Chapter 10 - Chapter 10: The Broken Wall, The Dead Troll

After the Professors unanimously decided to stop recommending extra reading books to Lynn, she eventually diverted that portion of her energy to other study projects, just as Madam Pince had expected.

Amidst her frantic studying, the students of Hogwarts finally welcomed Halloween.

Waking up on time at her usual hour, Lynn smelled the ubiquitous scent of pumpkin in the air while sitting at her desk reading.

After the thought that today was Halloween flashed through her mind, she continued to read without any distraction.

The arrival of the holiday made the Young Wizards a bit more excited during class, specifically manifesting in their inability to sit still.

It reached the point where Professor McGonagall had to put on a stern face to keep the excited students under control.

Under these circumstances, when her gaze passed over Lynn again—who remained calm and completely unaffected by the holiday atmosphere—she couldn't help but be moved once more by the child's dedication to her studies.

After finishing the morning Transfiguration class, Lynn packed her bag and walked quickly out of the Transfiguration classroom, heading straight for the Great Hall.

Sitting precisely in her usual spot, Lynn picked up food with her knife and fork and put it in her mouth without even looking.

While she was eating rapidly, the conversation of two passing Gryffindor Little Lions reached her ears.

"Yeah, Granger was brought to tears by Weasley. She's crying in the girls' washroom on the first floor basement, and she won't let anyone comfort her."

"Merlin... although Granger is indeed a bit... special, making her cry is still... a bit ungentlemanly."

Hearing the conversation of the two Little Lions, Lynn's hand, which never paused while eating, stuttered slightly, then continued eating rapidly as if she had finished loading.

Hermione was brought to tears; in her emotionless brain, she only reached this one conclusion.

She didn't even feel that perhaps she should go comfort the other person.

After finishing lunch, Lynn headed straight to the History of Magic Class, where she read books borrowed from the Library with great focus.

In the afternoon, listening to Professor Binns' voice—which was as flat as a straight line, emotionless, and sleep-inducing—Lynn took class notes rapidly.

Compared to other students, she didn't think there was anything wrong with how Professor Binns spoke, nor did it make her feel sleepy.

Of course, this might be because she spoke the same way and therefore didn't get sleepy.

If Lynn had no reaction to hearing that Hermione was crying in the girls' washroom on the first floor basement during lunch...

Then hearing it again during the Halloween feast, Lynn clearly felt her heart buzz.

It was as if it were telling her she should do something, but what should she do?

Lynn couldn't figure it out; she didn't know. She could solve very difficult math problems, but she really didn't know what her heart wanted her to do at this moment.

Since Hermione was crying, maybe... let her wipe her tears, or wash her face?

Lynn's eating movements didn't stop, and her mind kept thinking.

Just as she finished dinner in three and a half minutes and was about to leave the Great Hall, a loud bang sounded as the doors were thrown open.

Professor Quirrell, wrapped in a large turban, came stumbling in and shouted to Headmaster Dumbledore at the Staff Table.

"Troll! In the dungeons—thought you ought to know..." Then he collapsed directly onto the floor.

The Great Hall was silent for two seconds. After that, almost all the Young Wizards stood up in terror, screaming as if a Troll waving a giant club was right in front of them about to smash them into meat paste.

Lynn looked indifferently at the terrified Young Wizards and stood up to pack her bag without any reaction.

Just as she put on her bag, a low, authoritative, and soothing old voice rang out.

"Silence!"

The Great Hall instantly fell silent. Headmaster Dumbledore's voice reminded the Young Wizards that they were in the Great Hall, and many Professors and Headmaster Dumbledore were present.

Let alone one Troll, even if a group of Trolls came, they would be safe.

Headmaster Dumbledore surveyed the four houses and quickly made arrangements.

"Prefects, lead your house students back to the common rooms. Professors, follow me."

Lynn followed the Ravenclaws to the Prefect, preparing to return to the common room as Headmaster Dumbledore said.

