Chapter 57 - chapter 25

BOOK TWO: THE KINGDOM BEYOND THE GATE

Chapter 25: The Final Choice Begins

The prophecy lingered in the air like a living curse.

"When Beginning and Ending stand together... one of the Six Heirs must make the Final Choice."

No one spoke.

The words echoed through the Throne of Dawn, repeating themselves until they faded into silence.

Riva looked at her friends.

Lucien.

Eva.

Parna.

Aarvi.

Orion.

She couldn't imagine one of them being forced to decide the fate of every world.

---

Elyon—the Keeper of Beginnings—stood calmly before the throne.

Beside him stood Eryndor—the Keeper of Endings.

For the first time in countless centuries, the two brothers faced each other.

Neither drew a weapon.

Neither showed hatred.

Only sadness.

"You've protected them well," Elyon said.

Eryndor smiled faintly.

"I protected hope."

"You protected possibility."

Elyon nodded.

"And now they must choose."

---

Riva stepped forward.

"What exactly is this Final Choice?"

Instead of answering, Elyon raised his hand.

The floor beneath the throne glowed.

Nine circles of golden light appeared around the Six Heirs.

The palace disappeared.

The Throne of Dawn vanished.

The stars themselves dissolved.

When the light faded...

The group stood inside a vast white chamber.

There were no walls.

No ceiling.

No shadows.

Only endless white light.

At the center floated nine enormous doors.

Each was carved from a different material.

Gold.

Silver.

Crystal.

Stone.

Obsidian.

Wood.

Ice.

Light.

And the ninth...

A door made of nothing but transparent glass.

Lyra whispered,

"The Hall of Choices..."

---

Eva slowly approached one of the doors.

Ancient symbols appeared across its surface.

Her crystal sphere translated them.

The Door of Power.

Lucien looked toward another.

The Door of Sacrifice.

Parna found one covered in vines.

The Door of Life.

Aarvi laughed nervously.

"My door has puzzle pieces."

Eva translated again.

The Door of Truth.

Orion discovered a dark iron door.

The Door of Courage.

Riva stood before the transparent door.

No words appeared.

Only her own reflection.

---

Eryndor walked toward her.

"That door has no name."

"Why?"

"Because only its owner can give it one."

---

Suddenly—

Every door opened by itself.

Each doorway revealed a different future.

The Door of Power showed Lucien seated upon a magnificent throne.

The worlds were united.

Peace existed everywhere.

But...

Lucien ruled alone.

His friends were nowhere to be seen.

He quietly closed the door.

---

The Door of Life revealed Parna standing within a world where forests covered every kingdom.

Nature had been completely restored.

Yet...

There were no cities.

No people.

Only silence.

Parna stepped back.

"This isn't balance."

---

Eva's Door of Truth showed endless libraries containing every secret ever hidden.

Nothing remained mysterious.

Nothing remained unknown.

Children no longer dreamed.

Because every answer already existed.

Eva slowly shut the door.

"A world without mystery..."

"...isn't alive."

---

Aarvi's Door opened into a peaceful village.

Her uncle was alive.

Her parents smiled.

Everyone she had ever lost had returned.

She took one step forward.

Then stopped.

"They aren't real..."

The door closed.

---

Orion's Door of Courage showed an endless battlefield.

He stood victorious.

Every enemy had fallen.

But he stood alone among the ruins.

He quietly turned away.

---

Finally...

Everyone looked toward Riva.

Only her transparent door remained unopened.

She slowly reached out.

The glass dissolved beneath her fingers.

Inside...

She saw the orphanage.

The children were laughing.

The matron smiled.

Everything looked normal.

Then...

A little girl stepped forward.

She looked exactly like the child Riva had once been.

The little girl asked one simple question.

"If you save every world..."

"...who will save you?"

The vision disappeared.

The transparent door remained open.

---

Before Riva could answer—

The chamber trembled violently.

A crack spread across the white floor.

Then another.

Then hundreds.

Elyon's expression changed.

"Impossible..."

Eryndor looked upward.

"He found this place."

Darkness began seeping through the cracks.

Not the Devourer's giant form.

Something worse.

The darkness wasn't attacking.

It was erasing.

Every place it touched simply ceased to exist.

One of the nine doors vanished instantly.

No explosion.

No remains.

It had never existed.

Lyra gasped.

"The Hall itself is being forgotten!"

---

The crystal sphere floated high above everyone.

A final message appeared.

Eva's voice trembled as she read it.

"The Final Choice cannot be made..."

"...until the Six Hearts become One."

Lucien frowned.

"Six hearts?"

Caelum suddenly smiled.

"I understand."

Cassian looked at him.

"Understand what?"

Caelum looked at the Six Heirs.

"This was never about choosing one ruler."

"It was always about choosing together."

Elyon nodded for the first time.

"The prophecy has been misunderstood for thousands of years."

"There is no single chosen one."

"The Final Choice belongs to all Six Heirs."

Relief spread across their faces.

No one would carry the burden alone.

They would face it together.

---

Suddenly, the transparent door behind Riva shattered.

A figure stepped out.

Everyone instinctively reached for their weapons.

It was...

Another Riva.

But not Queen Riva.

This Riva wore white robes instead of black armor.

Her Star Mark glowed with golden light.

She looked peaceful.

Hopeful.

She smiled warmly at Riva.

"I am the future where we won."

Silence.

Then another voice echoed from behind the darkness consuming the Hall.

Cold.

Broken.

Filled with sorrow.

"And I..."

A second figure emerged.

Another Riva.

This one wore torn black armor, her silver crown broken beyond repair.

Her eyes burned with despair.

"...am the future where everyone died."

Three versions of Riva now stood in the Hall of Choices.

The present.

The victorious future.

The fallen future.

Both future versions spoke at the same time.

"Don't make the choice we made."
