Chapter 16 - This Silas Is Crazy!

Bang! Bang! Bang!

[Gunslinger]

The gunshots rippled through the air, each one creating a shockwave. At the gateway, a man was holding up two fingers. He looked as if he were conducting music.

Hollow Beasts roared and cried from all directions. Some even awoke from their slumbers and went to hunt this enemy. The man firing these shots from his fingertips was none other than Silas Roe!

He wore a fur coat with black jeans that had chains and other accessories. In a way, he resembled Simon, sharing the same onyx depths, except his were more like ice.

His black hair was shaggy and short, barely reaching the middle of his neck. The wind slammed against his face, causing him to squint.

"Bang! Bang! Bang!"

(Is he crazy?!)

More importantly to Simon, did he come here of his own free will? He highly doubted this; he had to have another officer with him.

Silas was attracting more and more Hollow Beasts out of hiding with each shot. But Simon knew what this meant; it was time to escape!

Simon got as close to the supermarket as possible before letting Jör free. If he got caught with her, there was no telling what the bureau would do to him.

"Wait until we leave the supermarket, then hide in the basement again!"

Simon rushed into the building, and Leo and Haruto had already woken up from the torturous sounds of war.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

"What the hell is that, Simon?!"

"Silas is here! Get your stuff and let's go!"

They quickly gathered what little belongings they could and rushed towards the entrance. Due to Silas's shooting, he was attracting Hollow Beasts towards himself.

This was a problem for the three who were still below him. The more beasts he attracted, the more problems would arise the longer they stayed.

In fact, there was already a horde of creatures chasing them.

These creatures were about the same size as a human, but their arms were tentacles. Additionally, their legs were replaced by paws with claw-like nails. For the rest of their bodies, it varied, but they were equally disgusting.

Each of them was foaming at the mouth, trying to get a piece of the group. With well-timed dodges, they managed to get away without a single scratch.

However, this was not the end for them. The hard part was getting up the wall. The creatures expanded their spines, and from them came wings.

(To hell with this!) Simon screamed inwardly.

[Probability]

He calculated the probability of the entire team escaping, and the result, by itself, was 62%. He still needed these assets, however, so he poured his energy into the dice and made it 100%!

He did not have time to worry about consequences right now; this was a matter of life and death.

Leo also activated his Signature, making him climb twice as fast. Haruto did the same, carefully avoiding the attacks from below him.

[Resonance]

[Foresight]

Silas looked down from the platform he was on and directed his aim below the group.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

(This fucker! Does he not care about where he's aiming?!)

No matter how Simon felt, the Beasts were all dealt with, and so far, everyone was unharmed.

Behind Silas, another man stood there smoking a cigarette. He was a tall, tan, muscular man looking in his mid to late thirties with short, wavy parted hair and a studded beard.

He wore a ring that barely fit his third finger. Additionally, he wore black pants with a coat and a belt wrapped around it.

Seeing that all the other members had reached this platform, Silas walked away. He patted the tan man's shoulder, and the man squatted down.

(...Absolute lazy piece of trash. Nineteen years old and still getting piggyback rides?)

Leo also seemed disgusted by this — how prideful was he?

"Let's go, Ezra," Silas said lazily.

They didn't have time to dwell on his actions; escape was close. But more importantly, death was closer. They all ran out of this replica world and were forced onto the train tracks by Hollow Beasts.

Roarrr!

Haruto covered his ears with this sound. Being blind made him reliant on his hearing, so his ears were sensitive. It didn't take long before they began to bleed.

Seeing this, Silas turned his body and clasped his hands together.

"Brrrrrrrat! Brrrrrrrrrat!"

He began to rapidly shoot at the beasts. No matter how many fell, it seemed as if it only increased their numbers.

The ones that did manage to die turned into maggots, crawling onto the nearest beast next to them, turning into armor. Still, Silas did not let up on his shooting.

Ezra quickly grabbed his lighter out of his pocket, bursting it open as a wall of flames appeared behind them.

[Ignition]

Leo felt incredibly useless in this situation; he was meant for close quarters, not ranged combat.

However, with the firewall now making most of the Beasts hesitant, Silas took a deep breath. He held a singular finger up, his eyes narrowing as all the skin from his finger turned into a bullet before him.

With his skin gone, the tender crimson ropes of muscles in his finger were now exposed.

"Bang."

The sound ripped the air apart, along with the Hollow Beasts. Beyond the speed of light, more than half of the horde had been eradicated — reduced to a pile of their own slop.

However, Haruto was still struggling to follow along with his bleeding ears. Simon held him close, guiding his footsteps as they ran.

"Leo, give us a boost!"

"Yes, Sir!"

[Resonance]

Leo activated his second impact on the two, causing them to burst forward in front of Silas and Ezra. The first signs of sunlight could be seen; they were finally approaching the entrance of this gateway.

The Hollow Beasts were gaining on them. It didn't help that now, they were ascending the spiral staircase.

Most of the beasts died from the exposure to oxygen, but the strongest ones held onto their lives. Even still, they chased, groaning in pain and vomiting blood just to keep up.

"Bang!"

Silas shot all of them dead except for three. These three looked as if they would catch Leo.

As if on cue, the door above swung open, and Elliot appeared. His timing was convenient, too convenient.
