The source of the Parute Trees is an existence called the Transcendent Eater. It is a creature that lived amongst Transcendents, wielding the capability to revive any living being it consumes.
Moreover, its roots are capable of traversing the length of an entire Continent within a day and rapidly suck out its nutrients.
If left unchecked, a Transcendent Eater is capable of destroying an entire Continent. Regular Continents didn't have the assistance of a Transcendent Eater and instead had to be on guard against rogue Transcendent Eaters.
