Chapter 5 - Kaori Itadori

[On the outskirts of the Rural Town...]

Swoosh!

Akira was a pure blur as he ran circles around the town at a speed faster than a sports car. His hair whipped in the air, now slightly longer than before, reaching his ears.

Sweat slid down his flawless skin, his breathing controlled and without any rapid bursts that made him lose stamina needlessly. Every step and turn he took was perfect.

It had been half a year since Akira had taken it upon himself to kill those gangsters in that alley. And ever since then, Akira had been training his body to become stronger, faster, more... Perfect.

Of course, Akira also realised that he was basically born with a body and talent designed for fighting, as if he were a god of war, meant to fight, not tyre, and certainly not lose.

Akira is training in various skills and fighting styles with Nobara's assistance, or rather, phone, because Akira would hate himself if he wasted such a talent.

Using her phone, Akira was able to watch online videos on YouTube, copying and then optimising and improving those fighting styles to suit himself.

Of course, he didn't suddenly develop some world-ending fighting style, or at least he didn't think he did, because he was sure there were some things in this world, especially with those creatures roaming around.

He had been fighting... Or more accurately, to say, feeling the strengths of those creatures around him, and then using his Image Fighting ability to imagine the creatures as opponents that Akira would fight.

And supernaturally, those fights were actually real, since whenever Akira was launched from an attack, it would be real, and every wound he sustained needed time to heal.

It was an absurd ability for training, and especially for someone with talent like Akira's. Using this ability, Akira had become stronger in half a year, honing his skills and increasing his physical prowess.

Of course, that's not the main focus right now, but instead...

Boom!

Akira jumped into the air with a slight hop, his figure tearing through the air as he fist cooked back, ready for a punch. With a groan, Akira's fist ripped through the air, creating a sonic boom.

Boom!

The fist crunched into the ground like a missile, caving it as if it was soft mud, and punching a five-meter-wide crater into the ground, with cracks spreading out like webs.

"Damn it! I fucking can't hit them no matter what I try to do!"

"Ahh!"

Boom!

Akira stood up with a shout of frustration, stomping the ground in annoyance, creating a crater.

"Do I need to possess that energy to be capable of hitting them?" Akira talked to himself wiht frustration.

Ever since Akira sensed these weird creatures, he's been trying to find ways to touch or hurt them, but it was all useless. They felt as if they were made from energy, and his punches did absolutely nothing.

Turning around. Akira started walking back towards the town, deciding to forget it since it seems like he can't punch or hurt those thigns anyway, so he might as well leave it be.

It's not like they're targeting him or something.

While Akira was walking towards the town with his hands in his pockets, a woman wearing a one-piece black dress that formed around her curves, passed him, with a healed scar visible on her forehead.

Akira gave her a passing glance before looking away from her. He didn't wanna seem rude, staring at her scar like a creep. Though his instinct did tell him something about the women was wrong, and...

She was hot...

"Interesting... Such a strong body, and at such a young age... Could it be a Heavenly Restriction?... No, he still has cursed energy," The woman stopped before the crater formed from Akira's punch, muttering to herself quietly once Akira was out of sight.

"But I just scanned his brain, and I didn't sense the part that contains a cursed technique... And his cursed energy is too small to be a sorcerer," the woman muttered with confusion, a hint of twisted awe creeping onto her face.

"If someone like that was able to awaken a cursed technique...Seems like I have to put him into my plan, maybe even form a binding vow to have him participate in the Culling Games in the future..."

The woman was called Kaori Itadori.

In actuality, that woman's body was inhabited by an ancient, cursed user. whose real name is Kenjaku, muttered to herself before fading from the area, as if she turned to smoke.

Meanwhile...

Back in his room, AKira leaned against his room wall, his skin dry and his hair slightly wet from the shower he had just taken a second ago, wearing only shorts as he closed his eyes.

In his hands was a set of papers, showing the end-of-year results from his exams, something that he had finished a month ago, and now was getting the papers back.

There were papers on Japanese, Maths, Science, Calligraphy, English, and Fitness, with each paper scoring a perfect 100 out of 100. The fitness paper included a note from his fitness teacher.

On it read," Kid, when you come back to school, I wanna have a meeting with you about your future, especially your physical talent in sports, such as boxing."

Akira also wanted this, as he had already decided what his future would be, and it certainly was not going to involve working a nine-to-five or becoming a CEO.

He would rather become a professional Boxer and make a couple of hundred million dollars from fighting than retire with all that money and live in a rural town for the rest of his time, eating and training as a spare hobby.

Perfect life for someone like him.

Akira looked up, a tiny pebble striking the window of his apartment. He stood up and went to the window, looking out at Nobara, who was waving at him with a grin.

"Come on out, you bum! You promised to come with me to play!" Nobara's loud voice was heard in the entire building, and Akira groaned while rubbing his head before nodding.

Looking through the walls, Akira noted that his mother was still outside, probably looking for her next customer, so he could go and kill time instead of staying home and having to listen...

He wasn't into listening to the sounds of his mom getting clasped by strangers, so he would rather hang out with Noabara.

"Wait a second, I need to dress," Akira replied to Nobara, turning around and picking up a black hoodie, baggy black pants, and some old sneakers before opening the window and jumping out.

Swoosh!

Akira stepped onto the ground from the air, and Noabara's eyes lit up in excitement as she rushed at him, taking his hand and then dragging him towards wherever.

"Come on! We need to go towards the river! I heard that there's going to be a competition to see who catches the most fish!"

Nobara explained while looking back at Akira, who merely sighed at her enthusiasm.

But he couldn't muster up any of it for himself.

Kenjaku is in the building!

Kenjaku is currently still in Kaori's body, wandering around Japan and scouting people who are suitable for awakening cursed techniques and participating in the culling games.

He set his eyes on Akira.
