The moon was wearing the veil of dark clouds. A cold breeze flowed through the dark alleys of the Dead City. The dead could be seen walking on the main road and in some streets.
A man wearing a long black coat and black pants was wandering such streets. He was cold and emotionless on the outside, but inside.....
Walking alone in this city is scary. I don't want to be here. Right now, I need a warm bed and I want to jump on that bed and sleep like it's nobody's business. The man thought to himself.
That man was Kaizen, Kai in short.
Now I get it why I wasn't allowed to go out at night when I was a kid. Even though human eating monsters weren't present back then, the city itself gives an eerie vibe.
While strolling through the city, Kai came face to face with many dead, but they didn't do anything to him, Instead they walked away from him as if Kai was one of their own kind.
If I had a city all to myself like these dead, who knows what I would have done. Too bad, these guys don't have a brain, they are missing a lot of things. Anyways, I should find a suitable house for me to stay, where I can find the luxury of a big warm bed.
While walking on the main road, Kai spotted someone on the street next to the main road. A teenage boy and a lady at her late twenties were walking on the street carefully.
Who are they? Kai was surprised.
I didn't know people were still living here. And on top of that, they are strolling the city at night. They don't even have a source of light. How are they seeing anything in this dark night.
Kai went a little closer to them without their notice.
The woman looks like she is some sort of soldier. She is holding a gun in her hand too. And the boy....well he looks like a homeless orphan to me. His tone suddenly shifted from serious to humourous.
Maybe she is conducting some sort of mission here. I think I should follow them. They are unlikely to survive on their own here. Surely they would need someone like me to save their asses. Damn it, there goes my warm bed and sleep.
Kai followed them during their short journey. Some dead came in their way and Kai thought that it was time for him to save them. But to his surprise, the lady handled every dead on her own without any difficulty.
Her movements are inhuman. How is it possible for someone to do something like that? And her bullets get blasted after hitting the target. I need bullets like those too. Is she from that special unit made by the government to fight the monsters? I had only heard rumors about it and thought the unit wasn't real but I guess I was wrong.
Kai kept following them. They started a conversation at a point after killing a dead.
Kai was listening to them carefully. At some point they talked about 'green spray' and 'dead finding them easily'.
What is this green spray? Dose it hide us from the dead? Then it must be some sort of perfume made up of vegetables or some other plants. That's very clever. Why didn't I think of something like that, not that I need that spray anymore.
Wait! Are the dead finding them because of me? I have been following them for some time and I have no way of hiding myself from the dead. But it's fine right? I am following them for their sake.
They kept moving and Kai kept following.
Then the young boy said," Look we are almost there."
Sigh..... finally. Let's find out where they are living.
Kai heaved a sigh of relief. But his relief was short lived, because he saw a dead was standing behind the two. And it wasn't any ordinary dead, it looked like a real monster. The dead roared.
What is that abomination now! He looks creepy as hell. Even I don't wanna fight that creep. He must have been a human who was infected by multiple dead. Well...let's see how she handles this one.
Kai disappeared inside the faint shadow of a two storey house. At the roof of that house, a shadow came creeping on the ground and Kai appeared out of that shadow.
He stood at the edge of the building and started seeing what was happening down there.
She is really good. She can't possibly be a normal human. Her movements are perfect. She might not be able to harm this guy but there is no way that he can harm her either.
The dead backed her to the wall.
Okay maybe this is time for my cool entry.
Kai sat down and stretched out his hand to his faint shadow. His shadow became darker and fluid. His shadow started showing viscous movement and an axe came out from there.
They boy cried out the lady's name and the dead jumped at him.
Kai, watching from the rooftop, thought to himself, ' this is definitely time for my cool entry.'
The bats flew by the roof and he threw the axe at the dead. The dead stopped. He then himself jumped at the dead and landed on him.
He jumped off the dead and landed on the ground. The dead went mad with rage and jumped on him.
Damn! He looks more creepy up close. Even his mama wouldn't call him a pretty little baby. Kai joked inside.
He held the axe on the dead's head and sliced him in two.
The boy and Ashley were shocked.
"Who are you?" The boy asked.
Oh man! I got blood on my clothes. Now I will have to wash them.
"You are the Nightwolf, right?" Ashley asked.
