Chapter 44 - Chapter 44 : The Great Unclean One - Ku'gath

Realizing the dire situation, the Players rushed at top speed to the source of the Warp psychic burst.

Along the way, rebel soldiers tried to stop them.

But those guys were like praying mantises trying to stop a chariot, easily crushed by the Player squads in their exoskeletons.

Fighting their way through, Tenjiro and the other Players finally reached the area of the psychic burst.

"It's over there."

Sea Turtle, with his implanted sensory prosthetics, spotted the target at a glance.

It was an altar covered with corpses and skulls.

Fourteen Psyker stood around the altar, chanting prayers in praise of Father Nurgle.

Three priests presided over the sacrificial ritual on the altar.

"Stop them, the Warp is becoming more and more active, the ritual is about to be completed."

As a psyker, Tenjiro was extremely sensitive to the flow of Warp energy.

He could sense the ravenous screams of those daemons from behind the veil of Holy Terra (Earth/Reality).

There were many Cultists around the altar.

When they saw the Players, they all let out insane roars.

They charged at the Players in droves.

"Traitors deserve to die."

The Bald Donkey shouted.

The machine gun mounted on his exoskeleton armor rotated, firing at the Cultists.

Amidst the dense gunfire, the charging Cultists fell like weeds.

Some fanatics, braving the fierce firepower, rushed to the Players' front.

But before they could do anything, they were cut open by sharp chainswords and circular saws.

The Players, relying on the overwhelming advantage of their exoskeleton armor, forcibly tore open a gap in the Cultist horde.

The fourteen Psyker, exhausted from maintaining the ritual, were powerless against the Players and were shot dead on the spot.

But the ritual did not stop.

The three priests on the altar were still guiding the ritual.

They had shields on them, and Cultists fearlessly blocked bullets for them.

"If ranged attacks don't work, then go melee. Cover me."

Twisted person opened his exoskeleton's protective plate and jumped out of the cockpit.

He activated the mantis blades on his wrist and charged towards the three priests on the altar.

"Cover Twisted person."

Tenjiro condensed Warp energy and violently crushed the heads of the enemies on the altar.

The others also provided fire support, preventing rebels and Cultists from approaching the altar.

After a fierce battle, there were no more enemies in front of Twisted person.

He walked over and, with one strike each, directly slew two priests.

Then, he pierced the chest of the last priest with another strike.

The opponent turned to look at Twisted person, coughing blood and laughing.

"You're too late, we've already succeeded."

"Seven plagues, seven curses, seven blessings, seven destinies, seven sacrifices, seven prayers, seven responses."

"Father Nurgle's angel will soon descend and bestow blessings upon this world."

"Madman." Twisted person pulled out his mantis blades, and putrid blood gushed out.

At this moment, the altar also erupted with an even more ferocious surge of Warp energy.

Twisted person and the corpses were all sent flying by this energy, heavily crashing into the ruins.

The space at the altar twisted and flickered.

Eerie light converged into a kaleidoscope-like vortex.

The ground became putrid.

Wet, slimy moss and rotten vines rapidly grew from the dilapidated ruins.

Then, swarms of black flies flew out.

The fly swarms blotted out the sky, dyeing the firmament a murky, dim black.

Every fly was extremely fat and shiny black.

They had three blood-red circles on their bodies, representing Nurgle's blessing.

Then came the Nurglings.

Their numbers were vast, no less than the fly swarms, cackling with what looked like joy.

Next were the lesser Nurgle daemons, the Plaguebearers.

They trampled over the Nurglings on the ground, raising rotten banners, forming a troop of seven hundred and seventy-seven.

Then, countless Nurglings carried out a rotting palanquin.

A Great Unclean One sat on the palanquin.

It had a corpulent body, swaying constantly on the palanquin.

Intestines dangled from a rotten gap in its abdomen.

Unlike the Nurglings and Plaguebearers, it wasn't happy, but rather had a melancholic expression.

Tenjiro and the other Players looked at the Nurgle daemon army emerging from the Warp rift, and they were all stunned.

