Chapter 3 - Shield and Knight.

I went to the first house in the village I saw and I looked at the doorframe for who's house it was. The first house wasn't Lindt's, so I kept going. The second house was Lindt's as indicated by the sign. I tried to open the door but it was locked. I tried to use the key but it didn't work. I got a rock and broke the window. I went inside and looked for his bedroom.

I found it and i looked all around for a safe of sorts that would use the key. I found it eventually in the closet and I tried the key of the lock. It opened and inside was a wooden shield, some money, and also some seeds. I guess those seeds are valuable if they are in his safe. I put the seeds and money in the black box. The shield is especially confusing because if you need to protect yourself, why put the shield in a safe and not by your bed?

I looked around the house for anything else of value but I found nothing except some tools like pots, pans, food, and wood. I took all of the materials and put them inside of the box, which seems to have lots of space inside. I wonder how people who didn't get the box are trying to live without the storage space.

I took the pillow off of the bed too, as well as the blanket just incase I need to sleep. I experimented with the box in the house, like on what order the objects go out. Through my research. I found out that the box gets out whatever you imagine from the box, so no order is necessary. I chose to sleep in the house and then I'll go find my way tomorrow to the noble house Lindt mentioned.

I woke up to knocking at the door, with someone calling for Lindt. "Lindt! Come out and help us with the fields!" The female voice yelled. I didn't want to get caught so I left out from the window I broke yesterday. I chose to go back to the barn one last time for anything else that I needed. When I went back to the barn I saw knights and Lindt's corpse with flies all around his head wound.

I hid behind the barn and I looked for a second entrance. I couldn't find one, but a knight spotted me and yelled, "Stop! This is a murder scene!" He began to approach, and I know i can't outrun a full grown man in my feeble child body, so I came up with a genius idea. I thought of storing the planks on the barn. I tried by digging so I could put the box under the post, but it failed.

The knight was drawing nearer, so I had one choice left. I gathered the dirt and tried to put it in the box, and it worked. I got all of the dirt around the post, enough for me to crawl under but not enough for the knight to. I thought I was safe when all of a sudden the knight sliced through the barn planks with their sword.

I ran around, looking for anything I could grab, and I found my birth document, it must've fallen out of my pocket when I was sleeping on of those nights, but it is my saving grace against the knight. "Sir!" I yelled. "What reason could you possibly be st the murder scene for?!"

He yelled in frustration. "I came to get my photo", I said whilst grabbing the photo with my name on it. "A photo? Why would you possibly need a photo?!" The knight said in anger. "It is the last thing that I have from my family." I said while creating fake tears.

"*sigh* Okay, but I need to know who you are since you are at a murder scene." He said calmly.

I thought about what to tell him, since he is a knight, not some commoner. I decided to tell him my real name. "I am Centi van Ince." I said confidently. He was taken aback for a second, but he replied, "I see, that must be how you have that interesting magic item." "Could you keep it a secret?" I asked, knowing that bad things might happen if people know what valuable things I have.

He said he could take me to the capital but I declined and instead asked for a map. "A map? You can have mine I guess." He replied. "Can I borrow a horse?" I asked the knight. "Umm, we have a package horse you could use I guess, but it'll cost you." He said in response. "How much? Is 10 silver enough?" I said. "Sure, its only worth 4 silver anyways so keep the rest. Just remember me." He said half jokingly. "What is your name Mr knight?" I questioned while trying to sound like a child.

"My name is Mont, I serve no master since I am a squire." He answered. "Since he has no master, he could serve me", I thought in the back of my mind. "I will come back to the city eventually. I'll repay this favor sometime." I said boldly. "Sure kiddo." He said with a grin on his face. I got on the horse and left for the city.