However, before she could settle, a thought suddenly appeared in her brain, disrupting her steps.

Hermione is still in the girls' washroom on the first floor basement. She doesn't know about the Troll yet. She might encounter the Troll.

Three factual situations appeared clearly in Lynn's mind, causing her steps to quicken again and quickly turn to the side.

In fact, her heart was still as calm as well water. The reason she decided to find Hermione was the same as when she saved Neville.

It was just obeying the instinct to help others when she had the ability.

The difference was that helping Hermione this time would violate Headmaster Dumbledore's order for everyone to return to the common rooms.

Lynn strode out of the Great Hall, her right hand touching her left arm which still had bruises.

Because Professor Snape had never given her full marks in Potion Class, she had to punish herself basically after every Potion Class ended.

More importantly, after the last punishment was discovered by the girl Prefect Penelope, Penelope would really look at her face every day to confirm she wasn't punishing herself anymore.

Therefore, she could only put the punishment on her arm, which resulted in the bruises on her arm never completely fading.

She pinched a small piece of flesh hard and gave it a quick twist; another bruise was added to Lynn's left arm.

But now she could go to the girls' washroom on the first floor basement without burden. She had already been punished, so she could violate the rules.

Bang!

Reaching out to quickly push open the door, Lynn stepped into the washroom. Following the sound of a few sniffles, she walked to the door of a cubicle and knocked.

"Who is it?" Hermione's muffled voice came from inside the cubicle. Because she had been crying for a long time, her voice sounded a bit soft.

"Lynn," Lynn replied in an emotionless tone.

The cubicle door was quickly opened, and Hermione walked out, pursing her lips, and hugged Lynn.

The feeling that she really had no friends was slowly broken.

"Weasley... said I'm a nightmare, that no one would want to be friends with me..."

Lynn stood there blankly, not hugging Hermione back, and spoke mechanically.

"You are a person, not a nightmare."

"Pfft..." Hermione chuckled softly. "Are you trying to make me happy?"

Lynn replied flatly, "No, I am stating a fact."

Hermione laughed softly for a while while holding Lynn, then remembered something, let go of Lynn, and looked at her.

"By the way, why did you come here?"

Lynn watched as Hermione wiped the tear stains from her face and spoke in a flat tone, "Professor Quirrell shouted that there's a Troll during the feast. You didn't know, so I came to find you."

Hermione's hand wiping her face stopped abruptly. She widened her eyes and looked at Lynn in disbelief.

"A-a Troll? In Hogwarts?!"

"Yes," Lynn nodded calmly.

Hermione took a deep breath, trying to calm herself down. She stepped forward, took Lynn's left hand, and walked toward the door.

"Let's go, quickly back to the common room, or find a Professor."

Lynn followed her toward the door. However, whether it was the giant footsteps she heard or the foul smell lingering in her nose, Lynn understood that they probably wouldn't make it back to the common room or find a Professor.

Because these two things combined were enough for her to reach a conclusion: the Troll had arrived.

"Too late," Lynn said flatly, pulling Hermione behind her with force. Then the two of them saw the Troll slowly walking into the girls' washroom, and the door slammed shut with a bang.

Hermione covered her cheeks in terror and despair. Having not experienced much, she was too panicked now to think of any solution.

Only one thought was in her mind: It's over... I've dragged Lynn down. The only person willing to be my friend has been dragged down by me.

If she hadn't come to find me, Lynn definitely wouldn't have come here. If she hadn't come here, she wouldn't have encountered the Troll. If she hadn't encountered the Troll, she wouldn't die... "I'm not dead yet, and neither are you." Lynn stood in front of Hermione, looking at the Troll expressionlessly.

Did I say my thoughts out loud? Hermione snapped back to her senses and looked at Lynn in front of her. Just as she was about to pull her to the side to run, she saw the Troll had already raised its giant wooden club.

Before the Troll could make its next move, and before Hermione could pull her to the side, Lynn took the lead and raised her wand.

