Chapter 53 - Potential Man

Entering the gate of Tokyo Jujutsu High, Akira had his hands in his pockets while looking around with interest.

Now that the higher-ups have been killed and replaced by trustworthy people, the usually absent school grounds actually have people walking them.

The Jujutsu Sorcerers that are always out and never in here actually came back, taking missions from Yaga, Nanami and Gakuganji. And this time, those missions do not send them to their deaths under the flag of "It's for the greater good."

Instead, they actually get given missions for their rank.

After all, the higher-ups did not really care for their lives.

If someone had obvious negative views about them and had no strength or cursed technique to back them up, they were sent on death missions to be killed off.

That's why the number of sorcerers in Japan is less than 1,000.

Many individuals who become jujutsu sorcerers awaken cursed energy in life-threatening situations, such as natural attacks by cursed spirits or serious accidents.

Those people were not born into sorcerer clans and brainwashed from birth. They are normal people who grew up normally, as civilians.

These civilians with normal thoughts would obviously not agree with the way the higher-ups or the major clans function in the jujutsu society. To not have their control threatened, the higher-ups send them to their deaths.

It's why the death rate for sorcerers is that high.

"Finally, this massive estate feels like an actual school for the supernatural instead of a graveyard," Akira muttered as he watched other sorcerers leave the gate for missions.

With a peaceful smile, Akira swaggered into the dorms of the females. Even though people live here now, the female sorcerers still account for less than a third of all total sorcerers.

Most of the female dorms were still empty.

Entering the dorms, Akira went straight for the last room. Akira hesitated for a second before reaching up and knocking on it. The moment he knocked on the door, Yuka opened it.

Yuka looked through the gap of the door, her gaze cold and distant as she gazes at Akira. Her eyes tracked every inch of his body, her nose twitching as she sniffed the air.

"Yuka?" Akira looked at Yuka's actions with confusion, his call gaining Yuka's attention. To his surprise, she looked at him wiht anger, her face filled with sadness and disappointment.

"What do you want, Akira? I thought you were gone with your new girlfriend?" Yuka spoke in a cold and accusatory tone, her single eye peering through the door with an eerie feeling.

Akira could no help but feel a slight amount of guilt at Yuka's words, and he couldn't even refuse her words since everything she just said was practically true.

"Yuka... I know, I know, I messed up. I need to talk to you. I don't want our relationship to sour," Akira looked down at the floor, his face cracking into guilt as he spoke.

Peeking through the door, Yuka watched Akira's face, her heart clenching in her chest before a sigh of acceptance ripped through her mouth. With a slow move, she opened her door, moving aside to let Akira inside her dorm room.

"Maki already told me... And I won't blame you since they didn't die thanks to what you did... But it doesn't mean I like it," Yuka called out to Akira as she turned and walked into her room, leaving the door open.

Akira looked up with joy at Yuka opening the door. Instantly, Akira moved into the room, hope burning in his chest as he watched Yuka's expressions.

Meanwhile...

Outside the doors, and in the distant training ground. Gojo rushed past Megumi Fushiguro with speed, a teasing grin on his face as his fist landed straight into Megumi's sternum, knocking the breath out of him.

Clap!

Moving through the intense pain, Megumi clapped his palms together in a wolf's head shape, the shadows under him distorting as two wolves shot out, their maws wide open, and a fierce expression on their face.

Growl!

"Aww, such cuties~," Gojo chuckled as he dodged the lunging wolves, while ducking as a kick from Megumi flew over his head. With a slight turn, he hit Megumi in the stomach with an elbow.

"Ugh!" Megumi felt his sight get dazed as spit flew out from his wide mouth. A shockwave of air passed through behind him, blowing Megumi back like a rocket.

Boom!

Megumi gasped in pain as he bounced up and down on the hard ground for ten meters, cracking the ground from the force of the hit. Gojo watched with an amused grin as Megumi came to a stop.

"Megumi, why do I keep having to tell you this same thing every time we train? I told you to use your brain and technique better," Gojo walked over to Megumi with a sigh, his hands in his pocket as he leaned over Megumi, locking eyes.

"What do you think I am doing? You, blue albino, looking wizard," Megumi clicked his tongue in annoyance as he slowly sat up, clutching his stomach in pain.

"Blue albino looking, wizard? Hmmm, I feel like I heard that form somewhere..." Gojo scratched his chin in confusion as he looked at Megumi, who slowly started to overlap with a certain green-haired girl.

'Ha! I guess there is still Zenin blood in their veins~.'

"Anyway, why do you not think to use your shadow manipulation in a fight? It can mask your next actions, confuse people, or hide you. Granted, it wouldn't matter in front of me, but it would work on the others~,"

Gojo spoke in a teasing voice as he watched Megumi get up from the floor, a glint in his eyes as he suddenly attacked Gojo from behind. A claw swiped out from under Gojo's shadow, going for his back.

Gojo smirked, looking at the dog attacking from behind. He reached back, catching the claw in his hand before throwing it at Megumi, knocking him even further away.

"Come on, kid. This was the most obvious shit you could have done. Especially since I was talking about this," Gojo shook his head as he walked over to Megumi.

"If you wanna participate in the Goodwill event this year, a month away from now, then you need to get a bit stronger~," Gojo informed Megumi, who lay on his back, a hand over his eyes to stop the sun from shining down on him.

"Plus, at this rate, you're never going to achieve your full potential," Goji continued.

Hearing the word Godwill, Megumi looked up at Gojo in confusion. He had only been a sorcerer for a month, so he didn't know about the goodwill event.

"What is the goodwill event?" Megumi asked, and Gojo hummed at his question.

"Well, I don't know if I want you to know before it arrives... Eh, whatever, it's not going to be exciting with how many monsters are on the Tokyo team, so might as well tell you," Gojo sat down, creating infinite space underneath him to act as a chair.

"Listen up! The goodwill event is held every year by Tokyo and Kyoto. They have two competitions to do, and whoever wins gets bragging rights for the year~," Gojo finished with a happy clap as he got up, looking behind him.

"Oh, and you should meet your seniors as well~"

Megumi got up from the floor to look behind, noticing Akira, Yuka, Maki, Panda and Inumaki walking towards the training ground.

Don't worry, guys, the canon is about to start very soon. This was all just the backstory for our mc~

Also, tell me if you guys want Megumi to actually live up to the name of potential man this time, or still be taken over by Sukuna. Not gonna lie. I havign thoughts of having Sukuna stay in Yuji's body.

Imagine a full-powered Sukuna wiht Yuji's busted body and physical strength, not gonna lie.

I believe Sukuna is stronger in Yuji than in Megumi, primarily because, aside from Mahoraga and Totality, the 10 Shadows technique does not directly enhance Sukuna's power. While in Yuji, he has the potential to unlock the Anti-Gravity System, or even Blood Manipulation if he manages to eat Choso's brothers, plus his monstrous body.

Leave a Power Stone!
