while holding her stomach in pain while Kagena's expression grew colder when she saw the little girl. Then the little girl held Kagena's hand and stood up and Kagena also followed suit. She smiled, "I.. I'm fine. Thank you, big brother."

Kagena smiled gently as he patted the little girl's head. "Thank goodness, I'm glad to hear that."

The rich woman became even more annoyed at being ignored, then, she walked towards Kagena and aimed a slap at his face. "DON'T IGNORE ME, YOU DAMNED BRAT!"

But before her slap could land, Kagena grabbed the woman's wrist. He then stared at her with a cold expression. "Is it that fun to discriminate against the weak and helpless? Do you truly enjoy every action you do consciously?"

"tch.. Troublesome kid" the woman tried to free her hand but Kagena kept holding her wrist.

"Wha- RELEASE ME!"

"Are you having fun? I'm curious about what's inside the heads of people like you. At least, when you don't want to give, your ethics are maintained. I thought nobles had an elite attitude, but it turns out their brains are empty."

Kagena gripped him even harder. The rich woman got even more annoyed and shouted, "I SAID, LET ME GO NOW!!!"

'...'

Kagena immediately released his grip and the woman fell. She then stood up and wanted to slap Kagena, but she saw the people around her looking at her. Feeling embarrassed, she started to leave and asked her bodyguard to go. She whispered as she walked with an annoyed tone, "Watch out, you damn brat."

Kagena lamented at the woman with a cold expression, but he let out a sigh, "hah.." and immediately turned to the little girl. He then knelt down and put a silver coin in the little girl's hat. "Here, eat something with this."

The girl looked at her hat and then looked at the kagena with a moved look.

"Are you sure, big brother..? I... I'm just a kid who-"

"It's okay, just take it. Even though I heard earlier that your parents... died in the war. But, I'm sure that life will be better in the future. I can't promise that, but I hope everything will be okay. Take it, you deserve it."

Kagena stroked the little girl's head. A touching look, the atmosphere became calm and warm, her eyes welled up with tears.

"B- b- big brother....."

And because she couldn't hold it in anymore, the little girl started to cry. Kagena then hugged the little girl and rubbed her back. "I hope everything is okay. You deserve everything."

[A warmth, remembering that everyone deserves love, affection, and warmth. Even though the world is cruel, there is a light in it, even if it is as small as a candle, that light will illuminate the endless darkness.]

Back to the present, Kagena asks his grandpa with a serious tone and expression.

"With so many people being tortured and discriminated against, even though I've seen things like this all along, is goodness truly absolute, Grandpa? Or does goodness exist only because people want to survive and work together when oppressed by the strong? Grandpa said that if goodness were everywhere and always made the world better, but in reality, the world was the opposite."

Grandpa Yuha looked at his grandson with a gentle smile. He put his tea on the table and answered in a gentle tone

"Kagena.. although kindness is often not big. But, if you do good, then the kindness will spread quickly. Maybe kindness is not that big, but because this world is indeed experiencing great conflict, we cannot expect that everything can happen. Regarding your question earlier, is goodness absolute?

Grandpa yuha took a deep breath, his expression full of uncertainty but he gave an answer. "I don't know. To be honest, I don't know whether kindness is absolute or not, because I'm just an old man who has also often seen cruelty in the world. Maybe that's god's plan. But kagena-" Grandpa yuha held kagena's shoulder with a determined expression.

"-You have to spread kindness, for the sake of happiness and love, don't make this world full of hatred, insults and pain but make this world full of love, affection and boundless kindness. Maybe my time is up and I am in my retirement, but I am sure, you can do it. Don't let this world fall into darkness."

Grandpa Yuha's expression was full of hope that one day his grandson would make the world a better place and less full of suffering. Kagena's eyes widened in shock, a valuable lesson in life about this cruel reality. He held his grandfather's hand with his left hand and with a determined and serious expression, he answered..

