The longer willow stayed in Kaila's parents house, the harder it was for her to see Lucien. It's almost like he hadn't returned him after that night. He didn't have breakfast with them, and didn't even eat dinner with them. There's always one made up excuse after another. It was clear he was avoiding her.
Willow sighed, curled up on the edge of the bed with one of Kaila's books in her lap. Moxie and Kaila had left earlier to visit their grandparents grave. They said it was some sacred family ritual she wasn't invited to. If only they knew spirits don't watch over their own once they're dead.
No one up there remembers their family anymore. But they're always in peace, that was all that mattered.
The mansion was quiet. Too quiet. Kaila had promised they wouldn't be long, but it's been hours already.
