The invitation letter held a weight far greater than the paper it was printed on. It formally invited Tobey Maguire to join the Celestial Life Foundation as its Chief Researcher. The remuneration was staggering: an annual salary of one million dollars.

For Tobey, who had spent years counting pennies and dodging his landlord, this was a life-altering sum. However, his initial reaction wasn't joy—it was a deep, characteristic hesitation. He knew every major organization in New York, and he had never heard of the Celestial Life Foundation.

"You must be wondering what exactly this foundation is," Peter said, cutting through Tobey's silence.

Tobey nodded slowly. "I don't think such a place exists, Peter."

"Of course not," Peter replied with a casual shrug. "Because Harry and I just created it yesterday."

The Vision of the Sub-Base

Peter leaned forward, his expression turning serious. "Harry is providing the capital through the Osborn Group. I am providing the computational backbone—a supercomputer that transcends anything this era has ever seen. But a machine is only as good as the mind guiding it. We need a researcher with a brilliant mind and an unshakeable moral compass. Harry recommended you, and I agree."

"I... I'm not sure I'm qualified for a 'Chief' position," Tobey stammered. "I've spent my time taking photos and doing freelance lab work."

"You and I are both Peter Parker," Peter countered firmly. "No one knows your intelligence better than I do. The goal of this foundation is simple: to unlock the mystery of human genes. For 40,000 years, human evolution has been a slow crawl. Norman Osborn tried to force a leap, but he chose the wrong path. We're going to find the right one."

Peter's strategic reasoning was deeper than mere charity. This universe was "clean." Unlike his main universe, which was teeming with organizations and superhumans, this world only had one Spider-Man. It was the perfect place to establish a biotechnology sub-base.

By developing mechanical technology in the main universe and biotechnology here, Peter was creating a diversified "technology tree." If his main base ever faced an insurmountable threat, this world would serve as his ultimate fallback.

A New Chapter

Tobey sat in contemplation for a long time. He wanted to understand his own powers, and more importantly, he wanted to save Norman Osborn from the Green Goblin persona. Eventually, the prospect of doing real good—and finally having the resources to do it—won out.

"Alright," Tobey said, his voice steadying. "I'll try my best. But... that salary is too high. I can't take that much."

Peter laughed, a genuine, lighthearted sound. "Don't worry. If you don't produce results, I'll make sure Harry gives you a hefty pay cut. For now, just focus on the work."

Tobey visibly relaxed, a small smile finally breaking through his worry. The weight of his financial struggle was, for the first time in his life, lifting.

The Secret of Precognition

Later that evening, Peter and Gwen walked through the vibrant, neon-lit streets of Manhattan. The city felt different now—peaceful, in a way it hadn't been since they arrived.

"Peter," Gwen said, breaking the comfortable silence. "How did you know so much about the Morlun Family? The moment you saw Karn, you knew his name, his family, and exactly how to hurt him."

Peter paused. He had expected this question. Gwen was sharp, and his "advanced knowledge" was becoming impossible to ignore. He decided to offer an explanation that was both a shield and a partial truth.

"It's... my second ability," Peter said softly. "I can foresee certain fragments of the future. It's not something I can control; it happens randomly, like flashes of a dream. I saw Karn. I saw what he was capable of. That's why I was prepared."

Gwen's eyes sparkled with newfound admiration. "Precognition? Peter, that's incredible. No wonder you're always three steps ahead."

But while she was impressed, she also felt a quiet surge of determination. Peter was becoming a god among men, unlocking powers she could barely imagine. If she wanted to stand by his side as a true partner and not just a passenger, she would have to push her own limits further than ever before.
