Chapter 40 - Kruger

Alan glanced around the office, his gaze sweeping past the familiar shelves and ledgers.

"Where are the others?" he asked.

Rabbit straightened slightly and answered without hesitation.

"Aside from Dave and Leon, who are currently working at Khan's smithy, the others are spread out."

He continued, clearly having prepared this report.

"Minerva and Shane are in Patrian. They demonstrated exceptional magical talent, so I sent them there to study under Earl Ashur. From what I've heard, they're even in the process of becoming his disciples."

Alan's eyes narrowed slightly in interest.

"That fast…"

Rabbit nodded. "Their talent couldn't be hidden for long."

"And Kane?" Alan asked.

Rabbit smiled faintly. "Kane is at the Northern Frontier. Lord Steim personally accepted him as an apprentice after seeing his potential. He's learning the way of the knight directly under him now."

"But of course, their allegiance is to you, my lord. They are merely studying under others and can return the moment you call for them," Rabbit added.

Alan nodded."For now, let them be."Then he thought inwardly, If I remember correctly, there are special titles gained by studying under great figures. They'll benefit greatly from this.

"Anyway, I'm leaving again," Alan said. "I just stopped by to prepare for my next destination."

"May I ask where that would be?" Rabbit asked.

"Hm. I'll be going west first, stopping by Reidan, and then working my way toward my main goal from there," Alan replied.

Rabbit fell silent for a moment, clearly deep in thought. Then he asked,"My lord… how large is your contribution to the kingdom at this point?"

Alan chuckled lightly."Hm, enough to earn me a Viscount title."

Rabbit's eyes brightened, and he smiled."Then how about taking Reidan as our territory?"

Alan looked at him in surprise."What do you mean?"

"Normally, we couldn't take Reidan," Rabbit explained. "It was once the Eternal Kingdom's second-largest city. But after a monster emerged in the river supplying water to city and the emergence of numerous dangerous monsters along the trade routes."

"And last lord and his army also fell to Vampires when they tried to fight against them, leading to a situation where no one want to be the city lord there anymore."

He continued steadily,"Lord Steim currently holds the authority to appoint a new city lord there. With your power, my lord—and with Sir Piaro at your side—we could deal with the undead monsters, cleanse the river, and eliminate the threats surrounding the region."

Rabbit's smile sharpened slightly."If we do that, we can restore Reidan… and turn it into our own city."

"That way, we can maximize our gains," Rabbit said, and Alan nodded.

"Hm. Right now, I'm busy, so I can't handle the city affairs," Alan said with a sigh. "Once I'm free, we can proceed with your plan."

Rabbit nodded.

"As you wish."

With that, Alan left, giving a few more instructions to Rabbit. His next stop was the grave of Albantino's family. He had already completed the quest to craft 100 Epic-rank items, so he was heading there to submit it to the Ghost Elders.

After ten minutes, Alan arrived. He stood before the graves of the Khan family elders.

"Elders, I am here," he said.

Fog began to appear once again, and the ghosts of the elders slowly emerged.

"You have crafted the 100 Epic items," one of the elder ghosts said, nodding.

"The reward for this is left it in a cave near the southern frontier, where the Snow Lizardmen reside."

[Go to the location to receive your rewards]

"What's with you guys and monster lairs?" Alan complained. "Can't you just put this stuff in normal places?"

Last time, it was in a merman lair. Now it was in a Snow Lizardman lair.

Alan knew about Snow Lizardmen. Unlike other lizard races that preferred hot weather, these lived in snowy regions—and their levels were around 300.

"I'm not strong enough to go there yet," Alan thought.

He decided to return to Reidan first, level up, and then head there.

"After you return, you will receive your next test," the ghost elder said. They were about to vanish when Alan stopped them.

"Wait!"

"Yes? Do you want something else?" they asked, looking at Alan.

"Why do you always hide things in monster lairs?" Alan asked. "It's as if you assume the one carrying the Albantino legacy would naturally know how to fight."

"You are right. At first, it was not like this," the elders said. "We never hid our rewards anywhere dangerous. However, everything changed after someone named Pagma appeared."

"He became a legend after crafting the legendary gear our ancestors had dreamed of creating. Curious, we tried to understand how he achieved it—and discovered that he was also a great swordsman."

"So we decided to hide the rewards in monster lairs. That way, the successor would be forced to grow stronger."

"And it's not like we didn't leave behind great fighting techniques and powerful weapons for you," they added.

"What fighting technique?" Alan asked with a frown. "All I received was a greatsword—White Lion Dainslief."

"Huh?" The elders looked at him in confusion.

"Oh… yes. We were going to give you one," an elder said, glancing toward a nearby grave. "But we got excited when we saw how even before we told you, you completed a test left by our great ancestor so, we kinda forget"

"Go and dig there. You will get it," he said.

Alan stared at him.

"…You want me to dig your own grave?"

"Don't worry, I have given you the permission what else you want?, besides inside you will find a Book." the elder said calmly. "It contains a fighting art that requires an great amount of dexterity."

"I acquired it from another legend named Kruger. Unlike Pagma, he was not a great swordsman. Instead, he used needle-based combat."

"His needles could kill monsters before they even realized they were attacked. He also fought using threads. His unique fighting style—using needles and strings—made him famous."

"He was known as the Legendary Tailor, once a humble tailor after loosing his family to bandits he understood he need to become stronger and developed his won way of fighting,"
