Chapter 2 - The Morning the Owl Arrived

The Lee household was in its usual state of intellectual collision.

The dining table was buried beneath half-eaten toast, Ji-ho's lecture notes on his new publish book the Paradise Lost, and a sprawling map of the stars that Carina was attempting—very seriously—to cross-reference with a Muggle telescope she could barely lift.

Leo was hunched over his notebook, sketching a wildly unflattering caricature of the Minister of Magic with bat-like ears. His hair had shifted to a focused shade of slate grey as he sang loudly—completely unconcerned with the existence of neighbours. His voice was genuinely beautiful, the result of years of music lessons and also being a metamorphmagus help him to understand how the human anatomy works., It was beautiful song but hearing him sing at full volume every morning had earned the Lee family several deep scowls from the elderly couple next door.

A sharp tap-tap-tap against the window cut through the noise.

A regal Great Grey Owl perched on the window, a thick parchment envelope clutched firmly in its talons.

The room fell silent.

Even Lyra—who had been midway through a dramatic retelling of her favourite team the holy head harpies latest Quidditch escapade—froze.

Orion stood first. He crossed the room, took the letter gently from the owl, and glanced at the address. His lips curved into a smile.

"Leo," Orion said softly, his voice unusually gentle. "I think that's for you."

Leo stood so fast his chair scraped loudly against the floor. His heart hammered against his ribs as his hair flickered through a nervous rainbow—pale green, muddy brown, then finally settling into a stark, anxious white.

He opened the window, untied the parchment, and stared at the heavy wax seal.

The Hogwarts crest.

"Open it!" Carina squealed, bouncing in her seat.

Leo broke the seal.

As he read the words—We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted—the tension drained from him instantly. His hair flared into a brilliant, shimmering gold that matched his eyes.

"I'm in," Leo said, breathless, a wide, lopsided grin spreading across his face.

"I'm going."

Then, louder—far louder—

"I'M GOING TO HOGWARTS!"

His entire body contorted in excitement. His limbs stretched, his arms wobbling like jelly as he jumped around the room, looking disturbingly like an inflatable noodle.

The silence shattered.

Everyone except Cassiopeia, who was still at work—erupted into chaos, laughing, shouting, dancing wildly. Somewhere nearby, the neighbours likely reconsidered their decision to ever buy that house.

"I knew it!" Lyra shrieked, launching herself at Leo in a suffocating hug. "With your Metamorphmagus abilities, you practically scream magic! You're definitely be in Ravenclaw like us" "please be Ravenclaw also it is more fun than any houses" Vela tried put that idea inside Leo.

"Nonsense," Orion said proudly, clapping a heavy hand on Leo's shoulder. "He's got the work ethic for Hufflepuff. But look at that flair and the name Leo? That's Gryffindor fire if I've ever seen it."

The Lees never pressured their children about Houses. Cassiopeia herself was a Slytherin, but she believed every House had its strengths. Orion, also a Slytherin, he was put into slytherin by his traits not by the idea of pure blood.

Vela leaned over the parchment, already absorbed.

"Look at the book list. A History of Magic, Magical Drafts and Potions… I can give you my notes."

Ji-ho stepped forward quietly.

He couldn't see the sparks of accidental magic flickering from Leo's fingertips, but he didn't need to. He saw his son golden-eyed, glowing with possibility, standing on the edge of a future he himself had never been allowed to reach.

"Your mother is going to be insufferable," Ji-ho said lightly, though his voice was thick with emotion. "She'll insist on buying the finest robes in madam malkin shop."

As if summoned by the thought, the fireplace flared green.

Cassiopeia stepped out, soot clinging to her Auror robes. She looked exhausted—fresh from guarding a captured Dark wizard responsible for killing ten Muggles in a twisted experiment.

One glance at the parchment in Leo's hands, his rainbow hair, and the chaotic celebration told her everything.

She didn't speak. It wasn't her first children that accepted into Hogwarts.

She crossed the room and pulled Leo into a firm embrace, smelling of rain and ozone.

"The second of my sons to go…..," she whispered.

"hahhaha well I supposed your letter of admittance to this other prestigious muggle school will be cancel"

"even If they beg I will not go" Leo said with an arrogant but joking tone.

"Spoken like a truly arrogant boy," Vela teased, poking his ribs.

Leo puffed out his chest dramatically and change himself to a bigger and taller stature to emphasize confidence and nose pointed higher.

"That's because I am that good."

Everyone laughed.

The rest of breakfast dissolved into joyful chaos—planning, shouting, and ordering Chinese takeout because no one had the energy to cook. Ji-ho ordering takeout from the phone with not clear message on both party due to the house chaos, Carina cried from a mix of happiness and jealousy and was carried by ji-ho in his arm at the same time to soothe carina, Lyra and Orion fought over the television remote, Leo and Vela sang something that sounded like an ethereal duet mixed with angry cats.

Outside, a neighbour peeked through the window with a deep scowl.

Cassiopeia laughed once, exhausted, told Ji-ho to deal with it all—and locked the door and went straight to bed like there is no chaos unfolding.

Ji-ho stared at the chaos around him, wiped his brow, and sighed.
