" Do you see that girl , she has a huge crush on our son."
"Is that so , I didn't notice that." said Cedar with shocked expression.
" What I can expect from you? You took years to understand the all signs, I was giving to you that time." Selena started to talk about all the incidents where Cedar was clueless about relationship and love. Cedar only nodded and hummed between the conversation so he would not get another lecture for not being attentive to her talk.
" What if she confesses to our son and he accepts it. He would not forget his mother after getting his new girlfriend right ? " Selena almost immigined every scenario where her son walked away from her with his girlfriend after saying goodbye to her
" You are thinking to much honey, our son is way young than those children and as for John, he is very intelligent just like you."
After talking for a while Cedar gave a forehead kiss to Selena and wished good night.
The next day ,
Inside the regular house of the recidanal area. It was a time where night was just turning in a day. Max woke up early and got ready for the big day .
" Dad , wake up today is the day." Max father was still asleep as usual in his bedroom.
" Hmm .. it will start after nine o'clock, you should get some sleep and let me sleep to."
" Come on dad , everyone will arrive early for registration or if we don't hurry I will get the last number to get assessed by the priest."
" Wouldn't that be better, you will shine like hero after getting the best score."
Max immigined himself going last for the assessment, everyone looking at him with anticipation for the last candidate to get assessed. How will it turn out? But he insntaly turned down these down this thoughts and spoke
" I don't have patience to weight that long , I need to know what will be my result as soon as possible."
" Okay, give me sometime to get ready."
" Get ready early or we will leave you behind."
Max and Sienna left the home with their with their dad towards the church of the city. The church of city was located on the east side of the city. It was a triangle shaped building with a cross on top of it. It was designed such way that the first light of the sun would fall on the cross rather than any other part of city.
" See , everyone has already arrived and the registration has already started , I better line up or it will get only more crowded."
The front space of the church had become crowded with children and their parents. Few guards were stationed to maintain the public.
Paul looked around him observing the buildings and people that didn't existed or present just few days ago. Something was out of the place or it felt like he was still but everything around him was changing in austoning speed.
" I don't remember having this many people living in the same city with us and where did this many children came from ?." said Paul.
" What are you talking dad ? I know almost all of them by their names and where they live. said Max but something clicked in his mind as he got suprised and sai, " But I don't remember meeting even half of them. "
Somewhere in snow mountains,
"Hmm . It seems my spell got little galiched , I better resolve it sooner before anyone else might also gets out of the spell."
" It's done, now there should not be any problem."
The frost dragon who had controlled this whole region , she had controlled the mind of people living in it without making them exposed to the outer world. Anyone who were exposed to the outer world were monitored by her spell. The spell would work as a detecter to find every individual who wants to enter and exit. The spell also works as a upholder as it ulters the memories of every individual who enters or exits.
The frost dragon closed her eyes and submerged in the lava as one thought stil lingering in her mind , that why in the first place she never wanted to change the region and wanted to let it stay in same condition for thousand years. If that was not enough , she didn't wanted to let her region influenced by the outer world.
But there was something more ammusing as a child who met her the first time and overcame the spell. He didn't just overcame the spell but also made her realise what she was doing.
Many reasons came in her mind for the cause. the first reason she came up with was , she always liked to observe other lifeforms. Did she wanted to watch , if there will be someone who might overcome it , and she dismissed it immediately as she thought that it was not her style.
The second reason she came up with was , Did I wanted to compare two complete different scenarios , to observe the difference between how humans with constant advancement and people who still lived in past , acted and aproched different situations.
It might be true at some point as she didn't casted the spell on Engrasia city as it was completely unaffected by it. It is one of the most highly advanced and poppuled city of the whole continent.
It might be one of the few reasons she came up with or it might have lead by multiple reasons. Or it might not have been none of the reasons she thought.
Dragons live a long life that can outlive multiple civilization , it might become burdensome Because brains are optimized to retain only what is useful for survival. Instead of hoarding every detail, their brains actively discard obsolete memories to stay adaptable and to make room for new and relevant memories.
Back to the front space of church ,
" Why both of you are still talking ? Max , you should hurry or else I don't want stand here and wait until afternoon."
Max didn't waste any time after being reminded by his sister as he lined up for registration.
A boy appeared near both Father and daughter , he was out of the breath , he was little bent on front side and used both of his hands to support the body by putting them on knees.
