Chapter 7 - 7: Blood

"Let go of me you lunatics."

The second slave we had bought screamed, struggling against the straps tying her to the second operating table. She was still in a fiery stage before she came to terms with the situation she was in.

"Administer the muscle relaxers."

Luna injected the struggling woman with the blue potion. Her struggles started to reduce the moment the potion entered her veins.

"It's getting better and better."

I said calmly. The relaxer had been crude at first but now, it was almost perfect.

" Put the other one back in the cell."

I was referring to the first adventurer I had bought. He had managed to survive through most of the experiments, but the human mind and body were fragile. Right now he was nothing but an empty shell.

When he first arrived he had been just as fiery. Loud, insulting, and as the sick human being he was, he tried to force himself on Luna.

She beat him of course.

Right now, he was nothing but a useless bag of meat, still alive but barely able to form a coherent thought. He had stopped talking by the second month and finally lost his mind by the third month.

It was still a huge feat to survive all those tests. Maybe it was because he was more muscled and an adventurer. The addition of a strengthening potion may have also kept him alive.

I covered my nose as the smell of urine and feces hit me the moment Luna moved the man. I wondered how she even survived every time I left after my experiments.

Watching an eight-year-old girl pull a full-grown unconscious man was a jarring sight. This was something that even full-grown men on earth would not be able to perform.

"Master can I help you with acquiring materials for your research?"

Luna asked me after throwing the man into the cell. She had started to get curious about the outside world. I had never allowed her outside the estate except when we went to the plains for her usual training.

She always picked up herbs from nearby forests while we were there and brought them back to me happily. It made me happy that she thought of me first.

"No, Luna you're still young and too weak."

I calmly told her to shutting down her little hope. It wasn't that I was unwilling to send her out, she was really too young. I really needed all the help I could get with everything; collecting materials, getting new slaves, and helping create my own source of income. Luna would have been a great help if she were just a bit older.

I dreaded the day my mother decided to cut off all my allowances. Even the allowance I was receiving now was starting to become too little to support my growing research.

I had already expanded the room to twice its previous size, but it was still not enough. It was starting to get full.

Luna needed more training and I had gotten the perfect tutors for her. I needed her to be all-around functional before I could release her to the world.

"Master please.."

She fell to her knees in front of me; she had never done that before.

"Tch..who has been teaching you this ?"

While still on her knees I could see her trembling. It was probably one of the maids who had taught her. They did use this tactic when they made a mess in front of me.

Most of the time I'm always too preoccupied to care. Luna seemed to be copying bad habits from them. She looked up and seemed to notice with bewilderment and irritation.

She stood up and dusted her maid dress until there was no dirt before stepping behind me silently.

....

"Lucian won't you welcome your beloved sister?"

Stephan's sultry voice came through the door. I was in my room reading medical books when the knock on the door came.

I let out a heavy sigh. She was the definition of trouble whenever she decided to initiate contact.

She had decided to spend her school holiday in the Dutchy instead of the capital where she always stays. Whatever she was planning was definitely not good. Or she did something in the capital and decided to run back and hide under mother's wings.

"Did you finally kill the third prince?"

I asked amused. I wouldn't put it behind her. She might really have killed that stupid man and run. I wasn't planning on opening the door. I didn't want her in my room at all. She's a walking disaster when she isn't around her mother.

I had already experienced the horror of having my perfectly organized room turned upside down after she lost a hairpin mother had given her. It had been stuck on her dress the whole time.

"Lucian stop being a child and open the door."

She was getting irritated, and I could feel it even inside the room. She always has a short temper.

"Just go away sister, it's past midnight. I'll welcome you tomorrow during breakfast."

I opened the book I had been reading and continued what I was doing. She will probably leave after noticing I wasn't responding.

What she did next was really beyond my expectations. I heard the sound of keys before the lock on my door turned and she walked in like she owned the place. She must have come with the keys before she could even ask to be let inside.

I suppose this was why we were blood-related. She could read me like a book. I didn't stop reading my book but listened as her footsteps approached the place I was sitting.

The footsteps were too quiet, which meant she was barefoot, something she would never do unless she was in her room. So she was walking around the mansion barefoot.

She came and stood in front of me, pulled the book out of my hands, and threw it away.

"You could have placed it gently on the table. Must you always be such a brute, sister? It's very unladylike. I feel sorry for your future husband."

I said sarcastically. She was dressed in a long white nightdress that stuck to her fully developed body like glue. Even sitting down I could see through the dress from the light behind him.

Why would she even dress like this when she was coming to a child's room? I was pretty sure her dressing was more innocent than sexual. Even her normal dresses stuck to her body like a second skin.

She did have the assets to advertise, hence everything she wore fit her perfectly.

She kneeled down before me and took both my hands into her larger ones. This just made it clearer that I was just a child, body-wise. Her breasts were barely hanging in the dress. I could also see her nipples popping out on the fabric.

"Lucian, my lovely, beautiful, kind brother..."

" What?" I cut her off," Just say what you want instead of the exaggerated praises."

She smiled and brought her hand to my left cheek and touched it. I subconsciously leaned into her touch, something I do when my mother touches me.

" Can you let me taste your blood?"

She whispered softly. I stood up forcefully, her hand slipping from my cheeks.

"Which moran pushed this stupidity into your head? Mother will kill us both if she ever finds out."

I whispered, yelling at her. I don't know what had gotten into her but it wasn't good. Drinking my blood would be like taking illustrator flowers. These were flowers that were extremely addictive after only one sip of nectar or just eating the petals.

If any of us drank each other's blood, we would become addicted to the blood. I couldn't imagine putting myself into that kind of position. From The Vampire Diaries, I had read. Vampire blood was sweeter than human blood; it was so sweet that it became addictive to other vampires who had tasted it.

It was worse for blood relatives, especially siblings. This was probably a disaster in the making. The drinker can still function normally and drink other blood occasionally, but they will still require the vampire's blood occasionally.

I looked at Seraph carefully. I just couldn't fathom what had gotten into her after thinking about it.

"Who's going to tell her?"

My sister countered. I sat back on the couch with an exhausted sigh. I knew it was curiosity on her end, it has to be. Or maybe she was entering her rebellious stage. At eighteen she was still a child compared to how long vampires lived.

"Sister, sometimes you can be very stupid, you know that, right? You know, Mother will find out one way or another. I do not wish to cross her. "

I said stubbornly. This was a hill I was ready to die on. I did not want to be saddled with her for life, that is, if I could survive mother.

"I'll pay you, how about that?"

She tempted.

" A hundred gold coins. "

I folded faster than I had anticipated. I needed money and any source would be helpful. I got fifty coins as allowance but I'm sure Seraph got a lot more.

"Deal."

She accepted eagerly. I regretted asking too little. She was probably making her own money outside of what mother gave us.

" You'll drink from my wrist."

I extended my left arm to her. I was ambidextrous but I preferred using my right hand. A force of habit I had inherited from my former self.

I looked as she bit into my arm, there was a small pain before it disappeared.

She was so busy she didn't notice my smile as I watched her feed. What she didn't know was that she had just sealed her fate.