The incantation left her mouth. The ceiling above the Troll's head was instantly twisted by the Transfiguration Spell, forming a protrusion that dropped down and wrapped around the Troll's club, making it impossible to move.

The none-too-bright Troll looked up in confusion. At the same time, the washroom door was opened, and Harry and Ron appeared at the door.

"Hey! Big dummy!"

"Look at me, you idiot!"

As soon as they opened the door, the two shouted loudly to attract the Troll's attention, gesturing for Lynn and Hermione to run over quickly.

Seeing the Troll, which had lost its club and entered a state of rage, turn toward Harry and Ron, Lynn waved her wand without any fluctuation in her voice, pointing at the outer wall of the girls' washroom.

"Wingardium Leviosa."

The other three, not understanding, turned their gazes toward Lynn, unable to fathom what she was doing casting the Levitation Charm on a wall.

Crack... crack. The sound of breaking continued to ring out. Soon, the other three present knew what Lynn was doing.

The entire outer wall of the girls' washroom was torn off by Lynn using the Levitation Charm with a loud crash, and she controlled it to move between herself and the Troll.

The Troll, attracted by the loud noise, turned around again, but only saw an abrupt wall in front of it. Where were the two small prey that were behind it just now?

Its small brain tried in vain to think—this was also the last thinking it would ever do in its life.

"Merlin..." Amidst Hermione's exclamation, Lynn flicked her wand forward, and the wall she was controlling slammed hard into the Troll.

Seeing this, Harry and Ron immediately made a decision to cover their heads and dive toward the outside of the washroom.

The next moment, boom! A sound louder than the one when she tore down the wall echoed throughout the entire basement, making the Professors and Headmaster Dumbledore, who were running here, frown instantly.

As the dust settled, Lynn's eyes were indifferent as she looked ahead. The wall she had controlled with the Levitation Charm had shattered into bricks, scattered across the Troll's body.

The Troll lay on the ground, large amounts of blood flowing from its body and head; it was clearly a corpse.

The impact was so powerful that even the wall behind the Troll had shattered.

Lynn looked at the lifeless Troll and slowly lowered her right hand holding the wand.

Her expression remained as calm as still water, looking as if she were under no pressure, if one ignored her current heavy breathing and sweat-drenched face.

Hogwarts' walls are protected by magic, making them resistant to magic and physical impact.

When she tore down the wall with the Levitation Charm earlier, she felt extremely great resistance, let alone later when she increased her magic output to strengthen her Levitation Charm, to the point that while crushing the Troll, she destroyed another wall.

Harry and Ron, buried in dust, only dared to sit up slowly and look around cautiously once they felt the surroundings were calm.

Dust and broken bricks were everywhere. This area was now like a ruin, not to mention the Troll's corpse covered in bricks lying in the girls' washroom exposed by the torn wall.

The two boys slowly turned their heads and looked at Lynn with terrified eyes. They felt as if they had lost the ability to speak, unable to say a word.

They unconsciously felt a sense of fear toward Lynn, along with some admiration.

Hermione also swallowed her saliva and looked at the back in front of her. However, there was no fear in her eyes, only admiration and adoration.

She had only felt this way before when looking at the Professors.

"Merlin's beard..." Speaking of the Professors, they arrived. The Professors who came running were all stunned when they saw this scene.

Professor McGonagall even raised her hand to her mouth and let out a gasp.

Professor Flitwick's mouth hung open as he looked at the scene, Professor Sprout looked on in shock, and even Professor Snape felt speechless for a moment.

In the room, only Headmaster Dumbledore, after observing the scene, fixed his gaze on Lynn, who was standing in front of Hermione.

Professor Quirrell did the same, his fingers twitching slightly, and a hint of dark glint seemed to flash in his eyes.

Taking a deep breath, Professor McGonagall was the first to snap back to her senses, turning to look at Harry and Ron, who were still sitting on the ground staring blankly at Lynn.

"Mr. Potter, Mr. Weasley, can you explain exactly what happened here?"