"Even though this world is unfair, even though this world is full of evil and darkness, however, I would rather be a small candle that illuminates that darkness and will continue to do good even though that goodness is oppressed. Yes... I WILL!!!"

Yuha's grandfather smiled warmly, believing in his grandson's ability to make the world a better place. His gaze was filled with certainty. Then he stood up while holding his back. "Okay, I believe you. Then, let's go to sleep. I'm sleepy."

"Yeah, I'm sleepy too." Kagena nodded in agreement as she stood up as well.

Then, Kagena and his grandfather walked to their respective rooms. They waved before entering and Kagena immediately went into her room and closed the door. His bedroom had 1 bed on the left and 1 study table on the right with some school books and a small lamp. He then walked to his bed and immediately lay down there and immediately closed his eyes with a smile on his face.

The night was so peaceful. The hustle and bustle of the city could be heard in the distance, where the true story began with an unimaginable responsibility.

Some time later, on a beautiful morning, Kagena was wearing blue sandals. He wore a black short shirt with a white jacket with a blue dragon logo on the back and black shorts. Grandpa Yuha came out of the room with a sleepy expression and saw Kagena preparing to go out.

"Where are you going this morning? And why are your clothes so neat? Is it possible... you want to meet a girl?"

"IT'S NOT LIKE THAT!"

Kagena denied it with embarrassment towards her grandfather, then he adjusted the position of his sandals. "I have an event today with Reva, more precisely we just want to walk around because today is a holiday so he asked me to walk. Just the two of us, REMEMBER, NO GIRLS!"

Kagena pointed at his grandpa with an annoyed look while his grandpa chuckled. "Okay, then, enjoy your day. Don't spend too much money because my pension hasn't arrived yet."

Kagena stood up, his face full of excitement. "Okay, then, I'll go first, Grandpa." His gaze was filled with impatience for what was to come.

Kagena immediately opened the door and went out, leaving his house with great enthusiasm. He ran towards Metro City quickly. Kagena's body then emitted a blue aura and several blue lightning bolts shot out, his blue eyes lit up and he ran faster, Grusha energy enveloping him. "Accelerate!" He immediately charged at great speed towards Metro City.

A few moments later, he arrived at Metro City, at the intersection of the city. The city was bustling, with many people walking and many vehicles passing by. However, Kagena was annoyed. He had been waiting for over an hour and Reva still hadn't arrived.

"Man, why hasn't that idiot come yet? WHAT TOOK HIM SO LONG? AM I BEING CHEATED!?!" Kagena said in a very annoyed tone while kicking a small pebble but the pebble hit a small child alongside with the mother. His mother looked at Kagena with annoyance and Kagena immediately realized and immediately bowed with guilt. "So- SORRY!"

Kagena then stood up straight, his face full of sadness. "Why do I always have bad luck every day?"

"You really sucks, don't you? Kagena?"

A voice came from behind Kagena. Kagena immediately turned around and saw Reva there. He was wearing a black short-sleeved shirt, a purple jacket with a black dragon logo, and blackish-purple shorts. "I thought you could just do something normal for one day, but it turns out it's hard."

Kagena immediately started walking, each step filled with the annoyance she was harboring. Kagena then grabbed Reva's jacket with an annoyed expression. "How long do you think I've been waiting here, crow-crested?"

"hm... maybe.. 10 minu-"

"ONE DAMNED HOUR"

Kagena tightened her grip with an increasingly annoyed face. Then, he released his grip. Kagena immediately looked at Reva with a sideways glance. "Speaking of which, what took you so long?"

"I'm helping my mother at the star market and I'll help my father for a moment," said Reva while holding his neck.

"Then why didn't you do it earlier?" said Kagena with an angry expression.

"Well, I also invited someone to go out with us." Reva said that while pointing behind him with his left hand.

"Huh? Who did you invite?" Kagena looked back and his expression was shocked and he widened his eyes.

"Yo- y- YOU- YOU ARE-?!?!"

Who was the person Reva invited? And why was Kagena so surprised? No one knows for sure, but it seems the person was smirking.
