Chapter 14 - Devils needed cash too?

Chapter 13 - Devils needed cash too?

A faint buzz of power stirred in Cain's hand. A sleek black pistol materialized.

Knowledge of every firearm..handling, mechanics and precision, flooded his mind instantly.

Convenient.

He nodded in satisfaction, then focused on the Devil's Lance.

With a single thought, the pistol shifted, morphing into a heavy, rugged revolver.

So the form changes on command.

Cain stroked his chin thoughtfully.

Infinite Demonic Power. Heart of Magic. Devil's Lance.

Putting these three together, and he'll have unlimited, rapidly mastered magical ammunition with infinite firepower.

Still, his level hadn't budged.

He felt stronger, yes.

But at his current ultimate class strength, adding a single Low class servant barely moved the needle.

Rapid growth was easy at the start. Past a certain point, it'll slow dramatically.

Cain shook his head, then glanced at Akemi, who was already practicing basic spells with visible excitement.

His gaze lingered.

"Sis, you're about to flash everyone."

Shiho noticed the same thing and spoke up. Akemi's thin inner layer had slipped dangerously low while she gestured through a spell.

Akemi froze.

She'd completely forgotten.

With a blushing face, she snatched her coat and hurriedly pulled it on.

Shiho rolled her eyes at Cain, then sighed deeply.

If this kept up, the sisters really would end up sharing the same bed.

Cain felt a flicker of regret once Akemi was covered again. He cleared his throat. "By the way, do either of you know where the Black Organization's headquarters is?"

Akemi's eyes lit up. "Master, you're going after them?"

She harbored nothing but hatred for the organization.

Revenge today would trump even magic lessons.

"Exactly. Leaving them around is an eyesore," Cain said with a nod. "And we can rob the rich to help the poor while we're at it."

Even with Shiho's generous wallet, money didn't grow on trees.

Devils needed cash too?

Akemi's brain short-circuited for a second.

"So… do you know the location or not?"

She shook her head. "I don't."

Cain stared.

"But Vermouth definitely does," Akemi continued. "She's in the country. I can lure her out."

Cain's eyes glinted. "That works."

He wondered if Vermouth had the aptitude to become a servant.

Shiho, scribbling notes to help Akemi with magic, paused at the shift in Cain's expression.

She sighed again and resumed writing, pen pressing hard enough to make the table creak.

Akemi pulled out her phone and typed.

[Akemi Miyano: I need to see you. Convenient?]

[Vermouth: A low ranking member has no authority to request a meeting.]

[Akemi Miyano: It's about Shiho.]

[Vermouth: Come to this address…]

Akemi exhaled in relief. "Master, she agreed."

"But it's in another city. We won't make it in time."

Cain smiled. "Don't measure devils by human standards."

A magic circle appeared beneath their feet.

The three vanished from the villa.

Night hung still and deep.

Moonlight silvered the waves at the docks.

Shiho stared at the dark waterfront, with a complicated expression.

A few days ago, she would never have imagined voluntarily approaching that witch.

Her gaze drifted to Cain beside her.

Everything had changed because of this man.

Gradually, her eyes softened...

Yes.

With him here, she wasn't afraid of anything anymore.

In the distance, Akemi spotted a new arrival.

A blonde woman in a black leather jacket strode forward.

Elegant, mature, voluptuous and eyes that missed nothing.

Several men in black suits flanked her like silent statues.

"Vermouth, you need bodyguards to meet a low ranking member like me?"

Akemi gave a faint, mocking smile.

"Can't be too careful," Vermouth replied coolly. "Enough chatter. That person is very interested in your sister's status."

"I need to know."

"Shiho is doing fine," Akemi said calmly. "But I didn't come here to deliver that news."

"I came to end the organization."

Vermouth looked confused with a face full of question marks.

The woman wasn't drunk.

Why was she spouting nonsense?

Did she have a death wish?

Tap, tap, tap.

Crisp footsteps echoed from the shadows.

Vermouth turned instinctively.

A man and a woman emerged slowly into the moonlight.

"Master, this Vermouth is the real one?"

"No disguise. Our caution was unnecessary."

Cain nodded.

He'd stayed hidden at first to avoid spooking a decoy or letting her slip away entirely.

...

"So both sisters have betrayed the organization after all?"

Vermouth's eyes sharpened as she overheard Cain and Akemi.

The men in black behind her moved with practiced precision, hands sliding toward weapons.

Waves lapped softly against the pier, the only sound in the sudden stillness.

"You seriously brought just three people?"

Vermouth's expression turned strange.

"That's more than enough for you," Akemi answered.

"With Master here, the entire organization could be erased without effort," Shiho added.
