"The sky must be bright right now? I bet the birds in my area are still shitting on the bike that I owned" says Kaine. He was sitting on the bench waiting for his order. He was excited but at the same time, he was scared. The room that was so wide before, now seems like a confined place for him.
"I bet Irene is still beautiful like always. She must have missed me" says Kaine. His thought seems to wander around, that all he can do at that moment. He was ordered to sit on the bench with others, and he noticed something. He must be mistaken, but he knew he didn't. The people were changing, they were scared before, almost trying to escape from the place, but now they seem accepting their fate, no, they were eager to do the mission. Only a few days have passed since they can become Sentinel, their spirit should not recover yet.
"You really are special" a voice coming out from nowhere began to approach him. It was Commander Alexander. The commander stared at Kaine from the top to the bottom, and he stopped at Kaine's eyes, Kaine's eyes were still bright, brighter than the others. "Come with me" says the commander. Kaine followed the commander's order. He followed his back, the commander's back was wider than him, Kaine looks like a child compared to the giant commander.
"I've never met someone as tall as you" says Kaine
"My height was the same as you before but after years of becoming Sentinel, I became taller" Commander Alexander replied.
Kaine's question about his body that's still growing was true after all. It's like his second growth spurt started to begin. Kaine looked at Commander Alexander, his opinion changed. Commander, who he thought will be stern and would not think his underling was worth his time, is nice after all.
Kaine and the commander are still walking, it's been thirty minutes since they walked, thirty minutes of silence. At last, they arrived at the place, a room deep down in the basement. The room was vast, and acted as a training place for soldiers to practice fighting. Kaine was amazed to see two Sentinel fighting, their movements were fast, and every single attack created a wave.
"They were so slow, their movements were easy to anticipate," says Kaine. Without a doubt, the Sentinels in front of him surpassed human limitation, but for Kaine, their movements were too slow and had lots of holes. His senses were greater than them, he was more powerful than them.
Kaine walked to the two Sentinels that were fighting, leaving Commander Alexander alone.
"Can I join the fight?" says Kaine
The two Sentinels were surprised, but they completely agreed when they saw Commander Alexander nodded. "Who do you want to fight?" the Sentinel asked. He saw Kaine as arrogant, from Kaine's looks, the Sentinel already can deduce Kaine just became Sentinel.
"Both of you" says Kaine. He looked at the Sentinel with a smile.
The Sentinels were surprised again, they couldn't believe what they heard. The Sentinel is the defender of earth, the proud warrior, and such arrogance will not be tolerated.
"Do you want to wear armor?" the Sentinel asked, as they both were wearing their armor.
"No" says Kaine
The two Sentinels were ready, they gap their distance and one of the Sentinels began to march to Kaine, but Kaine evaded the attack easily while kicking the Sentinel down. The other Sentinel were surprised, but before he could react, his abdomen was hit multiple times, and he fell down to the ground. The Sentinel that fell down before quickly grabbed Kaine from behind, but Kaine easily comes out from the grab easily just by his pure strength.
"Stop!"
After hearing the order from Commander Alexander, Kaine stopped, his fist was inches away from the Sentinel's face. The Sentinel barely can react, his eyes can see the punch, but his body's reflexes were too slow.
The commander looked at Kaine, he expected Kaine would possess that kind of strength. Even he admitted his strength is beneath Kaine. The performance that was shown by Kaine confirmed his suspicion.
"You are more than Sentinel" says the commander
"What do you mean?"
"Is he a Grand Sentinel like you?" the Sentinel from before asked. He knew the power and the speed Kaine had is not normal for someone who just became Sentinel.
"No, he is not a Grand Sentinel, he is more than that" says the commander
"Do you mean… he is… A Sovereign!?"
The Sentinel quickly kneeled before Kaine, along with every Sentinel that was present. They don't dare to raise their heads. Their heart beating fast and sweats started to come out. The Sentinel were an advanced human, what they feared is not the same as a normal human, but the sweat is not because of fear but because of their respect.
Kaine was surprised, the sudden escalation really confused him. His mind was blank. He was lectured when he was chosen about the real state of the world, but the word "Sovereign" never appeared. Looking at how surprised they are, the Sovereign title must be so important.
"What is Sovereign?" Kaine asked,
"Sovereign is the leader among leaders, a king among a king, a ruler among a ruler" says Commander Alexander without hesitation.
Kaine was fascinated by the phrase that was said by the commander. Kaine was not ready for such a responsibility, but even he knew he cannot escape from his fate. He was told he would be a captain that led a hundred Sentinel under him. His mind wandered as he left Commander Alexander behind. Nothing was in his mind, he was too shocked to think.
Six months passed since they became Sentinels, they trained each day and every second passed, they grew stronger. The newly selected Sentinel will prove their existence in their first battle. They were trained in assassination, medical and martial arts. Their learning abilities were hundreds of times faster than normal humans and adapted quickly to many sorts of situations.
"Captain, we were ready for your order" says Zeno, one of the Sentinels under Kaine.
"Tell the soldier to gather in the training hall" says Kaine, he was already the captain of this squad, a position that usually was given to an experienced Sentinel. Kaine's identity as Sovereign is still a secret. In the first week, he was rejected by his squad, but after numerous fighting, the squad realized Kaine was above them in everything.
"We are here to practice your battle prowess" says Kaine
"You will fight me in a group, I want you to show me your teamwork" Kaine continued his speech
The Sentinel was strong, but teamwork is very important. Sentinel were stronger and when they were in a team, their chance of victory was higher. Five Sentinels would be fighting against Kaine in one match.
Kaine standing in the training hall was relaxed and calm. He was sure about his strength and his speed. This match is not only for his underlings but for him too. Kaine's breath was stable, he was a lot calmer than he expected. He stared at five sentinels that will fight him with furious gaze.
"What is that?" one of the Sentinel asked, He was scared of his captain. The presence of his captain terrified him. The five of them trembled as if they were grabbed by a large shadow beast. The crimson aura that comes from their captain is not just an illusion. The crimson aura shrouded and grabbed their bodies tight. They were scared for their life. It's the first time they saw their captain like this.
"What are you waiting for? Come at me" says Kaine
His eyes widened, he was filled with madness, a taste of fight would be his salvation. Kaine was impatient, his reason was lost. The purpose of the training has been forgotten.
"Captain?" says Leon, the squad vice captain. He was the second in the squad, only behind Kaine.
"What happened to you?" Leon asked. He realized Kaine's behavior has changed. Leon's body also trembled the same as others in the room. "All of you keep your guard!" Leon screamed, he knew something would happen.
"Keep your distance from Captain and defend yourself" before Leon's voice can be fully heard, a bunch of Sentinels have fallen down. Kaine moved like a wind and struck his opponent at a fast speed.
"Stop Captain!"
