Chapter 23 - Percy the leaker

Of All Days for Percy to Visit

The soft morning glow was perfect. The sheets were tangled, the air was warm, and Jay was wrapped in Keifer's arms, one leg tossed over his hip, her cast resting comfortably on his chest.

Keifer was half-asleep, hair messy, lips parted, the ghost of a grin on his face.

Jay blinked.

Smiled.

And whispered, "You're drooling."

Keifer groaned and rolled onto his back. "Worth it."

They stayed like that for a while. Quiet. Peaceful.

Until—

BANG. BANG. BANG.

A voice — way too loud, way too cheerful — echoed through the apartment.

"JAYBIRD! I brought muffins and rumors!! Open up or I'm climbing in through your bedroom window again!"

Jay froze.

Keifer sat bolt upright. "That's Percy, isn't it?"

Jay shoved the blankets down, panicking. "Why is he here?!"

"I don't know, he's your brother!"

Another bang. "I KNOW YOU'RE HOME. I SAW YOUR SOCK ON THE BALCONY. DON'T THINK I WON'T—"

CLICK.

The door opened.

Percy stepped in with a bright smile and a bag of muffins…

…only to be greeted by a shirtless Keifer in sweatpants and Jay in an oversized hoodie that definitely wasn't hers.

A long pause.

Percy blinked.

Jay froze.

Keifer tried to speak. "This isn't—well, actually it is—"

Percy held up one finger. "Let me just—"

He turned around.

Screamed into the hallway.

Then turned back with the smuggest face alive. "I KNEW IT. I KNEW IT. I TOLD ARIES. I CALLED THIS IN 2021."

Jay covered her face. "Percy, I swear to God—"

"No, no, don't interrupt me. I am living for this. The hair. The lack of pants. The love bites. The energy. Jayfer is canon and I'm not even mad about walking in on it."

Keifer muttered, "We didn't exactly invite you."

Percy winked. "You never invite me. I show up. That's what makes me iconic."

Jay groaned. "Please leave before I launch a muffin at your face."

Percy backed out, still grinning. "Fine. But I'm texting Aries. Also, Keifer—solid work. Proud of you, bro."

The door closed.

Jay and Keifer stared at each other.

Jay fell back into the pillow. "I hate him."

Keifer grinned. "You love him."

She sighed. "Ugh. Unfortunately."

He leaned down, kissed her temple. "Well. At least it's out."

Jay looked up at him and smirked. "If Percy's talking, everyone's going to know by lunch."

Keifer just smiled, brushed her hair from her cheek, and whispered,

"Let them talk."