" You are late. He allready went to lineup." said Seinns as she watched Curt catching breath.
" It's okay, it hasn't started yet. He will be back in few minutes after getting his token." said Paul and also gave a soft scolding to Sienna that she should not talk to others in rude tone.
Sienna apologized to Curt after understanding her mistake , in which Curt care free laugh.
The three of them talked each other for few minutes. Max returned after completing his registration.
" You finally appeared , I knew you will definitely come."
Both performed their special handshake that they created for each other. " So what number did you get?"
Max replied that he got 22nd number even after he came alot earlier than scheduled time.
A guard came forward after seeing the registration line getting smaller as he announced that the registration will stop in 30 minutes. He also announced that all children with token must join the line for assessment according to their tokens.
The guard opened the main gate of the church and told all who had registered to enter.
All family members who came with children were not allowed to enter , all of them wished good luck for the participants and stayed out side.
Max also went inside the church as the guard spoke his number.
Inside the church , the guard lead them to specious hall and told them stand in front space of the stage.
Two elite guards came on the floor following the the priest. The priest looked in his mid fourties, he was bald , fat and had a circular face . His stomach had grown so much that he can not touch his own feet or even can see below the stomach while standing. He was wearing long white robe with golden lined cloth falling down from both side of his shoulders.
A old man looking in his sixtees but his eyes were full of vitality was also present. He had already found his seat as both sides of the stage had chairs. He was none other than the guardian of the city.The Adventure guild leader and vice leader both were present at the venue as a guest.
The priest came forward and introduced himself, his name was Father Julieous , he is a believer of light goddess Theia. he pointed at the large round transperant stone in center. He explained that what they have to do is to go near it and touch with both hands , everything else will entirely done by the assessment stone.
According to people of the church called it the holy stone was given to them by almighty light god. It showed both mana power and spiritual power of an individual.
The priest announcement the start of the ceremony. The child with the first token walked in front as he was full of excitement , but a guard stopped him and told him to get back
The boy showed his token to the guard still he was not allowed to go so he didn't argued with the guard rather than that , he looked towards the priest. But the priest ingnored him and announced two names.
As the names announced , blonde boy and girl entered the hall. Both had the look that of belonging to wealthy family. The two of them walked towards the stage and met with the priest.
" Ohh.. my goodness time flies isn't it. It feels like just yesterday when I named you both."
The girl hearing the priest didn't show any emotions and said , " You say that all the time."
" Yeh, you are right. He always speaks like that. " said the blonde boy.
A man with black hair looked in his early thirties spoke " Young master and young lady you should not talk like that to the priest. It is not a noble behaviour that suits you."
" Hmf whatever" said both of them.
" It's okay you don't have to worry about me sir David. They are children, obviously they are little irritated , because they had come early in morning and even making appearance with this many peasants." Priest looked in annoyed as he looked at the all children gathered in the hall.
" Yeh , you get it. So it would be wonderful if you may finish this early. I want to go back for my training." the blonde girl spoke without showing any emotions.
Her twin brother also agreed with her , as he also wanted to continue his sword training.
In the crowd,
Max looked angry as he heard everything what they were talking , he almost went towards the stage to confront them but was stoped by others.
The boy who holded his hand said , " what do you think , you are doing?. Everyone of us heared what they were talking, but do you see anyone else making fuss about it "
Max after hearing this still wanted to confront them . Seeing this a girl who was standing near by also joined as she said, " Do you not know why no one is speaking against it."
Hearing this Max stopped for a bit as he looked towards the girl and spoke "what about it?"
She looked shocked as she found out he didn't really knew about them. Max looked puzzled seeing the reaction of the girl and continued " do they think , this is their father's property."
The girl stared with blank face towards the Max , making him exclaim with a suprise " Is it ?"
" You could say that, as their father Markram is the most wealthiest marchent around here and he funded the the whole construction of the church."
Max didn't look convinced as he pointed that, it doesn't justify their attitude towards us and not following the rules and going ahead of us without registration.
The commotion could not go without notice as the guard behind the priest suggested , should he show the boy his place. In which all of them agreed other than the girl, as she said.
" Don't do that ." Before anyone can ask why she suggested that , she spoke again " I want to let him see the difference between the sky and land."