"Damn it! A Great Unclean One, this is unscientific!"

"Can a sacrifice from a group of mortals summon a Great Unclean One?"

"Normally, it would be extremely heaven-defying for a mortal sacrifice to summon a group of Nurgle Heralds."

"That was before. Now that the Eye of Terror has torn open, is it strange for mortals to summon a Great Unclean One?"

"If that moth came over, even that fat guy's garden could be summoned."

"..."

Tenjiro recognized the Great Unclean One's identity from its features.

"This guy seems to be Ku'gath, the Nurgling who became a daemon. This is a Greater Daemon, I feel like the developers are targeting us."

"Don't worry about who it is, hurry to the Titan planet and ask the Grey Knights." Little Fatty sprayed at the daemon horde.

"Now is not the time for jokes, quickly have the Guide use orbital bombardment, or we're all doomed."

Twisted person, who had climbed out of the ruins, limped to join the battle.

Tenjiro shook his head, "Calling for orbital bombardment is useless now. A Great Unclean One has appeared, at least an Exterminatus is needed."

Little Fatty unleashed firepower on the daemons, turning Nurglings and fly swarms into mush.

"It looks like we're all going to be wiped out here this time. I just don't know if Planet Atoma can be saved."

"I think we'll probably have to change worlds." Twisted person was a bit pessimistic.

"It's Ku'gath on the other side, we have no chance of winning."

The active Players on the battlefield rushed over.

Relying on the furious firepower of their exoskeletons to build a defense line, they barely managed to contain the daemon expansion.

However, no matter how many they struck down, more daemons would always surge forward.

Griffin and Aying's forces also quickly arrived.

They quickly organized themselves and joined the Players in resisting the daemon offensive.

"Praise Father Nurgle."

Ku'gath looked at this world and sincerely exclaimed.

Father Nurgle would surely be pleased to transform this world into a garden.

Just then, a whistling sound rang out, and several missiles flew in, landing on Ku'gath.

The explosion's flames enveloped Ku'gath, but it wasn't much harmed, though it was enraged.

"Ignorant followers of the Emperor, you truly have no manners."

"Give up worshipping that rotting corpse, and join Father Nurgle's embrace."

More missiles and lasers were its answer.

"Alright, since you are so stubborn, then don't blame me."

Ku'gath took a flask containing diseases from its palanquin frame,

and threw it at the Imperial soldiers and Players,

causing them to rot and die.

Even steel could not stop the plague in the flask.

Various vehicles rapidly mutated, growing writhing flesh, and turned to attack the soldiers and Players.

Ku'gath also projected Warp energy spears from its sticky fingers, which exploded into a foul blood mist after piercing through soldiers' chests;

It opened its mouth and spewed a wind of plague, causing ceramite armor to disintegrate in corrosion, and flesh to melt and drip like wax.

No one could stop it.

A Great Unclean One was already a despair-inducing nightmare.

And Ku'gath was much stronger than an ordinary Great Unclean One.

It was simply not something the Players at this stage could deal with.

As everyone fell into despair, the roar of Valkyrie aircraft engines sounded in the sky.

Dense bolter rounds and beams poured down, alleviating the pressure on the ground forces.

Then the Hatch opened.

Heavily armored giants jumped directly from the Valkyrie.

With a boom, shocking cracks appeared on the ground.

Seeing the newcomers, Ku'gath and many Nurgle daemons widened their eyes.

This size, this oppressive feeling, and such powerful blessings on their bodies.

When did The Cursed Ones create new Primarchs??

"Go back, daemon."

The Holy Judgement Blade in Alex's hand erupted with a bright glow.

He let out a roar, boosting the soldiers' courage, while also raising his hand to bestow blessings.

Golden light burst forth, restoring the Imperial soldiers' and Players' stamina and spirit.

"You should join Father Nurgle's family."

"Then you will receive more blessings and become even stronger."

Ku'gath raised his rusty, slimy sword and tried to persuade Alex.

PS: Here Ku'gath for you.
