Chapter 65 - chapter 3

BOOK THREE: THE FALL OF THE FIRST KINGDOM

Chapter 3: The Six Crown Keepers

The silver flowers swayed gently beneath an invisible wind.

The little boy stood frozen.

His breathing had become uneven.

"They've found me again..."

The Six Heirs turned toward the distant horizon.

Six enormous figures slowly emerged from the silver mist.

Each one wore a different ancient crown.

Each carried a different weapon.

Each step caused the ground beneath Memory Junction to tremble.

But something was strange.

They were not surrounded by darkness.

Instead...

Silver light flowed around them.

Lucien frowned.

"They don't feel like enemies."

Elias, the conductor, quietly replied,

"They aren't."

"They are the Crown Keepers."

---

The first figure reached the field.

He was a giant armored knight wearing a golden crown shaped like the rising sun.

His sword rested against his shoulder.

Despite his enormous size, his eyes were gentle.

He looked directly at the little boy.

"We've finally found you."

The boy immediately hid behind Riva.

"They'll erase me!"

Riva instinctively stepped forward.

"No one is touching him."

---

The remaining five figures arrived.

One wore robes covered in stars.

Another carried a crystal staff.

One held a silver bow.

One carried an enormous shield.

The last wore no armor at all.

Only a simple white cloak.

Together they formed a circle around the boy.

Yet...

None of them attacked.

---

The white-cloaked Keeper spoke first.

"We have no wish to harm him."

Eva frowned.

"Then why is he afraid of you?"

The Keeper lowered his head.

"Because he only remembers the ending."

---

Silence fell over Memory Junction.

Riva looked down at the frightened child.

"What does that mean?"

Elias answered quietly.

"This place is made from memories."

"When memories are damaged..."

"People remember only fragments."

---

The little boy clutched Riva's arm tightly.

"They took everyone away."

"They left me alone."

The oldest Crown Keeper knelt before him.

"No..."

"We tried to save you."

The boy shook his head violently.

"You're lying!"

---

Suddenly...

Eva's compass spun so fast that silver sparks burst from its surface.

Ancient symbols floated into the air.

She translated them aloud.

"Memory Conflict Detected."

"Two truths exist."

Lucien looked confused.

"Two truths?"

Elias nodded.

"Someone altered history."

---

The Six Heirs exchanged worried glances.

Someone had rewritten the past.

---

Without warning...

The silver flowers surrounding the field turned black.

A freezing wind swept across Memory Junction.

The little boy screamed.

"They're here!"

The sky above them cracked open.

Dark hands reached through the fractures.

Not the Devourer.

Not the Forgotten Ones.

These creatures had no form at all.

They resembled living ink spreading across reality.

Everywhere they touched...

Memories disappeared.

Flowers became dust.

Trees vanished.

Even the train station behind them slowly faded.

---

The Crown Keepers immediately drew their weapons.

"For the Promise!"

The six warriors charged together.

Golden light collided with black mist.

The battlefield erupted.

---

Lucien joined them without hesitation.

The Blade of Dawn cut through the living darkness.

But every creature destroyed immediately reformed.

"They don't stay dead!"

Orion blocked another attack with his shield.

"They're not alive!"

---

Parna raised both hands.

Silver vines erupted beneath the creatures.

Instead of trapping them...

The vines disappeared.

"They erased my power..."

she whispered.

---

Aarvi struck the ground with the Staff of Home.

Warm light spread across the battlefield.

Wherever the light reached...

The creatures hesitated.

The frightened little boy finally stopped crying.

Riva noticed immediately.

"They're afraid..."

"Not of weapons."

"They're afraid of hope."

---

Elias smiled proudly.

"Exactly."

---

Riva remembered Adrian's final lesson.

Trust each other.

She raised her notebook.

Instead of drawing...

She began writing.

Every happy memory she could remember.

The orphanage.

Her friends.

Black Hollow Station.

The White Tree.

Adrian's smile.

The moment the Six Heirs first stood together.

Silver words floated from the pages.

Each word became light.

The black creatures screamed.

One by one...

They dissolved.

---

The remaining creatures retreated into the cracks in the sky.

Memory Junction became peaceful once again.

---

The six Crown Keepers lowered their weapons.

The oldest among them bowed deeply before the Six Heirs.

"You truly are the Covenant."

Riva shook her head.

"We're just trying to protect people."

The old Keeper smiled.

"That is exactly why the Covenant chose you."

---

The little boy slowly stepped away from Riva.

He looked at the six Keepers.

Then at the Six Heirs.

A tear rolled down his cheek.

"I..."

"I remember something."

Everyone waited.

The boy closed his eyes.

"I wasn't hiding from them."

"I was hiding..."

"...for them."

Silence.

Elias looked surprised.

"What did you remember?"

The boy slowly opened his eyes.

"They told me..."

"If history was ever rewritten..."

"I must never remember my real name."

Eva's crystal compass suddenly projected a map.

A location deep beneath Aurelia Prime began glowing.

Ancient letters appeared around it.

THE HALL OF THE FIRST KING

The six Crown Keepers immediately became tense.

The oldest whispered,

"It still exists..."

Elias closed his ancient book.

"The journey changes now."

Riva looked toward the glowing map.

"What is hidden inside the Hall of the First King?"

The old Keeper answered in a solemn voice.

"The truth."

"But once you learn it..."

"There is no returning to the history you once believed."

Far away...

In the deepest chamber beneath Aurelia Prime...

An ancient stone throne trembled.

For the first time in thousands of years...

Someone sitting upon it slowly opened their eyes.
