After hours of locking herself in her room and crying endlessly, Elise finally stepped out of the room. Her eyes were swollen, throat felt dry. She needed water badly.
She arrived in the dining room. Since it was already past dinner, Lucien and John had probably eaten. Elise thought.
Maybe she could eat their leftovers. It's not like she had another choice.
When she got inside the dining room, the room was spotless. It wasn't even as if they had had any dinner. Elise wondered if they had already eaten or not.
She stepped out of the room and hurried into the kitchen to get water first. She would drink first, before thinking about any food.
She filled a cup and drank it all at once. Then she filled it again and was about to take another sip when someone spoke.
"Miss Elise." She froze and turned in the direction of the voice.
John stood in the doorway, looking surprised, and worried. He stepped in carefully, like he was afraid she might break.