Nightwolf!? What is that? Oh wait! I think I have heard about that. People gave a me a name like that or something.
"Nightwolf!? But isn't the Nightwolf a wolf?"
This guy thinks I am a damn animal, not that I hated wolves but I still think that's adisrespect.
Ashley then introduced herself and told Kai why they were here.
She really is a member that special unit, A.M.U was it? What is it's full form? Anti Monster Unit? No I am pretty sure it wouldn't something lame like it.
Ashley asked Kai to join them.
What should I do? I can save many lives if I help her. Maybe I can stop an incident like that wedding from happening again. I can go on my journey after helping them. I think I should say yes.
Kai after thinking all this said, "Okay."

Kai, young boy and Ashley were on their way to the hideout. The mood between them was a little awkward as Kai was wasn't saying a single word and was being very cold and emotionaless.
"Amm...hi mister Wolf, I am Arthur. What is your name?" The boy asked to end the awkward silence.
Kai stayed quiet.
The enthusiasm in Arthur's eyes disappeared and he started looking toward the ground.
"My name is Kai". Kai finally said.
The boy looked a little happy.
"We should move quickly. I am short on potassium bullets." Ashley said as she checked her bullets. The bullets were long. Their primer and projectile were golden coloured while the case was transparent and was filled with water.
Kai looked at them and thought, 'potassium bullets! So that's how they work. The primer must contain potassium element inside and when the bullet hits the target, the potassium comes out of the primer and enters the case which is filled with water. Then they react together which results in explosion.'
"Are you a genetically modified human like Ashley?" Arthur asked Kai again.
A genetically modified human!? Wasn't that banned?
Kai looked at Arthur and said, " No, I am not."
In his usual cold manner.
"Well Ashley is. Infact her while team is filled with genetically modified humans. She has characteristics of a cat, but she is far better than a cat." Arthur continued in excitement.
Ashley looked at Arthur and Kai.
"Weren't these experiments banned?" Kai asked Ashley.
"They were. But after the apocalypse, everything changed. We didn't have enough power to fight these monsters. And then Dr. Stein came forward and told everyone that genetic modification is the only way for us to fight against them. And so these experiments became legal." Ashley explained.
Arthur, on the other hand, was amused as this was the first time Kai had spoken on his own.
"But if you are not genetically modified, then how are you so strong? What you did back there is impossible for any normal human." Arthur asked in hope of continuing the conversation.
"That is not for you to know." Kai replied.
"How did you know that there were still survivors in this city?" Kai asked.
"I don't know that. We were given orders directly from the king."
Why would that fatass give direct orders to save the people of this city. Sure, it was one of the most important cities of the the kingdom before the apocalypse but after the apocalypse, this city was the damaged. I am pretty sure he wouldn't give a damn about few survivors. How did he know that there were any in the first place? Kai found the situation a little abnormal.
"Why didn't you bring a aircraft then? It would have been lot easier to escort people out with that?" Kai asked again, not leaving his calm and cold style of talking.
"We don't know why but aircrafts are unable to enter the city. Whenever they cross the periphery of this city, they lose their ability to fly and get crashed." Ashley replied.
Okay, that's not normal at all. Something is definitely wrong here.
"Why are you clothes so old fashioned Kai? I haven't seen these clothes in my life. I have only heard about them." Arthur eager to be a part of the conversation asked.
Because these clothes are cooler for me, that's why.
Kai just looked at Arthur without answering. Arthur understood without any words and stopped talking.
While walking they reached a garden in the middle of the city. Trees and different plants were all around that garden.
They entered the garden. It was beautiful with flowers and small plants. In the middle of the garden there was an empty area.
The walked towards and the empty area and stood there.
Are we gonna spend the night here? I don't see anyone around. But this is a good place if we want to protect ourselves from the dead. Dead will rarely approach this area as we are surrounded by plant. And their hypersensitive nose dose not like the smell of plants.
Kai suddenly noticed something. A bright line of light appeared in the empty space ahead him and started forming the outline of a door. When the outline was completed, a door appeared in front of him out of nowhere.
The door opened and revealed a large hall inside it. It looked like there was a hole in the space which lead to another dimension.
Ashley smiled and said, " let's go inside."
Damn! This is so cool.
