After obtaining the number plates he needed,
Hyuga Arin had no intention of continuing to fight anyone else.
Most of the people on this island could only provide a few dozen points of experience at best.
Only Illumi and Hisoka were likely to give massive experience—but unfortunately, those two were opponents he simply couldn't beat.
He moved swiftly through the trees toward the shore, planning to wait there until the exam ended.
When he reached the shoreline, the ship was still docked in place.
However, examinees were not allowed to board.
…
Five days passed in the blink of an eye.
Hyuga Arin was sitting by a campfire, roasting fish.
Hisoka and the disguised Illumi naturally sat down by the fire as well.
Seeing the uncontrollable smile on Hisoka's face, Hyuga Arin knew this guy had made a huge haul this time.
He glanced toward Gon, who had bandages on his face in the distance. Just from the flickering look in the kid's eyes, it was obvious he'd suffered a major loss.
Still, seeing the number plate missing from Hisoka's chest, it was clear that it had already become Gon's trophy.
Hanzo looked at Hyuga Arin with lingering fear. The swelling and bruises on his face hadn't faded yet, but the fact that he was still here meant he'd successfully completed the task.
"Everyone lines up with the original story," Hyuga Arin scanned the group.
Except for one person.
Bodoro hadn't appeared here.
Only that single character had changed—everyone else matched the original lineup.
It was just a question of who that unlucky guy had run into.
Soon, a staff member from the ship came out, holding a notebook and pen, and addressed everyone:
"Alright, we will now verify the number plates."
Hisoka had three number plates, plus his own—exactly six points.
Illumi had two plates: his own and his target's.
Hanzo likewise had three plates plus his own.
Leorio—whose plate had originally been taken by Hyuga Arin—had somehow still gathered three plates plus his target's.
You really had to admire the protagonist group.
Hyuga Arin casually displayed the two number plates in his hand.
Once the staff finished recording everything—
"The following nine examinees are the ones who have passed the fourth round."
…
The successful examinees boarded the airship once more.
From above, Hyuga Arin curiously looked down at the island below.
He could see some of the failed examinees looking up at the departing airship.
How would those people leave?
As Hyuga Arin was looking down, Kurapika walked over and asked:
"Why is your strength so overwhelming?"
Hyuga Arin turned his head.
"Train more, and you'll naturally become stronger."
Kurapika's expression was grave.
"There's some kind of power on you that lets people grow stronger, isn't there?"
Hearing that, Hyuga Arin finally looked at Kurapika seriously.
"You noticed?"
"I wasn't completely sure before—but now I am," Kurapika nodded solemnly.
Compared to the others, Hyuga Arin was simply too abnormal.
A blade that appeared out of nowhere.
Walking sideways along a cliff.
Overwhelming physical strength.
All of it deeply unsettled Kurapika.
He bowed deeply to Hyuga Arin.
"Please tell me—what do you need? I want you to teach me that power."
For someone driven by revenge, the thirst for power was almost obsessive.
"You're asking the wrong person," Hyuga Arin shook his head.
"Once you finish the Hunter Exam, the Hunter Association will arrange for you to learn that power."
Of course, not chakra—
But the power unique to this world.
Nen.
Suddenly, Hyuga Arin thought of something.
In his hand, a pair of gemstone-like scarlet eyes gradually formed.
When Kurapika saw what Hyuga Arin was holding, his pupils instantly constricted—then turned blood-red, identical to the eyes in Hyuga Arin's hand.
"These are something I collected by chance," Hyuga Arin said, looking at Kurapika's Scarlet Eyes.
"I think you'd want them."
Kurapika stared at him.
"What do you want in return?"
Hyuga Arin smiled.
"One request. That's all."
"What request?" Kurapika asked coldly.
"Not the time yet," Hyuga Arin shook his head. "When the time comes, I'll tell you."
He suspected that even after completing this Hunter Exam, he might have another chance to come back to this world.
Aside from class-changing, he remembered there was a special global drop item called a Dungeon Quest Scroll.
He hadn't paid much attention to it before, but he now suspected that it could allow world-crossing as well.
If he ever came back, he wanted to hunt the Phantom Troupe.
He casually tossed the Scarlet Eyes to Kurapika.
"Maybe we'll have a chance to work together in the future."
This was just a test.
If things didn't turn out as expected, he'd only lose a pair of Scarlet Eyes that were useless to him anyway.
He honestly couldn't think of anyone in the Naruto world who would want them.
"…Alright," Kurapika nodded.
Recovering his clansmen's eyes—and cooperating with Hyuga Arin—wasn't a bad deal at all.
Just then, a broadcast echoed through the cabin.
"Attention, examinees."
"Next, the Chairman has requested to personally interview each of you."
"When your number is called, please proceed to the second-floor reception room."
"Now then—number 44, Hisoka, please proceed to the reception room."
…
One by one, the examinees entered the room for interviews.
Soon, it was Hyuga Arin's turn.
He stepped into the reception room.
Netero was inside, holding a pen in one hand and a list in the other, looking troubled.
"Yo, we meet again," Netero greeted him cheerfully.
"I'd rather not meet you at all," Hyuga Arin rolled his eyes.
This old man was the hardest to deal with.
He looked carefree, but always left hidden traps behind—one careless step and you'd be led astray.
"Well, well. As the Chairman of the Hunter Association, we'll have plenty of chances to meet in the future," Netero said casually.
Hyuga Arin didn't respond and instead said directly:
"Let's get back to the point."
Netero smiled.
"So that means we won't be meeting much in the future? Do you have some special way of leaving… or am I about to die?"
This old fox—
Hyuga Arin ground his teeth.
"Chairman, please refrain from discussing matters unrelated to this exam."
"Alright, alright," Netero set down his pen and paper.
"Why do you want to become a Hunter?"
"Because there are things I need to do that require passing the Hunter Exam."
"And what might those be?"
"Sorry—confidential."
"What a heartbreaking answer."
"Then among the eight remaining examinees, who are you most interested in?"
Hyuga Arin thought for a moment.
"Number 405."
As the protagonist, Gon was naturally eye-catching.
"Then among the eight, who do you most want to fight?"
"Number 99."
Aside from the two overpowered outliers, Killua was the strongest and would provide the most experience.
"And among the eight, who do you least want to fight?"
"Number 44 and 301," Hyuga Arin answered honestly.
"I can't beat those two."
