Chapter 130 - chapter 33

BOOK FOUR: THE KINGDOM BEYOND THE LAST GATE

Chapter 33: The World Between Worlds

Elara touched the white Crown.

Nothing happened.

For one second...

Nothing at all.

Then the universe breathed.

A pulse of white light travelled through every star.

Every planet.

Every Gate.

Every forgotten world.

Riva felt it pass through her.

She closed her eyes.

And heard millions of voices.

Different languages.

Different lives.

Different versions of herself.

All asking the same question.

"Where do we belong?"

Riva opened her eyes.

She looked at Elara.

"Don't answer them."

Elara frowned.

"Why?"

"Because they have to choose for themselves."

---

Elara held the Crown.

"I don't know how."

Riva smiled.

"Neither did I."

"Then how did you create everything?"

"I made the mistake of thinking I needed to know."

Elara looked confused.

Riva touched her shoulder.

"Creation isn't about controlling what comes next."

"It's about making space for it."

Elara looked at the millions of worlds.

Then she understood.

She opened her hands.

The white Crown shattered into countless pieces of light.

Each piece flew toward a different world.

The worlds stopped moving.

For the first time...

They were still.

---

Seris stared.

"She's separating them."

Lyra shook her head.

"No."

"She's connecting them."

Naren looked at the sky.

"She's creating paths."

Riva smiled.

"Exactly."

The worlds were no longer crashing together.

They were connected by thin threads of white light.

Every reality had its own place.

Its own sky.

Its own history.

Its own future.

Nothing had to disappear.

---

But then the largest black star moved forward.

It swallowed three worlds.

Elara screamed.

"Mother!"

Riva turned.

The worlds inside the star vanished.

"No."

She raised her hand.

The Eighth Flame appeared.

But the darkness swallowed it.

Riva stared.

"What is that?"

Nyra answered:

"The Void."

Riva shook her head.

"I thought the Void was the space between worlds."

"It is."

"Then why is it consuming them?"

Nyra looked at her.

"Because something is inside it."

---

A voice echoed across existence.

"CREATOR."

Riva froze.

The voice continued.

"YOU HAVE RETURNED."

Elara stepped closer to her.

"Who is that?"

Riva didn't answer.

Because she recognized the voice.

She had heard it before.

Long ago.

Before the first world.

Before Aurelia.

Before Kael.

Before even Nyra.

Riva whispered:

"The first voice."

---

The black star opened.

A massive figure emerged.

It had no face.

No body.

Only two enormous white eyes.

Seris dropped to her knees.

"The Original."

Lyra stared.

"What is that?"

Seris whispered:

"The thing that existed before creation."

Riva looked at it.

"Before me."

Seris nodded.

"It created the space where you could exist."

Riva's blood ran cold.

"So even I was created."

The Original spoke.

"YOU WERE MY DREAM."

---

Riva stepped forward.

"Then why are you destroying my worlds?"

"THEY WERE NEVER YOURS."

"They belong to the people living in them."

"THEY EXIST BECAUSE OF YOU."

"That doesn't make them mine."

The Original became silent.

Riva continued:

"I made them."

"But I don't own them."

"I gave them life."

"That doesn't give me the right to decide how they live."

The Original's eyes brightened.

"THEN WHAT ARE YOU?"

Riva answered:

"A beginning."

---

Elara stepped beside her.

"And I'm what comes after."

Nyra joined them.

"And I'm what she was afraid of."

The Original stared at them.

"THREE FRACTURES OF ONE CREATION."

Riva shook her head.

"No."

"We are three choices."

The Original said nothing.

Riva looked at Elara.

"You choose creation."

Elara nodded.

Then Riva looked at Nyra.

"You choose freedom."

Nyra smiled.

"And you?"

Riva looked toward Caelan.

Then Lyra.

Then Naren.

Then Seris.

Then all the worlds.

"I choose to let go."

---

The Original raised its hand.

The universe shook.

Every thread connecting the worlds began breaking.

Elara struggled to hold them together.

"I can't!"

Riva reached for her.

"Don't fight it."

"What?"

"Listen."

Elara closed her eyes.

She heard the worlds.

Not their fear.

Their choices.

One world wanted to remain.

Another wanted to merge.

Another wanted to disappear.

Another wanted to begin again.

Elara understood.

"They're choosing."

