Chapter 16: He's Actually Beating the Three-Tails Into Submission?

Seeing Yagura prepare to unleash his ultimate technique on Oborotsuki, Konan immediately shouted a warning.

"Get out of the way, Oborotsuki!!"

"That guy is the Three-Tails Jinchūriki!"

"So that's the Three-Tails Jinchūriki…"

Oborotsuki pretended he didn't already know, glancing back at Konan.

"You go first, Konan-senpai!"

With that, he forcefully flung her into the air, letting her use Paper Dance to retreat, while he turned around and slammed the Decapitation Greatsword into the ground.

"Water Style: Water Dragon Barrage!!"

Oborotsuki's hands moved in unison, firing one massive water sphere after another—like cannonballs.

Each sphere rapidly expanded in mid-air, taking on the shape of dragon heads and roaring toward the target.

The sheer size and speed made the attacks devastating—trees and rocks along the path were pulverized effortlessly.

At the same time, enormous volumes of water began gathering around Oborotsuki, quickly forming a small lake.

Watching Oborotsuki unleash such large-scale Water Style once again—and with terrifying power—Konan was once more left stunned.

"This level of chakra… it's already comparable to the Three-Tails itself…"

"What a monster!"

Shocked, Konan flew higher into the sky while observing the battle below.

"ROAR—!"

Yagura, now in full Three-Tails Mode, spat out the completed Tailed Beast Ball.

Whoosh—

The sphere tore through all of Oborotsuki's Water Style attacks in an instant.

The massive dragon heads shattered one after another.

The Tailed Beast Ball was about to break through—when suddenly the ground shook violently.

A nearly hundred-meter-high wall of water erupted from the earth, surging forward like a tsunami.

But it didn't stop there.

Right behind the first colossal wave came a second one—even taller—rising up in perfect succession.

Double tsunamis, apocalyptic in force, roared toward Yagura with unstoppable momentum.

BOOM—

The Tailed Beast Ball collided with the towering double wall in the next instant, triggering a sky-shattering explosion.

In a flash, mountains crumbled, earth split, and thousands of tons of water were blasted apart, turning into torrential rain that poured down everywhere.

After the downpour, the ground was once again flooded, rapidly transforming into a vast sea.

Oborotsuki quietly wiped the cold sweat from his forehead.

He had just burned through nearly half his chakra reserves to create a double Water Style version of "Rashōmon"—barely enough to block the Tailed Beast Ball.

"Damn it… I still underestimated him!"

"In that case…"

Oborotsuki's eyes shifted once more into the swirling Mangekyō pattern.

He leaped high, gripping the Decapitation Greatsword with both hands, and brought it down in a devastating overhead cleave.

At the same time, he activated his Mangekyō power again—effortlessly subduing the rampaging Yagura just as he began gathering a second Tailed Beast Ball, completely disrupting the attack.

Clang—

Oborotsuki struck relentlessly. The greatsword chopped down like a butcher's cleaver, slashing across Yagura's body again and again.

The Tailed Beast cloak blocked most of the damage—each hit felt like striking steel.

Even so, superficial wounds healed almost instantly.

But Yagura was now completely on the receiving end—being utterly dominated by Oborotsuki.

From a distance, Konan—her paper wings damp and struggling to keep her aloft—watched the scene in utter disbelief.

"That's… the Three-Tails Jinchūriki!"

"And Oborotsuki is… completely overpowering him?"

She was dumbfounded.

She never imagined Oborotsuki could be this strong!

Finally, after a brutal barrage, Oborotsuki defeated Yagura without surprise.

The Tailed Beast cloak was shredded and broken. Yagura collapsed to the ground, barely breathing.

But Oborotsuki himself was nearing his limit.

He couldn't reveal too much of his full power in front of Konan—otherwise, it would be hard to explain.

Otherwise, the fight could have ended much more easily.

"Since that guy is the Three-Tails, should we capture him while we're at it, Konan-senpai?"

Oborotsuki returned to her side casually and asked.

"No need! We leave now!"

"Enemy reinforcements are coming!"

Konan refused immediately.

Yagura had always been under "Uchiha Madara's" control. "Madara" knew he was the Three-Tails Jinchūriki.

Since there had been no order to capture the beast yet, there was no need to act on their own.

Moreover, Konan had seen more Kirigakure ninjas approaching from the air.

She could also tell Oborotsuki was close to exhaustion, and her own Paper Dance had been heavily compromised by the water—her combat power severely reduced.

Retreat was the only sensible option.

"Alright, Konan-senpai. Let's go!"

Oborotsuki wasted no time. He grabbed her hand and fled the battlefield.

He had already released the genjutsu on Yagura.

Obito could never know this was his doing.

Because Obito had no idea Oborotsuki also possessed the Sharingan—let alone the Mangekyō.

With his consciousness restored, Yagura would no longer carry out the brutal Bloody Mist regime.

Let Obito deal with the headache himself!

After pulling Konan away from the battlefield and shaking off all pursuers, Oborotsuki finally noticed she was injured.

Without a word, he stepped forward, took bandages from his pouch, and carefully wrapped her wounds.

His focused, serious movements made Konan's heart flutter—her gaze turning slightly dazed.

"The injury isn't serious, Konan-senpai. It'll heal in a few days."

"But I really didn't expect the Fourth Mizukage himself to show up. This mission was far more dangerous than any before…"

"We should leave this country first."

Oborotsuki murmured, helping her to her feet and heading toward the docks.

Seeing that he still hadn't realized how suspicious the mission had been, Konan felt a pang of guilt.

Several times she almost revealed the secret about "Uchiha Madara"… but each time she held back.

"After this test, Madara should finally trust Oborotsuki completely."

"But this time… he really went too far…"

Konan hadn't expected "Madara" to send the Fourth Mizukage personally.

If Oborotsuki hadn't been strong enough to repel the enemies and defeat Yagura, both of them might have died here.

Dissatisfied in her heart, Konan silently followed Oborotsuki back toward headquarters.
