Chapter 3 - Chapter 3 - Summoning

I closed the system window, deciding to check in my own room. I looked around and took out the compass from my pocket.

I tapped the compass and activated the mana sparks inside it. The needle floated up from the compass and pointed at the direction.

I followed.

The academy was large and consisted of many strange things. Sometimes, the pathway even shifted.

Nobody knew why, the leading theory was that the first headmaster designed like this to combat demons from infiltrating into the academy.

Well, that was just a theory. I didn't believe in such things. My first thought was that the first headmaster was kind of crazy.

I meant who won't go batshit crazy during that time period. I was lucky that I wasn't transmigrated at that time.

After following the needle for a few minutes, I found myself at the left side of the academy. It was the exact reason I was aiming at.

I grabbed the needle and carefully placed it inside the compass, closing it and shoving into my pocket.

I sighed and entered the instructor's dormitory. The first I noticed was the lack of people. Makes sense since the instructors didn't usually stay here.

Only the unusual ones or the one that loved the academy use this kind place. I am not part of the two.

I really am.

The dormitory was huge. Each floor was used by four people and there were about 20 floors. Spatial magic was added during the construction of the building.

I looked around and nodded. Great, there is no leakage in the space.

I climbed the stairs and arrived at the top floor. The floor that was reserved for the important individuals of the academy and Empire.

The headmaster, Emperor, Noise family and the important guest.

The headmaster didn't stay here as she didn't need to function like humans. After all, she was a demigod level being. As for the Emperor?

I shook my head. Who cares about that old man?

I entered my room. Naturally, as the heir of the Noise family, I got my own room. I think I will like this place quite a lot.

There were no people here to bother me. No crazy person's dragging into a fight or spar. I was alone.

Granted there is an old man tailing his every step but hey, he was quiet and left me alone. I don't sense him but to be sure, I asked my contract creature.

"Veskhul." I called out.

A purple mist flew out from my body and circled around.

"What?"

"Is there anyone here?" I asked mentally.

The mist spread around in the room, entering into every corner. It retracted back to my place and swirled around near my hand.

"Nah. Although this place is strange, I don't see anyone here. Even that creepy old man." Ves said.

I nodded and flashed a smile. "I got good news, my dear Ves."

"What? Did you find a clue to your home?"

I shook my head in disappointment. "No. But it is an interesting thing. You know about my system right?"

"If you are talking about that string attached to your soul? Then yes. Wait a minute." The purple mist wiggled and entered my chest.

It then emerged out from my back and landed on my shoulder.

"Woah. The string got stronger. It is a shame that my current vessel can't see the end of that string. Tell me what you gain from that." Ves asked enthusiastically.

I smiled, grinning ear to ear.

"It finally showed the purpose of my arrival here. I haven't checked the full content yet. Wanna see it together?" I said.

The mist motioned a nodding expression.

"Yeah. I will stay inside your eyes. I don't trust the string fully yet." Ves said and entered my left eyes.

The left side of my vision turned dark but I didn't panic. Ves and I have been partners for two years.

Because of him, I survived many things. Although he may be a strange being, he was still the only friend in this world that I can fully trust with all my secrets.

You have no idea how a friend can change your whole psyche.

I coughed in embarrassment and opened the system mentally.

[You have been targeted as the host of the narrative system.]

[System mission- Create a happy ending for the world.]

[Because of the host's current situation, the system will now deploy the restricted mode.]

[Current task - Find the main protagonist of the story.]

[Unclaimed reward - One.]

That was strange.

The mist left from my eyes.

"You say that you expected this kind of thing right?"

I nodded. "Yeah, to be honest, I expected more than this."

I let out a sigh and stood up.

"Want to know my reward?" I asked.

The mist nodded.

"It says it can upgrade my contracted beast. That means you are getting stronger." I said in delight.

The reaction I got from Ves was somewhat lacking.

"I don't know if it will work for me. Don't I tell you, I am the great ruler of the Dark side of Reality, Great Veskhul." Ves said, flying around in the room.

I heard that about a thousand times. He always proclaimed that he was an eldritch incomprehensible horror.

I naturally didn't believe in such things for two reasons.

For the first reason, Ves was not strong at all. I don't want to sound as an unappreciative person but Ves only helps me establish my mana core to the soul.

The second reason was there was no way this lovely mist was a great cosmic horror.

I called out the reward. It was a mental card.

[Can upgrade the contract beast to four mana cores beast.]

[Expire in 15 minutes.]

I hurriedly grabbed the purple mist and slapped the mental card into it.

[The target must be in this world.]

"What?" I verbally exclaimed. "Shit."

"I told you, it won't work on me." Ves said, laughing.

I grabbed my pants and took out a leather bag. I immediately cleared the nearby area, kicking away the table and chairs to the side.

I crouched down, taking a magical white charcoal and started drawing the magic cycle.

"Well you stop laughing." I yelled at Ves.

Ves didn't stop and instead pushed deeper into the prank. My eyes twitched in anger and I sighed and went on my drawing, ignoring the purple mist.

My hand was steady and fast, without any error. I drew a two circle magic rune within 2 minutes. I stood up and clapped my hands.

"Now, I need mana." I muttered to myself.

"Ves." I called out, this time there was no playful tone in my voice. It was time for work and Ves knew it, as he surrounded my body and soaked into it.

I felt immense mana coming from my body. I found myself enjoying the feeling of strength.

I let out a soft smile. Too bad, I can't feel this all the time.

I extended my hands and manipulated mana in a way that even the headmaster would be surprised by this.

As an heir of the Noise family, my talent was unparalleled. Ahem, that was not because I am arrogant.

I focused my attention onto the magic rune. The mana particle entered into the rune evenly fueling the power.

I felt sadness as Ves left my body, disconnecting mana core.

I watched as the rune vibrated. It was a shame that the upgrade card had a time limit.

Otherwise, I can draw even more impressive summoning rituals. I have to thank my previous self for being blessed with an unparalleled talent in all.

The summoned monster depended on the magic rune.

Right now, I drew a two circle rune so the creature I am getting should be a two circle or lower.

The rune suddenly evaporated into the white mist. My eyes peeled up as I saw a movement in the white mist.