Riva smiled.

"Let them."

---

Elara opened her hands.

The threads changed.

Instead of forcing the worlds together...

They became doors.

Every world received the ability to connect with another.

Not permanently.

Only when both sides chose it.

The Original watched.

Its enormous eyes slowly dimmed.

"YOU HAVE CREATED CHOICE WITHOUT CONTROL."

Riva nodded.

"Yes."

"THEN YOU HAVE SURPASSED YOURSELF."

The Original began disappearing.

Riva stared.

"Wait."

The voice echoed:

"I WAS NEVER YOUR ENEMY."

Riva frowned.

"Then what were you?"

The Original answered:

"YOUR FIRST QUESTION."

The darkness disappeared.

---

The universe became silent.

Then...

Stars appeared.

One.

Two.

Thousands.

Millions.

New stars were born where the black worlds had vanished.

Elara looked around.

"Did we save everything?"

Riva shook her head.

"No."

Elara looked surprised.

"We didn't?"

Riva smiled.

"We couldn't."

"Some worlds were already gone."

"Some lives couldn't be restored."

"But the worlds that remained..."

She looked toward the glowing threads.

"...are free."

---

Caelan approached.

"Is it over?"

Riva looked at him.

"For the first time..."

"I think it is."

He smiled.

"That sounds dangerous."

Riva laughed.

"Probably."

Elara hugged her.

Nyra stood nearby.

She looked different.

The darkness around her had disappeared.

She looked almost human.

Lyra approached her.

"So..."

Nyra looked at her.

"What?"

"You really are part of Riva?"

Nyra nodded.

Lyra smiled.

"Then you're family."

Nyra looked shocked.

"Family?"

Lyra nodded.

"Don't make me regret saying it."

Nyra laughed.

For the first time...

She laughed like a normal person.

---

Seris walked toward Riva.

"There is one thing left."

Riva sighed.

"Of course there is."

Seris smiled.

"The Crowns."

Riva looked around.

They were gone.

"What about them?"

"They cannot remain scattered."

"Then destroy them."

Seris shook her head.

"They don't need to be destroyed."

"Then what?"

"Return them."

"To whom?"

Seris looked at Riva.

"To their true owners."

Riva frowned.

"Who are their true owners?"

Seris pointed toward the worlds.

"Everyone."

---

The Crowns appeared.

But they were different.

No longer weapons.

No longer prisons.

They became lights.

Memory became the light of remembrance.

War became the light of courage.

Shadow became the light of acceptance.

Birth became the light of beginnings.

Death became the light of endings.

Choice became the light of freedom.

Creation became the light of possibility.

And the final light...

Riva's original power...

became the light of love.

It spread across every world.

Not controlling anyone.

Not forcing anyone.

Simply existing.

---

Elara looked at Riva.

"Mother."

"Yes?"

"What happens now?"

Riva looked at the new universe.

For the first time in thousands of years...

She didn't know.

And she smiled.

"I don't know."

Elara laughed.

"You're not afraid?"

Riva shook her head.

"No."

"Why?"

"Because I finally understand."

She took Elara's hand.

"The future isn't something we have to know."

"It's something we get to discover."

---

The worlds began moving.

Not toward each other.

But alongside each other.

The Gates transformed into bridges.

The Crowns became stars.

The old kingdoms became stories.

The wars became history.

And somewhere beyond the final Gate...

A new world began.

No Creator.

No ruler.

No chosen one.

Only people.

Making choices.

Making mistakes.

Learning.

Loving.

Living.

Riva looked at Caelan.

"Ready?"

He smiled.

"For what?"

Riva looked toward the horizon.

"To live without knowing what happens next."

Caelan took her hand.

"With you?"

"Yes."

"Then I'm ready."

---

Elara stood beside them.

Nyra beside Elara.

Lyra and Naren behind them.

Seris watched from a distance.

The seven of them looked toward the sunrise.

And for the first time...

There was no prophecy.

No Crown.

No Gate.

No destiny.

Only a beginning.

But far beyond the stars...

A tiny golden light appeared.

It wasn't a Crown.

It wasn't a Gate.

It wasn't a warning.

It was a seed.

And inside that seed...

Something was growing.

Something new.

Something none of them had created.

Riva smiled.

She didn't know what it was.

And she didn't need to.

Because this time...

She chose not to know.
