"People work together, when it suits them. They're loyal, when it suits them.
They love each other, when it suits them.
And they kill each other, when it suits them." - Orell
On the poop deck Jack saw the 30 extra lizard men flowing out of the stairs to overwhelm the Sovereigns battle lines along the rails. He knew they had to divide that reinforcement or be swept away. As he was contemplating the leap across, Nymeria cleared both rails and landed in the middle of 5 lizard men that were on the enemy ships poop deck. Arya shouted, "Nymeria!" She jumped across stabbing one of the lizard men circling the wolf. Brienne made the jump after Arya, bowling over two enemies and Jack followed. The wolf dispatched one of the fallen lizards as the two circling behind her closed jabbing with swords. Brienne stomped the skull of the other fallen lizard and it's shriek was cut off in a fountain of green blood and brain tissue. Jack finished the enemy Arya had stabbed and jumped to the quarter deck. The creature at the wheel was larger than most of them and he turned to fight Jack. It barked some orders in a garbled language and the back ten of the extras flowed up the stairs to join the fight on the quarter deck.
On the poop deck the two lizards behind Nymeria both jumped in slashing at her hind quarters. One grazed her hip eliciting a yelp at the flesh wound. A Valyrain steel dagger stuck in its head. The wolf wheeled round and viciously slaughtered the last one. She snarled and bounded to the quarter deck to meet oncoming foes. Arya retrieved her dagger and followed down the stairs. Brienne studied the creatures she was fighting now, momentarily. Bronn was right they had scales on their backs coming right over their heads to their noses. Small diamond shaped protrusions ran down their backsides and their red eyes had vertical slits like a snake. She shouted, "Bronn they look more like dragons than lizards!" She jumped after Arya and engaged on the quarter deck with abandon.
On the opposite quarter deck Bronn dispatched one that had managed to stab Springer's arm. He looked over and shouted back, "Who cares what they are just kill them all." At the rail on deck one of the 5 knights that held their center went down with a sword in his waist. Tormund unsheathed his axe and swung through three of the lizards filling the gap. He laughed with delight. Tormund's laughter and blood lust filled the crew with resolve and they pushed back against the oncoming enemy.
Bronn on the rail now, looked down where one of the wounded lizards had fallen, an oar slashed out and finished the lizard. Bronn laughed, "Their own rowers are killing the fallen ones, knock them down." The three captains were at the rails now fighting fiercely and the crewmen still standing maned the rest of the rail, maiming with boat hooks any creature that came close. Thomas and Gendry had set the thunder box up at the quarter deck rail, they were loading for a close shot when a lizard swung over on a rope and dropped in their midst. As he landed Thomas swept his feet out from under him. The creature thudded to the deck with a satisfying thunk. Thomas stabbed him in the neck with his sword and Gendry finished him with a hammer blow. Thomas could hear Bronn's happy laughter from his perch on the railing, " Ha, survive will ye?"
Thomas and Gendry finished locking down the 'thunder box' and loaded it. Thomas yelled, "Bronn, Tormund...duck!" The two turned and dropped low as an earsplitting boom thundered across the decks of both vessels. The ball raised hairs on Tormund's head as it cut through the enemy on the gang plank. It maimed or killed 15 lizards on it's way into the deck and out the other hull of the enemy ship. From his crouch Bronn picked up a cry from the rowers below. His ears were ringing but he still heard a "Help!" The 4 knights still standing took advantage of the opening and pushed down the gang plank onto the enemy vessel's deck. Tormund followed in their wake. A gap formed at the enemy stairs, most having swarmed the enemy quarter deck to assist their Captain and the rest having bunched up to meet the oncoming knights and Tormund. Bronn jumped across into that gap and shouted for Thomas and Gendry to follow him.
The pair looked at each other and then jumped across to follow. They ducked into the stairwell and Bronn dispatched two enemies in the hallway below. They circled down stairs and Bronn killed a guard at a locked door. Gendry smashed lock and Bronn ducked into a treasure hoard, Bronn greedily took it but started to turn away when a sword caught his eye. He grabbed it and sheathed his own. "Damn it is Valyrain steel," he chuckled. He wove it in the air in front of him and then they ducked down to the rowers deck. There had been a slave master and two lizard guards over the slaves but the master and one of the guards perished as the ball exited the far hull through them. It had also taken the front slave in his chains on that side. The other guard was cowering away from wielded oars pointed in his direction and Bronn pounced and dispatched him. He turned to the two, "Get these men...and pixies free. But hold back on those two lizard slaves." One slave looked him in the eyes saying, "I see you spotted my sword." Bronn looked at the man closely saying, "Do I know you? Wait I have seen you. When I was younger I watched you fight in a tavern. But you had blue hair...and greyscale. How did you survive it?" Jon looked at him saying, "I went by Griff then but you can call me Jon. I though to die a stone man but I met a red witch on the road once and she called out that the Lord of Light had need of me. She placed a hand on my greyscale and it all sloughed off."
Gendry and Thomas had freed them all by then, the water had risen to their ankles. 10 humans and 6 pixies stood and stretched and then armed themselves as they could and started up the stairs to join battle. The backs of their clothes were in ribbon from the lash and some had fresh blood there but they meant to fight for their freedom as they could. Bronn tossed the sword to Jon, "You might need this."
