The blue lotus petals rippled like silk as the massive bloom settled, turning the lake into a field of glowing sapphire.
"Big sister, the whole lake is covered by lotus!" Mirael whispered, her eyes wide with wonder.
I could only nod in awe. From the heart of the great bloom, small, blue, jewel-like spheres began to crack open and slide across the petals, gliding toward the shore as if guided by an invisible hand. One came to rest in front of each person who had survived.
Nyra reached down and gently picked hers up. "This is the blessing of the Blue Moon," she said softly, gesturing for us to do the same.
Mirael and I picked ours up together. The gem was a stunning, shimmering blue—so clear and radiant it reminded me of the Azureth Concord hanging around my neck. It felt warm, vibrating with a gentle pulse.
